    Brass plumbing fittings are the easiest, cleanest and most accurate way for mixing two pack paint. A step drill, 3/4 threaded male brass connector, nuts, end cap and some thread tape for both lids. Then you have spouts on each lid of your paint cans and can pour out only what you need into your measuring container. It's much easier than slopping around a ladle and getting paint into the grooves, running down the sides of the can etc. Hope I explained it well enough and this helps.

    • @AlexHibbertOriginals

      Sounds very neat, but the ladle takes literally seconds too.

    I did an anti slip surface with 40 grain sandpaper, glued on with epoxy resin, than thin coat over the top.
    Worked well here in the Tropics, and looks neat, with rounded corners.

    Next time put a garbage bag in a bucket and spin off the mixer into that. It makes it very easy to get almost completely clean cuz you can switch into high gear and just sling almost all the paint off without making a huge mess.

    A tip I learned for making clean even caulk lines is to get a 3/4" or similar metric sized steel ball bearing and affixing a stick handle to it with epoxy putty so it looks like a round lollipop. I welded a steel rod to mine but most people just use a wood or plastic rod & adhesive. You drag the ball bearing along the length of the caulk while pressing it into the corner angle and it smooths out the caulk making it consistent along the length of the seam & gives a better cosmetic appearance. You can get smaller ball bearings for tighter corners but the 3/4" bearing works good for your average 3/8" bead of caulk. You just use a rag to wipe off the excess caulk from the ball bearing as you finish each seam.

    • @AlexHibbertOriginals

      Yes indeed - a technique used in mould making for composites too.

      @@AlexHibbertOriginals Ha ha ha, I was NOT expecting that response and I greatly value your honesty. However you just lost some respect. I've lost my own self respect while filming certain things in contrived ways, too, it feels SO wrong. My least favourite is solo yachting channels that do everything SO awkwardly with ONE hand that NEEDS TWO just so they can hold the go pro with the other. Put the go pro on a helmet or on a wrist band or on a stand on the deck or whatever, don't do shit with one hand that needs two. You're not guilty of that AFAIK, but some are and it's super annoying to watch :-D Thanks for owning up :-D As you were.

    Something to check out.

    Just a few tips for you
    It was probably UV resistant filler used to seal the gaps, the fact that some was in worse condition means that the UV rays were hitting it more or less in the same area depending on the season therefore your will hold up for a good few years.
    If you had used masking tape before you had applied the sealant you would of got nice clean lines. I do understand you will paint over however using this method you would get a better finish or unless you get out the Stanley knife
    Never never mix paint on a table and preferably do so outside as some paints have noxious fumes. I kind of like that phrase much more posh than saying stinks like shit. You mix it on the ground as you both get a better angle and it is more stable than a table though yours looked sturdy and you can see how it is mixing. Plus of course if it does tip over(Which is more likely as you are stirring it at an angle) it is better to do so on the ground rather than the furniture curtains etc etc.

    Just so you know, That non-slip paint does nothing/very little to snow. As snow, particularly when stepped on, fills the voids between the granules and it again becomes a slick surface. I'm sure that wasn't the intention of it either, but just so you're aware.

    • @AlexHibbertOriginals
      @AlexHibbertOriginals  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes you're right that both snow and ice disables most friction style anti slip. Luckily whilst in transit it'll mostly be just water. In situ in cold climes, clearing the decks will end up a daily chore.

    • @Garryck-1
      @Garryck-1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wonder if Kiwi Grip (the preferred non-slip for most sailboats) might work better. It's kind of rubbery with lots of little peaks when applied. The flexing when stood on, might tend to help break up any snow or ice.
