you missed young altair's story, where he already lost the life of his first love, the living piece of eden named Adha. after he lost her, he become enrages and kill anyone who responsible for the death of Adha, and its also the reason why Altair become such a selfish at the beginning of AC 1

and this is why i think Altaïr is the coolest assassin. Ezio is mentioned ONCE in the franchise after revelation, while Altaïr was the human plot device of revelation and left his footprints in 2 and brotherhood.

read the novel Assassin's Creed The Secret Crusade. AC1, Bloodlines and Revelations pretty much skimmed over aspects of Altair's youth.
Shows that Abbas and Altair were childhood friends. But when they were in their late teens, Altair told the truth of Abbas's father's death to him (Al Mualim thought it best that Abbas and the rest of the Order not know to spare Abbas the dishonor; which of course he was right), Abbas didn't accept the truth and held it against Altair, saying that Altair was lying for the rest of their lives.
Malik on the other hand didn't like Altair due to how arrogant Altair was in his youth. (a sentiment that many shared) However it was through Altair's redemption in the first game that Malik saw that Altair had learned his lesson, as well the revelation that Al Mualim had essentially become a Templar that forged the strong friendship and brotherhood that Altair and Malik would have for the rest of their lives.
I already knew all of this. Anyone who played Assassin's Creed and Assassin's Creed Revelations knew all of this.
Still, I suppose it's nice to have it all in one video. And that lost keys gag made me chuckle.

Altair is not named Son of None because his father was executed, he is named Son of None because his father was sacrificed to save Abbas's father when he'd been captured by invading forces. This is such an essential part of Altair's history, I can't believe you didn't even fact check it. The circumstances around Umar's death are what caused Abbas to betray Altair in the future because Abbas's father committed suicide out of survivor's guilt. Suicide was a very shameful thing in their culture and religion, so when Altair tried to tell Abbas about it, Abbas refused to believe it and accused Altair of lying to shame his father's name. This is why Abbas turns on Altair and we have the entire series of memories in AC Revelations where Abbas steals the Apple, kills one of Altair's sons (can't remember if it was Sef or Darim, think it was Darim), and beheads Malik. And can't you at least try to pronounce the names? It's not that hard, especially if you even halfway pay attention to the game's dialogue.

I feel like his inability to swim is because of the fact that he is carrying 10 throwing knives, each weighing 1.2 lbs, a 4.5 lb sword, a 2.5 lb dagger, a 1 lb hidden blade, and a 5 or maybe 8 lb outfit of linen and leather. It's a lot of extra weight. I actually don't think Ezio should be able to swim.

if you read the book, you would see that his right hand man/ best firend malik was imprisoned when he came back from the mongols. he busted him out and then went to abbas with maria to confront him but a spy went to his home and decapitated malik. when confronting abbas, his best friend's head was presented to him then the whole scene with maria happened. thats one more pain to add on him. thats one of the saddest things ever cuz he lost his best friend and wife on the same day. when he flees, he doesnt have his wife or best friend to console him, support him or strategize with him
He also lost his youngest son thanks to Abbas.

People may think I'm stupid and yes i realize his story isn't real but after listening to this vid and playing the game altair inspired me to always be humble and more open minded to have the ability to absorb more wisdom from life and other people around me and be more mindful of others thoughts and feelings i grew up being a selfish little shit but around 12 or 13 i really got into assassins creed and got all the games for ps3 and ever since then i feel more content and mature after seeing the inner change i went through to realize there is just more then me in this world and i feel much better for it thank you altair I'm grateful for the lessons of humility i learned from you

Altair CAN swim, the game just didnt have the mechanics for it and they used the excuse that the animus wasn't programmed to allow swimming. Basically, its the same deal with why they dont want to add driving gameplay in newer games.
Altair's leadership is one to be admonished. Maybe someday, someone will be worthy enough to maintain the order as he did.

And that's why Altair is the best assassin ever.
I, myself, would actually want an HD remake of AC1. The sound in the game sucked, and the graphics were.. iffy. It wouldn't even have to be a full game: maybe just like a DLC, that doesn't cost as much for people that have AC1 registered anywhere or people who have the digital copy from Revelations (like me). I just think it deserves to be put in HD.

EDIT: i dont actually know if the graphics are bad/iffy on the disc copy. i only have the digital copy. another reason it could also use a remake is the controls. i hate the controls ;-;

i find it interesting how altair willingly keeps ahold of the apple, knowing what it did to his master and friend, and knowing he may end up the same. he doesn't allow it to happen to anyone else apart from himself. despite all of his pain, he still gives up himself.
