Decided to give this game a second try since i really sucked in my first playthrough! Made it all the way to insane mode where i got my ass handled as expected.
I wonder why Namco decided to make the arcade mode different when the game was ported to the PS1. Unlike the first and third game's PS1 arcade modes, they were exact replicas of their original arcade versions.
I played this version in a museum not long ago and I have to say this version is much cooler then the PS1 version for a few reasons: 1.The Aztec temple for the final stage looks better then the castle and theme park in the PS1 version, seriously that version made me think strongly of Disney Land. 2.The music in this version sounds so much better then on the PS1. 3.I like how in this version when you finish a stage instead of having a colored flag covering it up, it's Dr Don or Dan(the two Sesame Street lookalikes)depending on which player you are. The only bad things about this version for me though is the gun calibration and the annoying recoil delay. I remembered failing some stages just because the stupid gun wouldn't aim in the right places or I can't shoot quick enough because of the recoil on the gun. But that's just me since I grew up with the PS1 version so i'm used to the super accurate and recoil free GunCon or G-Con45 where I live.
Not to mention the arcade version has a larger amount of mini games, and the high score entry is a mini game (like the other two games) instead of an inaccurately programmed generic screen. I'm in and out about moving the Cosmo Gang mini game to the Adventure Mode rather than Insane Mode.
