I understand most riders don't ride much, something I don't get. I've got over 30k on my 2016 Gear Up and was just wondering when to expect things to start happening. Guessing I've got a ways to go before I start worrying! I bought my bikes to ride, not just to walk around in the shop.
All depends on how hard they are run. It is fun to run one at wot, but it does reduce the life of the engine. It becomes a pay to play: run hard, spend $$
@@heindlengineeringmotorcycle Thanks for this...what does "wot" stand for? I'm wondering how hard I run mine, as its only 2 years old and I have 20,000kms on it...I love riding it ;)
Very informative video Jon. I realise this motor had a major part failure, but I'm curious as to how many kilometers do you normally see on a bike in need of a major overhaul? Keep these videos coming!
That’s a pretty cool tool you got there to get stuck piston pins out, never seen one before..!! 9:55 I guess they wouldn’t work to well on the Lycoming or Contenantel horizontally opposed 4-6 cylinder aircraft engines as you need a lot of room on either side of the cylinder for that, especially if it was the Middle cylinder on an opposing six..!!! Probably why I never saw one.🤷🏻♂️
@@heindlengineeringmotorcycle they also sell a bunch of them on Amazon from $16,36 on up as much as you’d like to pay 💰 but at 73 I doubt I would need one now, got along this far without one. Nonetheless it was interesting seeing you use one…!! 👍
@@heindlengineeringmotorcycle thanks Jon, how to determine if my rims were replaced or on the recall? rims are perfect looking bike is a 2016 with only 10,000km. doesent get driven much. is there a vin # list of effected Urals?
I keep forgetting about the air cooled part. My old BMW was an oil head with an oil cooler. I will just keep enjoying mine and try to take good care of him.

I only have 15,000 kliks on mine, I feel much better!

Cool video. Thanks man.

Very few units ever get high mileage as most folks only average 5,000 or so a year, so it is hard to give a definitive answer on that question

Simple wrist pin puller...you can make one in a pinch with sockets, washers, nut and long bolt.

Absolutely fabulous video, Jon! Love it!!
did you use vin# or just year to determine if the Ural got the rim recall done?
Vin, some have already been replaced before the recall and as such don't get replaced again

Good afternoon! How much mileage does a motorcycle have?
a constant problem with the special tool flywheel bolts
I wrote a comment on the limitations of an oil bath system and it disappeared. Is this an oil bath or splash system engine .
Fab👌
I’m kind of surprised that a bike with just over 56k miles has to be completely overhauled.
Was the bike abused or is 55k about it for a URAL engine?
We have seen other brands of air cooled units due for their 2nd rebuild at that amount

@@heindlengineeringmotorcycle Does adding an oil cooler extent the life of the engine on these bikes?
thats less than 60 thousand miles for a full rebuild not good
For one used at WOT for most of its life it is not bad
I was REALLY amazed it made it that far. Honest.
