  • A Day Trip to Windsor is a fantastic day out, we'll take you on a walking tour of Windsor & Eton showing you the best things to do in Windsor with some history along the way. Windsor Castle is now home to Queen Elizabeth II known as Royal Windsor. Windsor Castle has been around for 1000 years and 39 Monarchs have lived there. Elton College across the River Thames is equally famous.
    In this video we take a boat down the River Thames from Windsor to Boveney Lock, walk the historic streets and look at some of the fine buildings. We trek to Windsor Great Park for views of the Long Walk and then cross into beautiful Eton to tour the High St and Eton College. Hope you enjoy our route, and have a wonderful day trip to Windsor should you go.

    We hope you enjoy our tour of Windsor and Eton. **Note a correction* On the river we mentioned Ascot Racecourse. This should have been Windsor Racecourse.** Also look at our socials for more photos instagram.com/memoryseekers/ facebook.com/memoryseekersuk Our website also has more information and places to visit. www.memoryseekers.net For something to watch next why not try another location close to London. I love these cities that you can stroll around feeling the history. The most amazing thing is some of the buildings are so old but still standing firm. Probably they will outlast many modern buildings. Thanks again, you two are so amazing taking us along on your journey. =-)

      Yes I am sure the building will outlive the lifeless structures we tend to build today. I cannot image people wanting to visit buildings built in the 21st century in a few hundred years 😊😂

    Windsor was the first place my cousin took us after we arrived in England. It's lovely to see the river, charming shopping areas, and green open space so close to a city as large as London. I've read before that all of the swans belong to Her Majesty, but it was fun to see them. So beautiful!

    Windsor has become my go to place for last night before flying home to US. Only 15 drive through the parkland where Magna Carta was signed to get to Heathrow and as you show, lots of things to see and do in Windsor.
    I’m sorry to see the slanted house looks empty now. About 10 years ago, it was a tea room. My mom and I had lunch on the first floor. Funny it didn’t look as slanted from inside
    I enjoy traveling with you to all these places I’ve already been. You always add in something I missed plus stories about things I saw but didn’t know.
    Thank you for this series

    I visited Windsor and London way back in 1977 during the Queen's Silver Jubilee, I think I was 12 at the time so I can't say it appears at all what I saw back then but vaguely the same. We even got a glimpse of Elizabeth in her golden carriage. Not sure if the picture we took still exists. I am grateful to see that there is so much more to the UK than London where you can't even see all the numerous sights, so many museums and interesting places, and that so many of the towns and villages are being preserved and visited. And not being left to crumble away like they are in so many parts of the world. Thank you for sharing your time with us out here in TH-camland!

    I used to live near Windsor & went to school there in the late 50s early 60s, it sure has changed however one of my lasting memories was travelling to Windsor by bus when the bus driver tapped on the window & pointed, there was the Queen & Prince Philip on horse back, NO SECURITY, they were just waiting for a gap in the traffic so that they could cross the road & carry on towards the copper horse monument.

    Thank you Simon and Will for yet another brilliant video. You take the viewer to so many interesting places and give an insight into the history of each place you visit. As with any popular place I am sure Windsor is full of the usual tourist shops. I really enjoyed the river trip at the beginning and totally agree with you when you suggest to arrive early to avoid the crowds. Looking forward to the next video. p.s. I am still working my way gradually throught your past videos and yet to find one which I have not enjoyed. Thank you.

    What fun to visit Windsor again albeit vicariously. Took our two oldest granddaughters to Europe in 2019 and spent the day at the castle and environs, but you showed parts we missed - very nice job, as usual. ❤

    What beautiful content you make, a lovely speaking voice and very interesting information too, l came across your channel on recommendation when l was watching other videos about the Cotswolds, places so stunning across the water from me, you certainly make a person want to hop on a ferry and visit. Yours are by far my favourite on the old TH-cam. Thank you for this upload. Loved it.

    A great presentation and very well filmed. I liked the boat trip at the start. That kind of drew us into the rest of the story .
    I visited once quite a long time ago and can remember the old railway station. I imagine one needs a fair sum of money to go on a cruise or an open top bus. As for that river side eatery. I doubt if you would get in there without booking.

    • @MemorySeekers
      @MemorySeekers  ปีที่แล้ว

      The open top bus is £14 for a day card, and the cruise we did was £11 for the hour. Booking ahead is always good if possible but you never know, just depends on the day, time and numbers of other people that have decided to head to Windsor. There are a few riverside places to choose from.

    An excellent video guys, I now live in Canada and it's great to see my old home, where I grew up. I would like to take this opportunity to point out that on your river cruise you point to Ascot racecourse which is in fact Windsor racecourse. Nevertheless a brilliant video, thank you, btw I have subscribed to your channel because of the excellent standard of presentation.

    • @MemorySeekers
      @MemorySeekers  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Robert yes we did make the mistake on the racecourse, don’t know why I had ascot in my head. We put a note in the first comment a while back about it. So glad you enjoyed the tour 😊
