amazing video. thanks a lot. one slight issue for me about the soft saturation eq is, that its a kind of a global setting that will effect all the newly loaded instances of the plugin - when you might only want the saturation ON in certain specific scenarios.
tbh honest... everything until 20min mark was in the manual... but that trasnienst eq clipping tip was for me the reason why this whole video was worth it :D

Honestly, I've always felt iZotope could do a better job of explaining these little side-notes on their plugins. So many times I've wondered what's actually happening under the hood when I use their plug-ins. In fact, they could even have a series called "What's Happening under the Hood".
Just curious, why don’t you like surgical filters? What type of filters do you usually prefer? And why? Thank you for sharing your knowledge and expertise. I’m looking forward to purchasing your course Mixer Brain!
@@TheSwollenOneI don’t really have a filtering mindset is the short answer. Too much to explain here with text but you’ll see in the course ! :)))) Thank you for watching !
When you say clip the bounce is that even at the final master stage where you're trying to keep it at certain ceilings? Like you'd recommend uploading it to streaming service especially clipping a little that's not audibly bad. Or do yall mean let the mix bounce clip and then retain ceilings in the master.
@@junothemix sometimes artistically you can do what is wrong when you want something to sound bad intentionally to invoke some sort of feeling. In this case there is nothing wrong sending a clipped file (clipped any way you would like) to DSPs (check out Dylan Brady’s “my first time” as an example. I didn’t mix this but it’s a great example of what I’m talking about.
Can't you use the modules for intance Stabilizer directly on your channel strip? This should have been a 2 part video with more Ozone and a bit less of your opinion. Just a bit. It seems the guy from Izotope had more to say while explaining particular features. You may have cut him off a few times. This is still the best info on Ozone that I have seen to date.
“Ozone as a mix bus plugin, as opposed to a mastering plugin”. YES! IMHO, if you’ve not got a limiter/maximizer at the end of the chain, you’re mixing, not mastering.
@@unlockedaudio5109 not necessary to achieve my goals in music. Causes a great deal more strain on the cpu and storage requirements for no emotional / artistic gain.
Can izotope send out reps that have experience mixing and know how to speak? Man, this guy was off on so many things 😂 The reason stereo independence sounds better in most cases is because it spreads the stereo image. At 0, a lead that’s panned left will squash the dynamics of the right side making it sound more mono. If the right side breathes while the left side gets reduced by 1-2 on the limiter and vice versa, it makes the mix feel wider since L/R are getting processed differently.

Such a great, helpful video. Thank you! I didn't know about that EQ clipper feature, need to try it asap.
13:38 I thought at 100% you also have to click the chain link icon OFF between the two horizontal sliders to truly unlink the right and left?
