I really hope this gets funded, because this is such a great idea for a fighting game. Despite the lack of polish at the moment there’s so much talent and passion on display that I wanna see this through to the end!
I feel like people are just kind of burned out on kickstarters. For every one that actually ended up resulting in a good game/product, there are countless others that went nowhere or were just total disappointments.
@@Half_Bl00d_H3R0 There's also the simple fact that people aren't doing so great right now. Had this kickstarter appeared during the lockdowns, I'm sure it would've gotten more traction.
This game has so much potential for more characters. Imagine a Not-Bionicle, a Not-Transformer that can actually change form as one of his special moves, a Not-Stretch-Armstrong, a Not-Pizzazz who fights using the POWER OF ROCK, and at least one toy that's completely thematically inappropriate for a fighting game to be the "joke character" skilled players can wreck your shit with nonetheless. Oh, and they totally need to change the select screens to call the characters "action figures" and the stages "playsets."
I'm imagining a launchable projectile your guy can shoot, then when it bounces off of the enemy you can snatch it out of mid-air to load and shoot it again to extend your combo.
Your stupid b.tch sister has a new boyfriend? Uh-oh! Looks like it's time for the Sprogginator! Load up the Evil Cauldron with snot, turn on the switch and watch it heat up! Pick up your brand new vat of Evil Ooze (tm) and dump it onto that fucking sow! Hell yeah! The new Sprogginator from Mattel, batteries sold separately.
This is it EXACTLY. Oozebite is the amalgamation of two of some of the biggest toy crazes of the late 80s into the very early 90s. Monsters and Gross out stuff. Your sister has an EZ Bake Oven? Cool, we're gonna have a EZ BAke Oven for boys but call it a Quesy Bake Oven and it makes Booger Cookies and Mud Pies. Don't want that Care Bear with the hearts? Yeah, screw that thing, here have a My Pet Monster with BREAKABLE SHACKLES.
I think he’s meant to be My Pet Monster crossed with Inhumanoids... specifically the Inhumanoid D'Compose who had the exposed rib cage that opened up. He’s furry like My Pet Monster, has yellow eyes like My Pet Monster, he’s got metal cuffs like My Pet Monster, and he’s got some big sharp teeth like My Pet Monster. My Pet Monster and Inhumanoids also came out the same year as each other.
Yeah, Justin Wong and everyone else. I don't know why the developers didn't think this through in offering demo copies to the TH-cam giants at the initial drop of this campaign. Lot of potential for this one.
So we got a He-Man, a Skeletor, a Voltron/Gundam (or actually Mazinger Z, come to think of it), a Street Shark, a Ninja not-Turtle, and general "gross monster toy", unless Oozebite is a more specific reference I'm missing.
I really hope this video gives them some momentum. It's a real bummer to see something with this much polish and promise, but barely anyone has kicked in.
Toy fighter? Hmmm like a bite mark or germs?? Hell not a bad idea or concept of a game! id play this if it had online play or beat arcade mode at least combo trials action figures deserve a representation later then never 👍🕹️🎮
A wrestling action figure would be a great inclusion in this game, it could be inspired by the 90s WWF figures and maybe a stage where it's a wrestling ring playset with the crowd being the other figures in this game.
Yeah it's definitely lacking in female characters. I understand that it's fairly authentic to the types of toys marketed to young boys but I do feel like there's a lot of potentially interesting things you could do with a Barbie-like character (such as having her be able to swap outfits and get a different move set, maybe even repurposing the animations from other characters so that she can use their moves like Shang Tsung in Mortal Kombat, except that she wears a different outfit instead of physically transforming)
@@casanovafunkenstein5090 Or some anime figurines. Maybe that'll be in a DLC or a sequel where whoever's toy collection this is has grown up a little and has a bunch of figma of the supporting characters of some knock-offs of Bleach or Naruto.
Lockjaw reminds of Street Sharks, but also Bebop and the villains of Biker Mice. Maybe it's a triple homage (Ironically I haven't seen any of these cartoons jaja)
It is a reference to Biker Mice since in the lab stage you can see his box and it says Biker Barracuda from Bermuda and the logo is a parody of Biker Mice. I do also think he's a Battletoads reference because they're called Lockjaw, Wrecker and Splitz which for some reason reminds me of Rash, Pimple and Zitz, and the bike super looks like the bikes from Battletoads
@@Gamersgoinblind Oh I see! So he's one of the good guys of his series? I wasn't sure because he looked like a muscle henchmen, but it's true that the 90s loved heroes that looked like thugs jaja.
Oozebite feels like one of those groseout toys fromt he mid-90, that was almost all rubbery to simulate slime 'n snot. Would maybe had a couple of animated episodes if Mattel or Hasbro thought it could be something.
Really cool aesthetic and theme for a fighting game. Definitely makes me feel nostalgic. Shame the recording had issues and makes the game look choppy. Hope it gets funded!
This is so rad, the characters here already seem great, and think of the legally distinct knock off toys you could make! I'm thinking Not!Stretch Armstrong edit: Lol kept watching and then they mentioned Stretch
Man them not initially launching with a demo really fucked them on this, didn't it? You had this cool looking game, that had a full playable build, and you're asking people for a quarter of a million dollars to fund it, yet the devs are on twitter going "hey check out this demo build we got running at (insert random convention here)". Like dudes who gives a fuck what random pro FGC players in latin america you got to play it? They're not gonna fund that shit for you. You're basically just taunting your potential backers with the fact that they can't actually play your game that you want them to give you money for. And by the time they did get the demo out most people had probably given it the initial look over and passed, I know I had at least.
They did have a demo on launch of the Kickstarter. It was both on their Kickstarter and their website by the time the Kickstarter launched. The big issue was that they launched the Kickstarter without any lead up to it nor the time for people so there was no hype for it
@@Gamersgoinblind No it didn't. The demo didn't release until October 29th. You can literally go back through the updates on the kickstarter and see when they announced it. I was there at the start dude why bother trying to gaslight me on that?
not a fighter, but it reminds me of that cute indie game that simulates the childhood of growing up in buenos aires argentina. i need to look up what it was called...
The game looks great but I really wish they had approached the designs from the perspective of authenticity to the toys that inspired them. The joint articulation on these toys basically means they can move in ways identical to any other traditional fighter character, when the toys they're emulating had extremely basic motion - locked elbows and wrists, only vertical swivel on the shoulder, and then inhuman motions like 360 degree waist swivel. The end result would have been super jank looking because of the limited range of motion, but it would have been characterful and authentic, and most importantly would reflect how kids moved their toys when pantomiming these fights in their playtime.
I really hope this gets funded, because this is such a great idea for a fighting game.

Probably one of the best visual art styles i have seen in a while. And its in a freekin toy fighting game.

The Not-Bionicle would have a move where it windmills its arm/arms like you're spinning the gear on its back.
I'm imagining a launchable projectile your guy can shoot, then when it bounces off of the enemy you can snatch it out of mid-air to load and shoot it again to extend your combo.

"your sister's barbie doll" HAS to be a character for this game to be complete.
So we got a He-Man, a Skeletor, a Voltron/Gundam (or actually Mazinger Z, come to think of it), a Street Shark, a Ninja not-Turtle, and general "gross monster toy", unless Oozebite is a more specific reference I'm missing.
Could also be a Creepy Crawler reference, it had it's own animted tv series for a while, like Attack of the Killer Tomatoes.
Knock Off looks rad. The backgrounds being your back garden or a kid's bedroom works really well but also reminds me a lot of LBP. I loved LBP.
I really hope this video gives them some momentum. It's a real bummer to see something with this much polish and promise, but barely anyone has kicked in.
I love the art style here, everything looks like plastic toys
I wish theres visible damage to the plastic like how we fucked up our toys when we were kids

This is the true poor kid experience 🥲
Of course it is. It's fighting games. We poverty as hell.
@kandrs7445 i was more talking about the knockoff toys but that's true as well to some extent

It reminds me of Clayfighters on N64
I was hoping y'all would get to this one!
If this actually gets full funded. And it comes to console I'm getting it day one!
Idk if it's the game or Woolie's recording but the frequent framerate dips makes this hard to watch.
It's the recording, you can find other videos on this game that look much smoother.
I thought maybe it was my computer. Dumb thing's been acting up lately.
These framerates, man.
When's Merfight again?
Did someone make an oopsie and schedule this for 6am instead of 6pm?
That could be but also they were saying to get this video as soon as possible for the Kickstarter.
is no one else picking up mutant league from oozebite
Too zoomed in for my taste. Game looks great though.
I hope they add a Bionicle and name it like Hawk Tuah or something
