Would You Be Impressed by Streetlight Manifesto. :) Be really cool if you did the bass and drum duo. Would definitely give a challenge to both of them!!
This is a tough one but ya'll should look at Coheed and Cambria as a source of material (like A favor house atlantic, or Welcome home), or something like YYZ or Limelight by Rush. They're both prog and could be a unique challenge for these talented lads while being well known enough to catch viewers
As soon as I see a cymbal as square as the one behind him, I know I'm about to hear something impressive. Only people who _really_ know what they're doing feel comfortable enough to start bringing goofy things like that into their kits.
Dude, I absolutely love how many of these folks are smiling the whole time. They are in stressful situations playing music they aren’t comfortable with, and are humble and great enough of musicians to have fun despite the uncomfortable situation! I love it!
Musicians usually aren't as tied to a genre like many fans are, so they are like to appreciate the skill. While this isn't exactly jamming, they can still learn new things. Like greatness appreciates greatness. If you follow sports and sports commentary, you know of retired players now on YT who say that modern players couldn't play back then. But look at the players who do that - they aren't Hall of Fame players. The ones who appreciate modern athletes? Usually the greats.
@@recoil53 It doesn't even take being a great musician. I am extremely meh as a musician but once I picked up the bass guitar I started enjoying more music. It is always wild to see how clever musicians are when they craft songs.

Whereas here they appreciate the choices and nuances the other musician made.
I think that sometimes too, but tbf in other hand, if someone shows me a "big hip hop name", let's say big as green day on punk rock, I'll probably wouldn't know either, since I'm more into the rock style, ( I know very little about hip hop ). So I guess he "know" just like, heard on radio, but easily he turned to another station and forgot about it xD - At least, I guess is more like that
Would be more believable if they played like any other song from Dookie. Because I can believe he doesn't know the song very well, and he likely never listens to Green Day, but I just don't buy that he's "never" heard this song before Other than that, great video
Same. Don't buy it. I can see someone not knowing who it's by and not really being familiar with the song, but they should at least just recognize the tune like "Oh yeah I've heard that before"... Like this is a guy in the music industry, not sure his age but he looks like he's in his 40s thereabouts -- so it's his generation's music, AND the song has been famous probably his entire professional career... appearing on the radio, movies and other media, getting played a lot across our society for 30 years now... Not buying it one bit.
For those who enjoyed this I HIGHLY RECOMMEND listening to the whole Dookie album. One of the biggest albums of the 90s, one of the biggest pop punk albums of all time, and a drumming tour de force by Tré Cool.
I know so many people whose first time hearing Green Day was Wake Me Up When September Ends, and they think they're just a pop band. I'm glad Green Day finally got the money and fame they deserve, but many people have no idea about their previous work.
Or Avenged Sevenfold also and Dream Theater ...drum legends in my book, both the Rev, Portnoy of course...and even Mike Mangini too has some incredible precision on a kit!
It's cool to see how much the fills add to this song. Listening along to it when he was playing the first time was strange because it was all there but missing that little bit. Adding a bit of the fills in the second attempt immediately made it sound more fitting to me. I know it's simply because I've heard the song a ton but I found it interesting.
It's so cool that drumming seems to be something of a "universal language" among drummers, even across different genres. They all seem to be able to say "ok, I see what they're doing here..."
As a drummer, it’s true. Even if I may not be able to replicate what a great drummer is doing, I still understand the basic framework of what’s going on & what they’re doing. Once you know the time signature, it (kinda) takes care of itself. The rest is up to the skill of the person playing the instrument. The great ones can take your breath away & you think, “never in a million years would I (or could I) have done that!”

@@puteraslayer Thankyou
That was sick! Good work , Buggs!!!
Very good!! 👍 😂👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
The first take was great! And I’m a big Green Day fan since the early 90s
Love it, keep the videos coming please!
This guy was great! awesome drums too!
When he uses just the hi hats on the first part (verse 1), I know that he KNEW THE SONG ALL ALONG!
Killed it again boyz!!! 🔥🔥🔥
As wild as it is that a professional musician has never heard Basket Case before, Bravo Buggs killed it!
Not gonna lie, the green lights making googly eyes on his sunglasses are hilarious 😂
Stellar performance.
I haven't played in years, I'm obviously gonna need to head to a music store and check out all these new types of cymbals.
He was pretty solid on his interpretation
11:17 The comedic timing of the lyrics "Grasping to control, so I better hold on" and the mic falling exactly at that line.
The biggest impact you made the second time around was going to 8th note closed high hats during the verse. It drove the song like the original. Excellent adjustment!!
Oddly, the first beat he does, with the quarter notes and accents on the bass drum is a lot more common in modern punk
That’s was awesome!!!
KILLER VIDEO MAN! TELL BRAVO, "HELLO AND MAD RESPECT", FROM THE ONE AND ONLY LORI BRAVO! THAT'S RIGHT! ^..^😈🤘⚜
Bravo is a good dude! He actually bought a kit from me a couple of years ago. Good job bro!🔥
HELLLLZ YEZZZ! BRAVO GOT THOSE KILLER BLAST BEATS THAT TRE' COOL IS INFAMOUS FOR! ^..^ SALUD! ^..^
Great video!
Is it a little thing that he nails the open high-hat in the intro? Love this video's entire style. I know a lot about Green Day but not a lot of hip-hop. These two have great vibes! Thank you!!
This is brilliant! Mr Bruggs dances on that kit
You know you are a really really really really really really really really really good drummer when you can just play nonchalantly and have a giant smile on your face like, this is 7:00 a.m. workout stuff LOL
As a musician that grew up around a lot of rock and punk - I love seeing drummers of different genres on your channel - Id really love to dig into some of these genres - any chance you can get like an old school funk/gospel drummer to come in and do like a history on those genres? Really love the vids dudes/dudettes!!
Love hearing different groves to music! Keep up the good work!
