    Thank you so much Nicole. I think doing projects are as valuable as the certificate itself.

    Excellent review, I am currently working on the Google Cybersecurity course, maybe I tackle this one after I pass the Security+ certification, thanks for sharing.

    which one you like better, this one or the google one?

    • @adziup
      @adziup 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +11

      I am working in it industry already, and I must say that I like google more, because it prepares you for comptia security plus, which is much more in depth and by that - important. And after you completing both you'll get double cert. Microsoft doesn't stack up with anything and you are not being rewarded upon completion, so I don't think this is so important like Google and comptia security.

    would you recommend this over the google cert.?

    I took Google's and am now taking CISCO's SOC Fundamentals and Microsoft's Cybersecurity Specialisation concurrently and I have to say that I somehow like all of them - they all have some particular stuff that I like😅
    But I'm a hobbyist C++ SWE and I love C++, so, I'm still checking whether a full move to Cybersecurity is what I'm going to do

    • @dantejs1938
      @dantejs1938 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Is the CISCO one new? Haven't seen it. I'm also leaning on switching from web development to a soc analyst job

    • @theintjengineer
      @theintjengineer 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@dantejs1938, I got a Coursera Email on July, 20th about MS's Cybersecurity Program and then it goes over "Check other programs", etc. and places a "new" label on Cisco's Program. However, when you take a look at the some of the videos, you can see that some of them are from 2016, others from 2020 - but still, I don't think that changed much of the essence of it. They managed to pass on the main idea. One can then proceed further to learn about newer Tools and Systems on their own, as this is the case with anything else anyways. Even if the program had been 6 months old or so.
      Even IBM has one similar, which is from a couple of years ago, but still relevant.
      I actually recommend Cisco's Program as a follow-up on Google's or MS's Program(btw: Cisco kinda offers the same Path on their Learning Academy - it's called Cybersecurity Operations "Associate"; the next step would be the "Professional", which is also available as a Learning Path on their Academy).
      It helped to consolidate a lot of what I had learned on Google's Program. I just finished course #5 outta 7 and intend to finish the Specialisation.
      MS's Program is well done, and huuuuuge. I completed the first course and then decided to finish Cisco's first and then maybe go back to it, if I haven't got an Internship until then.
      All the best.

    What kind of experience/how many years of CS do you need to get that high 6 figure remote job?

    • @KMFDM_Kid2000
      @KMFDM_Kid2000 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm making $120K/yr with my current job, only like 6 months of experience previously with a temp job. I have 11 years of IT SysAdmin experience prior and only made like $85K after all that time. I went for an online bachelor's degree.
      My certifications are just basic CompTIA ones, A+, Net+, Security+, Server+, Linux+, MCITP: Enterprise Administrator, and an expired CC A. I would say Net+, Sec+, and Linux+ are applicable to what I do now. The MCITP just makes me good with Windows Server, Active Directory and that sort of thing.
      I don't think my 11 years prior factors much other than I know Windows really well as a result. I'm currently a temp hoping I get hired when my contract expires by the end of the year. It's a really great company so far, I'm just used to being super busy as a SysAdmin, so the slower, project based work I'm doing now feels awkward and slow. Plenty of time for TH-cam at least! lol

    Hi Nicole and all! 🙂
    Love your material Nicole!
    Just wanted to ask you or anyone who may also have an answer.
    My goal is Cloud Security Analyst and maybe Engineer down the distant road.
    I have been studying, researching, planning etc etc but just need to know what would be the best cert(s) for Cloud Security Analyst and best entry level job(s).
    I'm very open to any suggestions and recommendations.
    Really hoping anyone can help me.
    Thanks! Appreciate it.
    Mass

      Cybersecurity is an advanced specialization of information technology. Most cyber jobs hire people with cyber experience or IT experience
