That 1 driver is Stroll. Since Alonso himself admitted he’s useless at feedback and identifying problems with the car.
The same engineers without all the fancy facilities did fine with Perez/Stroll or Vettel/Stroll.

It must be tough too since Lance never admits his faults and blames something else. So he could come into a debrief after a crash and instead of saying like "Yeah my b, wasn't paying attention and lost it" he could come in and say "Yeah the rear end was super unstable and just let go on me" which then sends the team on a wild goose chase searching for this fabricated problem.

Andy Cowell is responsible with the finest V6, V8, and V10 of all time in Formula 1. Remember, he is so crucial to Mercedes-Benz that the car maker is willing to pay him to not work for any competitors.

Fully understand the need for AM to get their trackside operations in order first, before pointing the finger at the drivers (driver in this case). However, I stand by my point that if AM aim to become a serious organisation, Lance Stroll cannot be a part of that. He may have a place elsewhere, but Astons ambition must be reflected in their driver lineup.

Their trackside performance has been awful too:
    1. Pit stops: Beyond having many 4+ second stops, they’re one of the few teams I don’t remember once seeing have a sub 3-second stop the entire season and I pay close attention to all of their pit stops.
    2. Quali timing: Alonso literally took over determining his own timing after Silverstone where he was yet again put out so late he failed to get a Q3 run in at all. The 19-5 quali result actually hides the fact that 3 of those Stroll “wins” were due AM putting FA out too late to put a time on the board while LS had gotten plenty of margin. Then add cases when they put him out in such bad traffic or so late that he was severely compromised by wake or using battery just to make the line and it’s 5 times by the summer break they made a huge quali timing error.
    3. They were generally pretty solid on strategy. They made a few blunders, but fewer than most of their competitors.

@@JCLA-pp2cd Red Bull used Honda engines and they had no Japanese driver. Granted that Red Bull had a junior team, but just because a Constructor uses a specific engine, doesn't mean that the engine manufacturer has a veto on the 2nd seat. This veto only exists if it is written in the contract, and it is usually down to financial reasons. I doubt Lawrence would get Honda engines at 50% price just to have a Japanese driver, I am sure he will pay 100% for it. This isn't Haas or RB. Look at Williams, they could have taken Mick (Mercedes driver at the time) who would've come with an Engine discount but they chose not to.

Especially how, regardless of industry, the changes usually are the same foundational management concepts of clarity in responsibility and improved communication. It sounds like one thing that this change will do is free Mike Krack to utilize his strength as an engineer. Sometimes good workers want to become managers but once they have that position they realize that it's not for them. Their talents lie in other areas and people management and unlocking their potential is not one of those. Purely based on what was said here it seems that may be the case. I am really curious to see how AM performs in 2026 with the team being so revamped with the new personnel and biggest of all Adrian's arrival. Well at least Lance's no.1 fan can more focus on him with his new role
Jokes aside, this all started when they replaced Andrew Green with Dan Fallows, Green was part of the old management from the Force India days and designed a pretty good car in 23 giving AM podiums, then during that success he got replaced with Fallows who only made the car worse through the season and made a pretty mediocre car in 24 and couldn't even fix that, he got exposed for being a dunce instead of the Newey protege they sang lyrics about and they went for the master and brushed aside the pretender, but I'd argue if they had kept Green who was part of that initial plan of transforming the punching above team to a proper championship team and had him develop his car in 23, they'd be in a better place than where they are now

With the Newey "Dream Team"in place, there is nowhere for Lance to hide after 2026. 2025 still will be a hangover from the previous years without Newey input, but there after, there is nowhere for Lance to hide.
If Daddy Stroll wants to convince the world that AM is a world class and world beater, than he has to really look at the driver line up and maybe give Lance a tennis racket or a set of golf clubs.

Krack is an engineer, everybody is aware that he is no TP, and not suited to being a boss of Newey!
Cowell has a brutal CEO role of controlling Newey, Stroll senior, the factory, trackside, marketing, sponsors etc.
While it may not be best for the ego, this way Krack gets to focus on his real job.

Lots of folk rightly calling out the nepotism of Lance Stroll. But these ones are entirely missing the point.
The team is being failed by the team structure.
Too many cooks, too many competing egos.
    That cannot work....

I am really curious to how Lawrence stroll convince Andy Cowell to join Aston Martin considering he rejected Ferrari and Red bull crazy offers. Red bull was almost blank check when he left Merc. Andy Cowell is responsible for the best V6,V8 and V10 of all time in F1. Remember he is so important Mercedes Benz the car brand was willing to pay him money not to work for any competitors.

Mercs V10s were awful. Not as powerful as the BMWs or Ferrari, and massively unreliable.
And for most of the V8 era, Renault was the best with its off throttle exhaust gas.
And even the V6s, they were only good because Merc spent twice as much and 3 times as long on them.
As soon as F1 got rid of the token upgrade system, which meant everyone upgraded at the same pace, between 2017/8, Ferrari instantly surpassed them with their double ERS, and Honda (admittedly with some Merc help) immediately caught up

Lots of hate for Lance I think he is not the worst F1 driver certainly good enough to go for the team championship along with Fernando! They do need a vehicle and one that is not hot cold hot cold!
A little bump in the right direction and this team could be back at grabbing a couple of podiums again!
