You can be louder, more aggressive, but also quieter and slow, which the og triology doesn't have. That aside, chaos theory is still the best game in the franchise, can't top that
Its a stealth series so really you're comment is evidence that a poor game in the series. Saying that it was a solid game, but the gameplay was far too quick and the voices actor was not the right guy to replace Ironside even if it was temporary. It needed the gameplay pace of Chaos Theory!
Id argue Blacklist is the second best game behing Chaos Theory. I would also argue Conviction has the best soundtrack as well as the best NPC dialogue lol
You probably haven't played "Double Agent for Xbox Original" - it's almost as good as Chaos Theory and it's a completely different game than the PC version of Double Agent.
1.Chaos Theory 2. Splinter Cell 3. Double agent Xbox 3. Pandora tomorrow 4. Blacklist 5. Double agent Xbox 360 / Pc / ps3 6. Conviction (was a good game tho)
I'd say Splinter Cell is one of the few video game franchises that doesn't have a bad game. At least as far as mainline games go. Essentials and 3D are just handheld exclusives so I wouldn't count those.
Conviction was an amazing game, the fact that you call it trash is your own opinion compared to millions of others, and I think it’s safe to say you are 100% wrong!!
Blacklist was godly. Idk why the fanbase acts like it wasn't. Yiu never had to go guns blazing, but they did a solid job making it optional. The cleanest Splinter Cell has ever been. If it had Ironside, and Amin on the music, I know you guys would feel different.
It still struggles to feel like a Splinter Cell game, because of the Conviction stuff. The autoaim headshot executions when in the first game you struggled to shoot a lamp in front of you. The superagile climbing, Sam becomes a parkour master despite being older after each game. The very forgiving detection system, enemies struggle to spot you when you are running from cover to cover in front of them, while in the first games if someone can see you directly you are in danger. The cover run system. There was a very early version of it in Pandora Tomorrow, but only if they were close to each other. For longer distances you needer to cautiosly move in open space without allerting anyone. The possibility to see enemies through doors and walls without using gadgets from the first games, the lack of interrogations... The list goes on. It's a very good game, I liked it (much more than Double Agent), but it still isn't a true Splinter Cell game. As some say, it was a step in the right direction after Conviction, just like Assassin's Creed Mirage after the RPG trilogy. And like AC Mirage, Blacklist to me feels like an imitation of the first games made with the tools of the last games. I can tell you, the problem it's not the voice actor, in my language it was the same from the first three games and he still sounded like another character, gone are his jokes and satire.
Blacklist would still be mediocre even with Ironside and Amon Tobin. It has all the tension of wet toilet paper and the subtlety of a jackhammer (and the movement of ice skating). It doesn't do anything particularly well. It's straight up a generic action game with light stealth elements. It's basically a worse, linear Far Cry game rather than a Splinter Cell game.
First three games were great. Double agent on both new and old gen was just good. Conviction and black list weren’t good splinter cell games. Good action games but not good splinter cell games. Pandora tomorrow was my favorite growing up but chaos theory ended up becoming my favorite.
I think conviction was a dope game with a lot of really cool ideas (The interactive interrogation sequences for example) the problem is, the story is framed in such a way that shows you playing as Sam at an angry and vulnerable state. This results in sam throwing a lot of his stealth out the window. Therefore, player stealth feels unwarranted and almost unwelcome at times. Definitely not as bad as you're claiming though. Double Agent (Shanghai) is without a doubt the worst mainline splinter cell entry. Followed by Double Agent (Montreal). Conviction and Blacklist are really cool games but would be better attached to a different IP. Blacklist gave a lot more stealth options and opportunities than conviction but some of the missions take place mid day which def ruins some of the "sneaking in shadows" vibe that the series is known for.
@mohammadjavadmonjezi There's a daylight mission at a train station and another at an abandoned village that are daylight missions. 2 of Grim's missions are daylight as well.
