Thank you so much for these videos! I'm embarking on my first accordion restoration now, and it's a similar design to this one - it even has the glued-on bass bank. Your channel is a fantastic resource.
I have took the old one out, and it seems have two layer before, one layer of potential foam? and a layer of maybe leather but very thin. I put a new foam one to replace them. but it seems at one spot, it is not well sealed. I wonder maybe i should put another layer of foam? my accordion is welmeister S5, probably more than 60 years old?
Hello It icould be that that the bellows frame where you attach the bellows gasket isn't completely even - there may be some low points or maybe some warping of the sides of the bellows frame - you may be should investigate the bellows frame further before adding another layer of gasket - if you add too much gasket you run the risk of the bellows pins holes not lining up anymore - so you would then have to fill in the holes and then drill new ones 🙂
@@richedwards9646 Thank you. this explain why there is old holes been filled and these are the new holes! I did end up with put another layer and it solved the leak problem now!! thank you so much!

Thankyou do much ! That's really kind - good luck with your accordion- my top tip is try to do everything as neatly and as carefully as possible!
@@richedwards9646 Excellent advice! And the opposite of how I usually approach things, but I will try.
Mr. Rich does the gasket have to sit flat on the bottom part or kind of angle between both pieces ?

My question is same as Niner Gold Rush, does the gasket sit flat on the bottom or at kind of an angle in the “corner “ between the bottom and side?
Hello Cindy
The gasket sits flat all the way round .
Rich, what quality tape you are using or brand name, common adhesive tape please?
Hi Joseph
I use bellows gasket purchased online from CGM musical. It's run by Charlie Marshall- he's a really nice helpful guy.
