Just wanted to thank you for the video.
My wife’s 2020 XLT 2.3L 4x4 went 51k before the driver side front outer cv boot popped. After trying a OEM Ford axle that was supposed to fit per 5+ “OEM parts websites” (had a female spline on the trans side rather than the male spline that it needed) I ended up ordering a GSP NCV11218 from Amazon and was able to easily replace the axle with the help of your video.
Thanks again for the detailed video- I greatly appreciate it!
Keep the shiny side up & cheers to you.
hey man really appreciate all your video about those police explorer !!! i just started working on them and did know much about these and its really helpful to have all these info you provided and to be able to see even before i took anything apart keep up you doing really good work really apreciate
Lol I was gonna comment on the brake line but then saw you mentioned it! Good job brother!!
Nice job, I have that exact problem with my 2020 Explorer!
Took my 2020 Explorer in for an oil change and my mechanic found this exact problem on both of mine
Thanks for posting this! I'm looking into getting on of these Explorer ST's and wanted to see how difficult potential maintenance would be. Much appreciated!
Nice work man! Ford really needs to up their quality game! I would expect that on some cheap autozone imported CV!
great video thank you for this.... I needed to know how to pull the axle out!!!!!
You provided great detailed information Great job! I wonder how many axles we all will replace before recalls if any.
Great video, bud. Very informative and extremely helpful. I'm gonna give it whirl. This outta be a real hoot.
Great job. Keep grinding bro. U do kille rework
Thanks man.... My car had the same issue. Dealer replaced the axle, but it is giving me a weird noise.
This is a great video, thanks for what you do
My pleasure!
Awesome Rich!!
Dealer replaced axle o ring in my Explorer ST recently because of oil leak coming from the front 4wd inner axle seal. Subframe was lowered to remove left side motor mount to gain access to bolts to remove axle housing.
Now I’m experiencing front left tire rubbing against inner liner when making u-turn or sharp left.
Could it be misaligned now or something went wrong putting back together?
What software were you using to gather all the useful info like torque specs and the job entirety for the process?
Nice job where you see how to fix or tie the bolts on the computer..
Hello, what is the part #for the new blue seal? I am planning on just replacing the seal since the actuator is still working fine but it is leaking,
Thanks in advance
awesome. ill be fixing ours here in a few days. 2 months out of warranty and only 15k miles and its puking grease on both CVs.
It's common on these and easy
Hi nice video and efforts. Dear what is your feedback about explorer 2020 and above having odd shaped like 'animal horn' control arm? Don't you feel it can hit the higher bumps and rocks etc as it is well below the body and front 2 tyres
Very useful, thanks!
Great job/presenty
I was surprised to find your video !!! Great job, I have 2 2020 Patrol Explorers 3.0 twin turbos,) same problem ), axles are on backorder, I ordered C.V.boots today, just to get the units back in service, then removed left front axle, boots will be here tomorrow. The reason I was searching for a video was , no oil came out when removing axle, just wondering if yours were the same,( Ford was in there already ), replacing an axle actuator, not sure if they didn't add fluid ? I'll try to check the level. Thanks for the Video- I SUBSCRIBED LIKE YOU ASKED-
You're not going to see fluid come out of there until you remove the Hub actuator which they remove the Hub actuator because the inner seal leaks it's a notorious problem that happens about every six to ten thousand miles it comes right back
@@FordBossMe Thank You Boss, I appreciate the quick response !!!
Hi, Great video! I have a 2020 Lincoln Aviator AWD Reserve II with air suspension. My front passenger side axel is busted. I’ve complained to Lincoln about a pulsing vibration ever since I bought it new but, they said they could never find the problem. I’ve worked on cars far approx 40yrs and I told them it’s most likely one of the CV axles but, they kept saying they can’t find anything. Now it’s gotten worse and it’s loosen and clicking. When I looked underneath it I saw grease splattered everywhere so, I was right….I was the axle the whole time. Lincoln is saying it’s probably not covered under warranty but, it’s only got 48k miles but the drivetrain is covered to 70k miles….is this true? Why wouldn’t the CV axels be covered? If I have to do this myself, is it done the same way on the Aviator? Thanks!
Should be covered
Good shit thank you
How difficult was it to get the axle to lock in on the tranny side?
Thank you!!!
I love watching you, I'm a technician also and you are a very good technician. Keep up the great work
Tyvm
Hey thanks for the video! I'm assuming this will work with the 2020 Platinum 3.0 as well?
Yes it will
There's a place online called Tasca fordparts.com and whenever you look up a part that tells you what all they apply to do that before you ever buy any Ford part and make sure your vehicle fits the description underneath the image at the bottom
If your replacing the axle wouldn’t it not care just to pull it out without the pry bar? I just did mine on my ST and surprisingly just needed a slight tug and the new one just bumped it with my palm and it slipped in
Some yes some no
I'm deep in the history of this vehicle - watch my new front axle disconnect video in the library
@@FordBossMe ok I will definitely book mark it for next time on the passenger side. Now I did the drivers I feel like that side will go soon
Is this what’s needed for a bad awd actuator? I was told the shaft will need replaced. 2020 interceptor 3.3
If you look in my library you'll see I talk to you about it and I show you the part numbers and I go over how to do the repair
th-cam.com/video/CXrQHnc8sp0/w-d-xo.html
Do the replacement axles have the problem fixed or are you just buying more time?
Supposedly they're fixed
Is the rear just as easy on the 22. Very informative thanks
Yes
@@FordBossMe awesome. My dealer is telling me nothing is wrong on my ST and i get a weird hum/vibration from the rear side its not the wheels or tires had them replaced elsewhere. So gonna do the hub and axel.
Is the procedure the same with the 2nd Gen Raptor?
Pretty much
Hey man, you got any tips for ball joints on a Town Car?
I have not done ball joints on one yet, im actually going to do the whole lower control arms on both sides soon
@@FordBossMe got it, I've gotta do my front left side because my wheel hub snapped my knuckle in half
On the new Explorers have you ever seen a leak where the drivers side axle passes through the engine?
I talk about it on the Channel all the time it's common you put a new seal on it it comes back leaking 10,000 15,000 miles later
Yeah it's nothing new that's old news here
@@FordBossMe I just found your video on it. Lovely... 16hrs of them tearing into the engine compartment, no thanks. I will clean it and attempt to seal with "Right Stuff". Can't hurt to try and it can hurt to allow the stealership to tear into it.
You forgot to pull the brake line to other side of strut 😅
My Wife's 2020Is same way Less than 4000.Miles! 2.3 turbo ECOBOOST XLT 4and 2.
Seen this a few times also
Do you have to go for a wheel alignment after installing this front cv axel??
Typically no unless there's other suspension parts wore out or you took apart things that were not supposed to be taken apart
@@FordBossMe ?? The moment you loosen the strut to knuckle bolts, you're supposed to get an alignment done.
any TSB on this?
Yes
Same issue on a 2020. Ford living up to its name Fix Or Repair Daily
All makes and models do this kind of s*** and when people leave these comments I typically have to remind them remember this is the industry that we're in we have to fix these things and they all do it sometimes it goes through generations where it's more than others but these little sayings that people come up with like fix or repair daily or BMW bring my wallet or something like that that's all childish stuff to me
I mean I definitely know what you mean and I don't blame you for saying that stuff I'm just saying that we should be bigger than that we should just ask each other how we fix the problem and move on instead of you know making jokes and stuff
Shouldn’t have to fix these things when they are brand new having these issues. Another issue the dash lights up like Christmas and having to stomp the floor to start the thing. I can go on and on. Ford should’ve done better on their Explorer anyways 🤷🏾♂️. Not knocking what you do, great repair but it’s a manufacturer issue.
Is the diff itself a 34 spline unit?
I'm not sure I would have to have a VIN to look it up and see specifically what your vehicles built with
If you want to send me an email you can always send me an email and I can check through the system
poissorichard.rp@gmail.com
There's no VIN, I'm a hotrodder who uses the 2015 and newer mustang IRS diff in custom applications and was wondering if the rear diff which looks to be of the same family shares any parts at all with the 2020 explorer. Like perhaps the rear cover to fit the mustang housing etc etc. But thank you for replying.
@@InvincibleExtremes i will look into this for you
Wtf does this retaining clip look like? I cant find a single video that actually shows how to get at that thing
It's a clip or ring at the end of the cv axle
Look at the clip at the end of this shaft
www.autozone.com/drivetrain/axle-shaft/p/dorman-axle-shaft-630-444/1069252_0_0
@@FordBossMe its on the spline? isnt the spline internal on the inboard side? how are you suppose to get at that?
2 axles replaces , 3 year old vehicle
videos three years old. 2020 model years can be manufactured in 2019. There were big revisions made in May 2020, strengthened the frame for better crash test rating and fixed issues with the transmission.
And they charge 50 k for these shit boxes. Cars are not made like they use to be
exactly
Why do a video without any steps. You missed the most important part of the the job.
