I married a beautiful lass from Scotland 47 years ago. I heard about the Military Tattoo for nearly 50 years but we never got to go. My wife had seen it several times in her childhood. We finally traveled to beautiful Scotland this year and were in the stands on the opening night, August 4th. It was everything that I had heard and more. It was very emotional for my wife and I as we were in Scotland to scatter the ashes of her father who had passed away at the age of 94 this past November. I only wish that he could have been there with us.

Writing here from the Mediterranean shores, seeing it all hypnotized, from another culture, a different climate, a different language, and never having visited Scotland (yet) before, hard thus for me to explain how Soul-stirring and heart-touching it is to see, in full awe, such a majestic display of beauty. The respectful pride towards the heritage, the timeless elegance of the costumes, the many different layers of instruments so masterfully combined, the drums to which one's heat (and feet!) unavoidably get in sync with, those moving bagpipes literally lifting one's Spirit to heaven... one of the World's most emotional and powerful cultural expressions we undoubtedly have to pay a visit to soon. Bravo Bravo Bravo!!! See you next year at Edinburgh ❤!!!
