Hey man your video helped me a lot I have a 2011 Camaro SS and two of my cylinders cylinder 7 and cylinder 8 valve Springs were broken it sounds very similar like yours with the ticking and the check engine light flashing
I just bought a 2021 yesterday and had this happen too me it was taken back to the dealer, and their looking into it now this video at least gave me hope that its not the end of the world lol
No offense but to anyone who watches this video and is out of warranty do not do what he did. If you hear a knocking or clicking like that get the car towed home and pull the valve covers. Lucky you didn’t drop a valve and bye bye motor.
THE DEALER LIED TO YOU! THERE ARE MULTIPLE BULLETINS OUT BY GM STATING THAT THE CAMARO V8 HAS VALVE SPRING ISSUES. GM USED INFERIOR QUALITY SPRINGS IN THE CAMARO ENGINES. WHAT DID YOU EXPECT FROM A COMPANY THAT WENT BANKRUPT AND USED YOUR AND MY TAX DOLLARS TO GET BAILED OUT. I OWN A 2010 CAMARO 2SS. STARTED HAVING VALVE SPRING ISSUES AT 45000 MILES.
Same thing with me. 2020 Trail Boss LT with 289 miles. Had it for 14 days. Gm is replacing the whole engine. Glad it’s a lease and will still be under warranty for the duration of my lease.
My Camaro just broke a spring a few weeks ago. I first thought bad gas or injector. I bought a odb scanner and changed a few parts that it recommended. I started to up again and that's when I heard a loud ticking. After removing the valve cover, I found the problem.
@@kevinsierra7400 mine is a 5th gen ss. But checking the valve springs is pretty easy. Just remove the coil packs from the top of the valve cover and then you'll be able to remove the valve cover to inspect all the springs.
Bro my car is doing the same exact thing and I had it in shop for months they couldn’t figure it out they thought it had aftermarket injectors so they tried to charge me for that and I just got it back w spark plugs replaced and a bunch of stuff and it’s still doing this. I’m almost positive it’s this
Just had my 2005 GTO LS2 in the shop for a broken exhaust valve spring on number 5 cylinder. By pure luck the valve didn't drop and destroy the engine. Just filled it up at the gas station when 10 minutes later it happened. Sounded like the dam engine was going to break off the engine mounts it was shaking so bad. Got the whole thing including 125 dollar tow done for less than 600 bucks.
Wow thats what happened to my 2019 Camaro SS and i was cammed and e85 and full bolt on with rotofab Cai with motorad thermostat . It ended up with blown valves and rods and pistons got destroyed .
My 2017 SS is at the dealer, same exact thing happened and this is after the engine was replaced already! Was this an easy fix? Did this cause more damage to the engine?
Yo Vazrik, my 2017 has been at the dealership for a week now. The engine wont manually crank. Its seized up. Its under a good warranty. How long did it take them to fix it or swap the LT1 ?? I feel like i could be waiting awhile. I bought it from a dealership with a fast intake and headers when i purchased ultimate warranty!! Hope they dont call back with bad news not wanting to cover. The dealership sent TAC data results to GM , so i will find out i suppose.
it looks need a new spark plugs to me like tune ups I never had that in my 2014 Camaro but my Truck was .so I send to the dealer for tune up and change one of the coil and it's gone back to normal.
No...you wouldnt have saved money...unless you're a REAL mechanic who's bought all the necessary tools AND specialty tools to remove a valve spring w/o removing the heads...then NO...you wouldnt have saved money...you could've even possibly made it worse too...so thats good you took it to the dealership...$250s not that bad.
Hey man your video helped me a lot I have a 2011 Camaro SS and two of my cylinders cylinder 7 and cylinder 8 valve Springs were broken it sounds very similar like yours with the ticking and the check engine light flashing
So how did you fix it?
Crazy GM just announced the bad valve springs in these engines.
And now GM has finally admitted to faulty valve springs. My 2020 ticks on acceleration.
2020? Dude that sucks..
2014 Silverado 6.2 did the same thing. Broken valve spring number 3 cylinder. Replaced ALL springs
My 2014 Corvette Z51 did the same thing last week... i have a video and it sounded the same!
I appreciate you so much and thanks a lot you just helped a lot of people great job
Very lucky you didn’t destroy your engine. A knock like that you need to shut your motor OFF and diagnose. Hope it was a cheap fix
God I was thinking the same thing
Same thing just happened to me on my 15 silverado 6.2. only 70k miles 3 months out of warranty .
I just bought a 2021 yesterday and had this happen too me it was taken back to the dealer, and their looking into it now this video at least gave me hope that its not the end of the world lol
How mush you pay to fix it
LT1s been imploding since they came out in 2014
a temp gun on exh manifolds also works good for finding dead cylinder

Took my 2014 Camaro SS to the dealer for same symptoms. Dealer said it’s going to be $829 to open the engine and see...
How mush you pay to fix problem
@@TE-ni7em My lifters failed and damaged the stock cam. Paid 6700 for LS7 Lifters and Stage 3 Cam and tune.
They can't void the warranty unless they prove what you did cause the problem! Moss Magnuson Warranty Act.
Mine sounds exactly like this broke my fucking heart man haven’t even made first payment
Chevy didn't brake it, you broke it' my LT1 motor is running Sweeeet'

Exactly why I don’t buy GM or Chrysler. Hell, if DaimlerBenz couldn’t turn Chrysler around, nobody can. That’s why Fiat owns them now 😂
You put e85 in that? Asking for problems...
Sounds like a lawnmower to me. Hope you get luck fixing it!
Totally does! 8 cylinder car running on 6 :(
2012 Chevy Silverado 150 5.3 Done the same thing I think it's A defect Only has 30,000 on it

i feel you one of my pistons on my audi gave today and it sounded terrible

What was it?
@@haideralyassin1143 a broken spring on an intake valve. I replaced all of them with a set from Texas Speed
Was this for 6gen ss ? I Just install headers on mines & it started to tick I think it’s gonna be a broken spring as well

That’s a shame.. I’m not sure what it is with the valve train on these cars, they don’t hold up very well
Did u get any warranty ?
@Michigan Muscle yeah I have a v6 and the valvetrain is soooo weak on these cars might go something stronger
2014 camaro doing the same… went for a pull then loss of power🤦🏽♂️ do not know what to do
my car has a broken valve spring and it sounds nothing like this, this engine sounds like the valves gone
It sound like a Honda generator 😂
you should upgrade to dual springs
My 2017 SS is at the dealer, same exact thing happened and this is after the engine was replaced already!

Could possibly bend a valve so yeah I guess

All Detroit garbage. Should of bought a JDM
Man not go Mopar my shit ass dodge valve springs cracked and are a known problem for third gen Rams but they refuse to recall them
Thanks for sharing. 👍🏻👍🏻 🍀 🍀🍀
I’m in Michigan often we should meet up 💪🏾
I'm always on woodward when it's warm out! Keep an eye out
Michigan also where do you guys have meets at
BIG CAM!!!
I should!
What will you do now you have no warranty
Pay for it out of pocket
Michigan Muscle you’re still in warranty. Powertrain it’s at 60k miles, bumper to bumper is 36k miles.
@@lenack9365 Goodluck as they will find a way NOT to honor it lol
Lucky didn't bend a valve
bend a valve??? he's lucky it didn't suck a valve and knock a hole in the piston! when you hear or feel your motor running like this SHUT IT OFF!!!
How many miles you got
35k and going strong!
Can't help but to wonder. Same thing happened to subaru boxer engines. Bad valve springs. They were recalled also. Probably junk from China.
These are american cars 😲😲😲 brand New and coast 💸💸💸
