Aang, as a nomad raised without traditional parents, is just like, " you're not happy here, move on," without really understanding what that would mean to Toph's relationship with her mom and dad.
Fun Fact: The Boulder is a parody of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, and they tried to get The Rock to do the voice, but there was some sort of scheduling conflict, so they got Rock's friend, Mick Foley, another wrestling legend, to do his impression of The Rock, and it turned out amazing! One might even say it was a Rock-solid performance by Mr. Foley..... I'll see myself out now..... 😅
Let's just say that while Toph is awesome, it depends on what you look for in a character and who you personally vibe with the most. Ton of great characters in the show.
The Boulder is 100% supposed to be based off of The Rock XD Oh and the "Fire Nation" guy was not actually "Fire Nation". He was playing a character for the ring, much like WWE has it's "bad guys", so did this.
Yes, I've been waiting for this! You guys accidentally picked a great spot to pause the show. After Toph is introduced, the show just keeps getting better.
Toph's father is likely more worried about reputation than anything else. First he hides his daughter from people because she's blind, a disabled child might harm their reputation. And then when he sees and understands what she does in her secret life he's even more worried about what she could do to the family reputation in an underground fighting ring.
If you take into consideration that Toph's family is ultra rich high society crowd, it's easier to think of reasons why they are so "protective" and not just of their daughter...
Thank you so much for your content! Avatar is an AMAZING show with a crazy world and character building and I think you two are just the right creators to watch it. You two are so emotionally intelligent, get the details and are also so funny! I love your humour and your chemistry. Keep it up and believe me when I say: It just gets better and better.
she knew they were being ambushed because even though aang couldn't see them she can clearly "see" them moving around around them getting ready to jump them
4:45 I think that's why they had that one guy openly accept the water tribe money. Aang would assume since the one guy was good with it everyone would be. Also could just be that they didn't want to let him post bail and looked for any excuse not to accept payment.
I'm not really into Wrestling and born in the 90s, but I'm always surprised how many reactors don't pick up on the fact that Fire Nation man is a classic parody on Cold War Era Heels that would pretend to be Russian (or some other kind of foreigner).
@@oq1106 Yeah, most of those guys, along with most the so-called "Middle-Eastern" wrestlers were born and bred in the U.S. or Canada, a few of them had been in North America for many generations. The actual number of "Russian"/"Soviet" and "Middle-Eastern" wrestlers was really tiny, compared to how many just pretended to be from "some country we don't like at the moment". 😄 Nowadays, there a quite a few more wrestlers who are actually Russian or Middle-Eastern, or have bloodlines to those areas, and they're only portrayed as "heels" (bad guys) sometimes, if that's what is needed for story-line purposes.
@@KC_ESQ Yes, but he's also a sandbender. I just double checked and confirmed that I remembered correctly -- it's on the wiki and sourced to the DVD commentary.
This is one of my favorite episodes. They spend the whole time on trial like “Avatar Kyoshi would never do that” then she comes out like “oh yeah I did that ish” WHAT?!??😂😂😂😂
The Boulder is supposed to be like a parody of Dwane Johnson and they wanted him to voice him originally but due to scheduling conflicts weren't able to so instead they got Mick Foley who is in the WWE Hall of Fame to do the voice. Also Fire Nation Man isn't actually a fire bender. In WWE they will have "villians" be part of it for the audience to cheer against and get easily beaten, and that's who Fire Nation Man is in this. Also he's heavily based off of one in particular who would sing the Soviet Union National anthem before matches, hence the Russian accent.
I'm so looking forward to the next episode. If I remember correctly, it's Zuki Alone, which is just amazing. Uh, and then The Chase. I hope we may get new reactions to ATLA more frequently :)
If you guys haven't seen Lisa Frankenstein yet, I promise you, you will love it ! I thought of you guys as soon as I finished it lol. Don't know if you know but it's film writer,Zelda Williams, first big film ( I think it is her first film period, might have to fact check that)! She is the daughter of beloved Robin Williams! The movie is absolutely stunning and It's already criminally underrated in my opinion!
It's a nice detail that the villagers dehumanize Aang so much, that one of them literally says " *It's* going to kill us with *it's* awesome Avatar powers!"
Tbh I understand the parents. They just scared of their (12 y old blind) daughter. They care about her unlike other rich families who let the Nanny do the parenting and are not there for her. And to be fair Toph hid this from her parents for awhile because of asuming how they would react. Oc they were shocked after they found out what Toph is doing. Maybe things would be different if she would have been truthful from the start. But she is a child so I dont blame her for that. Over protective? Yes. Was the father over reacting after they found out the truth? Maybe but thats their little child, who are we to judge? Nothing against Toph I love her and I know she is capable but I do understand the parents.
They didn't kidnap Toph - they just assisted her in running away. 🐒Now, I believe that Toph is 12, like Aang, and it seems that by 16 you are viewed as an adult [which kind of fits the "time period" this seems to fit into - 1800s] so maybe at 12 - running away from home is not even seen as an issue for the law - it's just "family business"
So, originally The Rock was supposed to voice The Bolder, but I think he as a stipulation that he is to win any and all fights he is in. So, Mick Foley voice him and modeled the behavior after his former tag partner.
24:16 He didn't deserve that, he hasn't done anything YET, He thinks someone cheated which I mean, I would be mad also 😅 31:12 She also just beat them plus like 4 other guys asses by herself, and He sends them after her when she's with the avatar, and damn near a waterbending master, a bison that also fights. Yea real smart dude 😭
Toph is my 2nd fave character. Love her so much; she's a badass. Another fun react & looking forward to more episodes of this. So many good ones coming.
Toph is older in Fortnite, because of the character height. It would be advantageous if you had a character skin that is just smaller than other skins, as that (technically) means a smaller hit box ... and that's just pay 2 win (Fortnite gladly doesn't do that) ... For a similar reason, Morty from RIck&Morty isn't just walking around normally, he is in this Mech-suit to make him taller ^^
Toph’s parents aren’t just protecting her. They are protecting their public image. Having it known that they have a blind daughter would affect their social status. Seen this sort of thing too many times. I’m sure they do love her in their own way, but she is a thing of value/weakness to them first. ATLA touches on a lot of issues like this.
Or they are just scared for her and want their (12 y old, blind) daughter safe thats it. Even thou she showed them what she can do Tbh better have rich parents who cares about their daughter instead of rich parents who let the Nanny do the parenting Why would they care if anybody would notice if she is blind? If so he would not let the avatar inside or would not let Toph sit with them at the table. There are also guards, her earthbending teacher and now the wrestle fighters
@@opromlie2272 Context matters. Nobody else even knows the Beifongs have a daughter. This means they don't want it known. Sure, they are probably concerned for her safety, but it's not just that.
the show only gets better now! also pretty sure the Fortnite Toph reacts differently with emotes since she’s blind lmao. try them out and compare it when using other characters. I think the developers put extra detail into it 😂

Toph is the best added to the main cast only after a first season TV character ever.

The fire nation fighter on the tournament is actually an earth bender. He is just from fire colony in earth kingdom
