As for Alpaca yarn, I learned the hard way to make sure it is dehaired. Made a shawl in the past and I decided to test-wear it myself. My clothes were covered with hair!!
Anyone from Australia who is not too sure on buying from Ice Yarns- I had a request for a blanket made with Picasso. I ordered 24 balls and it worked out to be AU$3.62 a ball. Yes, postage is a killer, but the price per ball is cheaper than the au$10-AU$15 per ball on the Big A. Ordered on a Friday and arrived on the following Friday. Cannot complain about that! I am a convert.

I love Ice Yarns and I always look forward to your reviews of them. Thank you very much for them. For any Australians out there wondering about postage. In general, postage to Australia is roughly double what you'll spend on the yarn. If I spend A$150 then postage will be roughly the same...roughly. It is still worth it. There are some amazing bargains to be found on Ice Yarns.

I live in Canada and I can tell you that Canada does charge duties that you have to pay before getting your shipment. The amount is pretty small. For example I have bought shipments that cost between $150-300 (including shipping) and the duty I paid was under $20. The price charged by FedEx to pay the fees at the border have cost more than the duty. This is in Alberta where we don’t pay provincial sales tax so it will be more in other provinces.

I love a good cotton yarn. There are so many scratchy versions out there but when I find a buttery one I stock up. I recently came across some made with Mako cotton from Israel. Had never heard of Mako but it is insanely soft! The softest cotton I’ve ever touched!
I worked for a big box store distribution center. Private label and major brands would ship from same manufacturer all the time, in every category of products. Manufacturers contract to produce many products for many brands. Watching you from my front stoop enjoying the rain and hummingbirds at the feeders.😊

We have a English shepherd, mini poodle, mix…or a shepherdoodle. Our girl is, Stella and she is 2.5 yo. She has two, older fur sisters, both 7 yo. One is a Maltese-Shitzu or Mal-Shih…the other, a rescue, is a wired-haired/Cairn terrier, mix. We love all our fur babies. 🩷🩷🩷

I did hear that Ice is a huge facility and they make yarn for other suppliers and then they have their Ice label. I also get emails from Ice under Paradise Yarns. It's the same.
I have the perfect plans for that silk yarn!! Actually a lot of those would make some very pretty items. Knitting with lace or sock weight doesn't bother me. And I used to do a lot of filet crochet. I did recently do a project where I crocheted items to stiffen and then make into jewelry with thread. But they are so small that your hand doesn't get tired.

I think it would make a gorgeous knitted lace shawl. For me, knitting with different weights is easier than crocheting. I can't use bulky yarn on my hook, it hurts my hands for days, but knitting it is very doable. I've found the same with lighter yarns, although it does take forever and ever 😁 Thanks again, Crystal 💖

got my first ice yarn order, and yes it was soooo fast to florida. 4 days i believe. and i got 32 skeins , it came to 2.87 per skein. i did get the picsso rainbow. had to get those after your projects with them in in.. i am loving the black with that yarn! i am so satisfied with the yarns i got. and the price even with the shiping charge is better than i can buy locally.. you just have to do a large purchase. i should have got more but hubs looks at my stash and just does not understand 🙃❤❤🌹

Several years ago I bought from Ice Yarns, it was very reasonably priced, and the fact I got more balls than I needed still paid off. Roll forward to the last year! This price is for a simple acrylic! Subtotal : €7.46/$8.00 0.4kg Shipping & Handling : €9.29/$9.97 Import Fee (tax) : €4.02/$4.32 Total : €20.77/$22.30 Beyond outrageously priced - tax is one thing but shipping and ‘handling’ ?!! For me they’ve priced themselves out of my bracket. I don’t often need say four or eight balls. I don’t buy for a stash. I buy for what I am going to make!
I loved the purple skein & the red that had the shimmer. When I first started knitting & crocheting, I don't recall the skeins of yarns being rated by 3, 4, & 5 weights. I have never used a yarn with alpaca, wool, silk or merino. Silk merino hand dyed was so thin, I would have to use a super small crochet hook or very small knitting needles.

She not only took the cowl and hat, she also took the hand dyed multi colored cowl I made in the Luminous Brooklyn. yarn. The gold silk yarn would work stranded together with some wool yarn. You can use the silk mixed with other yarn. I'm not a fan of twisted yarn either.

I'd pair that yellow silk with a two-weight cream-colored alpaca for an AMAZING sweater. Breathable and light, but warm.

That silk works up really well when you use 6 strands at a time. take the 6 strands and wind it into a cake ... it twists it a little.
