I’m 68, and I can’t believe I used to watch this every week, in 1962 and 63. I remember it being one of my favorite shows on TV. Our standards then weren’t ruined by CGI.

I’m in the UK and lived near a town called Slough. There was an industrial estate called Slough Industrial Estate. Next to a side road , Dover Road, over a railway line was the long single story building where all these were made
I was 7 and with a couple of friends we used to sit on the bridge road embankment and look down into the building. We saw Fireball XL5 being pulled on wires across a moon like table. We were lucky once when Silvia Anderson came out with some drinks for us. She explained that they would have to put blinds up at the windows because of the light
We never got to see in again but for a few weeks we did. I didn’t realise we were watching history

How cool. My Dad was stationed at RAF Chicksands near Bedford from '63 to '66. Loved this show, The Thunderbirds, and the rest. Sure do miss some great fish and chips from our mobile chippy in the Putnoe section of Bedford. Yanks can't make them for sh*t.

@@topgazza Agreed. I spoke to a gentleman from England several years ago and he told me his father ran a chippy in a small town near Nottingham and that the fish and chips are not what they used to be there either nowadays. He said his Dad used beef drippings to cook the fish and chips in originally and when everyone went bonkers about cholesterol etc, he switched, like everyone else, to vegetable oil and things were never the same. I'd say he nailed it. French fries in the States were much better back when everything was cooked in lard for the most part.

That Supercar theme song beats them ALL. And every TV show had some kickass theme music by the 70s with full on orchestras...But NOTHING is better than SUPERCAR!! I was lucky enough to find a Supercar Little Golden book years ago. 👍👍👍👍 My love for Supercar has to come from growing up outside Detroit with a GM tech designer dad & seeing concept car designs & new cars not in production yet such as the 67 Camaro drawn on the formica dining room table. Having muscle cars as the family vehicle such as a Corvette in 57 & then the Camaro then the 70 SS Chevelle in the driveway being souped up to 500HP might have something to do with it. MORE POWER, CAPTAIN!!😁

This was a masterpiece; years ahead of its time when compared to other children's tv puppet shows, and not many years after Muffin the Mule, which was very basic indeed. OK, it seems clumsy now, but back then...... I can just remember 'Four Feather Falls', which may have inspired 'Toy Story's Woody. Thanks for bringing this back to life........

Appointment TV for me when I was 10 years old. I was surprised when it disappeared after just a couple of years, at least where I lived. 60 years have gone by since I last saw it - it never showed up in syndication. I suppose not enough episodes were produced. When I saw the thumbnail on my feed, the theme song immediately came to mind, and I remembered most of it. I hate to be positive, but I love TH-cam for being a vehicle to bring back the entertainment of my childhood.

The design of the supercar model reminds me of one of the GM cars of future in the 1950s.

Thanks for the upload I loved this show as a kid. Full Boost vertical. I just realized this was some sort of British production I think. I picked up the accents and ITC is a British production company.

Actually, ITC was started in America by business executive Jack Wrather of Lone Ranger fame. He wanted to export his programs to the UK for bigger profits, thus striking a deal with impresario Lew Grade. The rest is history.

Following those final tests on Supercar before it’s maiden run, those exhaust smoke marks suggest it might be running a little rich. Still at just about 35p a gallon back then….😁

Love the eyebrows of Mike Mercury. Thank God, no unibrow. Was a Fireball XL5 fan. Not too familiar with Supercar. Engine crapping out, sounds like my old Optima.

It must be true that boys never grow up. I watched this after school more than 60 years ago. I’m in my 70s and just watched this episode. My wife watched over my shoulder then I’m sure she rolled her eyes as she left the room…
