I thought I was going to learn something amazing. Instead I learned how much my years of climbing, surfing and general outdoor skills have carried over to my sailing. It all seemed pretty standard to me. But I was blown away: "down" jacket ? On a boat ? No way ! Fiberfill or synthetic fleece! Down if it gets soaked is useless until it dries and that takes 5 to 10 X's longer than fiberfill. There are more than one climbing areas where if you are rescued off a wall due to storm and exposure, if you have a down bag instead of fiberfill.... you pay the cost of the rescue. That's how serious S.A.R takes it ! :)

I use camp towels instead of regular towels because they take up much less space and they dry faster

    Greetings from the Pacific Northwest!
Great ideas! Like the presentation style.
I do wonder about the utility of down gear in a marine environment. What happens if it gets wet?

I have the same "Overboard" bag and have used it on only 2 trip's before some of the plastic clip/shoulder strap fastenings' broke rendering it useless and not fit for purpose, I'd be interested to hear about your useage experience.

I disagree about the towel. A Turkish towel (thinner but very absorbent) is much easier to wash and dry. It also dries much faster. You can have several very large ones stored in the space of a single large standard bath towel. At a marina, I can wash 2 huge ones, several regular sized, and a pile of tea towel sized ones in a single load. Can't do that with "fluffy" towels. Also, I have to do laundry in the cockpit, they are so easy to clean and rinse.
The biggest hack for us has been good hammock mounts set on a slight diagonal in the salon. That way when I'm laying on a diagonal in the hammock, my body is aligned with the boat. Whoever is sleeping will sleep securely and well. When able to rest well, long passages are a joy and I don't get an achy body.

I used to suffer from cracked skin on my fingers.
Since I started taking Vitamin D 5 years ago, I no longer suffer from these skin problems.

These are all excellent products. The fleece lined work gloves are fantastic for sailing, especially for those of us on smaller boats in the north that raise the anchor by hand or adjust lines without using winches. The double sleeping bag is the way to go, as is the down duvet you mentioned. This is the first video I've watched on your channel and I subscribed because everything here is bang on.
