Glad I found this series! I'll find the playlist and pay close attention to the contents. Should help me a lot on my journey.

Helpful series, great insights! Watched them all and coming back to the first to place my comments. A friend got a secondhand one in much worse shape than this one and it could be a good one to try some skill building on! Thanks!

Very interesting series... I have a Russian Bayan, with which to start learning to play. The leather valves are curling too. Can a novice realistically replace them without causing irriversible damage? I would prefer to pay someone, but I guess its quite expensive and it is a new hobby. What would you advise?

If you are careful when removing reeds and revalving and rewaxing you can't really come to any harm .it's the tuning that can cause real permanent damage - you need to take care when scratching or filing reeds - you can easily ruin them.
Always practice a lot on low value accordions before tackling any accordion of value!!!

you can buy plastic valves for accordion, more reliable..under no circumstances try to tune an accordion without a lot of experiance....i tried it once and made a right mess of it

Hello I inherited a vintage Caruso Model 300 Accordion. It hasn't been played in a very long time and about 7 of the keyboard keys are sluggish or very slow to come back up after key is pressed. Would you know what is causing this? Can the keys be lubricated? or cleaned underneath? Every key does play a note. thank you for your help!

      Hello!
It could be due to a number of things - it may be due to a problem with spring tension- when you press a key down its spring tension that brings it back up.
It maybe that some keys are rubbing against each other - and then slowing down the key return- this can happen with keys that have wood under the plastic key tops- the wood can swell. If you get a piece of fine sandpaper, and push it between keys that may be rubbing and gently work the sandpaper up and down you can sometimes free the key up.
      Good luck !!

update: turns out all the keys were attached to a central rod. I just had to apply a small amount of 10W-40 lube to each key pivot joint and they all work like new!
