I cry every time I hear this song. There is so much heart and passion and pure honesty in this song. This song I feel is her masterpiece. I’m 61 now, and my youth was in the Navy. By time I was 30 I was a hard working single mom.
i have socks older than you (literally), and kids almost as old. So you and Miley hardly qualify as "old". But we ALL experience the feelings that end in "when I was young". It doesn't change as you get even older. I'm very impressed with how much Miley has matured, both as a person and an artist.
I love Miley. She has such a raspy voice & does her own thing. She’s certainly not afraid to be herself despite the controversy & haters. This is a great song that makes me love her even more!
After her NOT getting ANY awards when Flowers was nominated at the VMAs *FIVE TIMES* i'm waiting to see IF she'll win the Nobel prize for music ~ for Flowers . ♑️✍️🇳🇴🇦🇺
My sons are in your age range (31/33) and I am thankful they survived those 'used to be young' years! At the same time, I can remember with some nostalgia my own used to be young years. I had fun, really was that simple. Sure as heck would not attempt to do that again at this point in life, but I am glad for the experiences - they do shape who we are in life. Nice post, this is a good one that pretty much all ages hopefully can relate to.
The song is beautiful, and it's interesting that it made you cry but not me. I just reached 70 and thinking back on young is when I could go up the steps without groaning. I love how simple the song is and that I can hear what she's singing. She was wild for awhile. I enjoyed your reaction to this song. I wish for you a happy weekend!
Apparently Miley was able to see mom while filming the "Used to Be Young" video while watching her mom dancing through the camera lens. She was able to see her inside of the camera by using a technology were they were able to livestream with her mom from inside of the camera … Reason why she was son emotional and was barely lip-syncing throw out the video.
I have a son older than you, but I can still relate to this song through a different perspective. Trying to look at the eyes through my grandchild keeps me young (just without the partying). Thanks for sharing!!
I also had to immediately learn it on guitar. I actually went and bought new strings and restrung it. Hadn’t played in years. So relatable to me as a former “wild child” who now has 2 kids and a great career
I got distracted by all Miley’s antics a few years ago, and stopped listening to her. But you are right, she has something special. Thanks for reintroducing me.
I am so excited you are reacting and critiquing Miley's song !! I do like her more mature raspy voice and her lower register. I think for most performing artists if you can make it through your studying years without giving up or giving into substance abuse then you can make it in the real world of your craft. And it seems like those years really make you grow up fast and be a more responsible and focused artist. You seem to gain a real idea of the direction you want to go in and find your niche where you belong. I love her songs now, but I also liked some of her earlier songs too. It's just that you can tell she went through the stages that most artists go through as they are learning and maturing. I also enjoyed most of my thirties but I had a rough time in the early thirties as I had just lost my mom who was 49, my cousin at 18, my grandfather, and two great aunts within 6 months. God thing I had a good support team. Anyway, Thank you Peter and I hope to hear more reactions on Miley's songs, and God bless you in your music journey as well.
Yes, do a cover please. I couldn't wait to turn 30. But then again I felt so often stupid in my 20s and rarely thought I was taken seriously. On my 30th birthday I felt like I could finally breath and feel like an adult. But I'd give anything for the energy I had in my 20s to match a sense of adventure that never died.
I'm coming up on 30 and this song really hits hard. You should listen to her sister Noah! She has a really similar voice, but lower. She's got a song called July, and then the two of them do a song called I Got So High That I Saw Jesus (😂😂😂) and hearing their voices together is an experience.
Just happened upon your channel. Wanna say just how much I enjoy Miley's voice & haopen to share the same experience that it had been quite some time since I last listened to her & one day i caught her in that same Metallica song you mentioned. Being the music lover I've always been & the fact I was so impressed with how great she sounded at rock, I took a deeper dive and caught her with a huge fav. Iconic female rock voice Stevie Nicks & even Joan Jett and my very thought was man Miley sounds phenomenal in her rock bag . It's rare I've found a female rock voice I really feel, as I love feeling my music in how the voice emotes many emotions within, but I grew to truly find so much more to appreciate Miley and all her wonderful attributes &skills plus she's from Tennessee like me which makes me adore her even more and her godmother Dolly I've admired since the day I first saw her in my childhood a few decades ago. Lol which reminds me of my age oh no lol jk but both wonderful southern ladies I find much respect and admiration for & love the hell of hearing this songbird sing. Miley rocks 🧡🤘🔥
My husband sometimes misses the old days. So we will go out and meet friends at a bar. Forty minutes into it after hearing the same stories from the past my husband will say sorry guys Kelly needs to get home. Lol.😂😂
I love Miley. And hitting 30 hit me harder than any other year ( although as I see 60 on the horizon that may change). I would really love to see you watch LP Lost On You Live from Harvard and Stone. Her mother sang opera and could hear the vibrato in her voice at a very young age and made sure that the training was going to help her with controlling her voice.
I'm glad you mentioned the bridge & how her lip syncing was off, because nobody else I've seen, even mentioned it, even though it's very obvious. So at first I was like 'am I having a stroke?' 😂
love how you shared about your life and how this song connected to you... wasn't gonna initially subscribe because I just watched because I'm a miley fan but what you said really resonated with me so I just subscribed.
This song is so catchy and mature, lot of strong decisions, they went right af. Please do a cover with Bass gang or someone featured. But keep in mind this song is not show of, it's emotion prime
I've just gotten used to the idea of getting older! Anyway, nice enough song, I personally wouldn't have gone up every time on 'Young', but that's a creative choice. I suppose it's nice to see a pop star actually reflect on their life and come to terms with the idea that constant partying isn't healthy and that it might actually be time to search out for those healthy relationships, so that's refreshing. I'll also say, that whilst I don't particularly like her recorded music, I have seen clips of Miley's live show, and she really does put the effort in there and delivers a proper rock show, so props to her there. She also helps me argue that the vast majority of pop stars are actually rockers and metal heads and only make pop music because that's where the money is! :-P Anyway, enough of my rambling. It was a nice reaction, I'm definitely enjoying your presentation as I only found your channel yesterday with your reaction to Jinjer. And don't panic, 30 is the new 20 after all! 😛
I understand blurring the video. But I suspect you could throw in some still frames. Possibly even just blur the video when it's playing. Or just throw in a pic when you talk about anything visual.
Do you know who Tim Riley is? He’s one of the best bass singers of all time. He’s not well known because he sings gospel. But I think you would really enjoy his bass singing. He’s a living legend
Regarding the fact that her lips don't match the sound during the woah: İ think it's because the video was recorded with the demo version and then they changed a little bit of the song later. There are two demos leaked: one doesn't contain the woahs, but it's only instrumental, while the other demo has oh, instead of woah. İf it's really this case, that makes sense, since her lips do OH instead of WHOA, even though they should have recorded it again ahahahahah but we all know Miley doesn't pay too much attention or money in the realization of music videos (except for some cases). Or it's just because her emotions really came out during the filming of this video and it couldn't have been better

I'm just wondering why she doesn't get noticed at the Awards night, her songs are good, SHE DESERVE TO HAVE AWARDS NEXT, SHE IS THE BEST❤❤❤

2! Grammys!!

miley wasn't doing a wrecking bawl on this song! more like brilliantly sung but that's because she she is still young!!
Apparently Miley was able to see mom while filming the "Used to Be Young" video while watching her mom dancing through the camera lens. 30 was a watershed year for me. I started seeing myself differently and no longer a “kid”. My son is now 30 and I see the same shift.
Thank you for such an awesome reaction!!! Love Miley's voice too.

She is an incredible artist with an amazing voice that talk to you. Love the song and the simplicity of the way the video was.

I love a song that makes you take inventory of life. Lady A's American Honey does that for me.
Heartfelt reaction to an iconic voice! Thank you!
Like your reaction. you have a nice voice.
She got this video out around the day I turned 40!! It hit quite hard... 🥲
Love her... love your videos...
Thanks for sharing!
Miley performed at the grammys! Hope you react to that too
Thank you for reaction, love Miley
I don't really listen to Miley but after this reaction, will check out the video.

Well you made me laugh at the end I am 70, lol Actually her voice reminds me a lot of her Godmother Dolly Parton.
My husband sometimes misses the old days. So we will go out and meet friends at a bar. Forty minutes into it after hearing the same stories from the past my husband will say sorry guys Kelly needs to get home. Lol.😂😂
Some of the rifts are from her Disney show as a Disney actress where she started.
I haven't been 30 for longer years than you have been. And I definitely miss being young and immortal but it has made me who I am.
great song and awesome coverage - THanks!
I loved this. She is crazy good.
I love Miley. And hitting 30 hit me harder than any other year ( although as I see 60 on the horizon that may change).

Thanks. I think this applies to just about everyone as the years roll buy

I'll be keeping my eyes open for your cover 😊
I really like this song. You're awesome.
The most likely explanation for the not perfect lipsync, is that the video was only one take, one shot, so not possible to edit it after.
Finally caught you on live awesomeness. I never get notifications 😒
I understand blurring the video. But I suspect you could throw in some still frames. Possibly even just blur the video when it's playing. Or just throw in a pic when you talk about anything visual.
He didn't have to blur it at all. What he is doing is a permissible use of the original and isn't a copyright violation.
Do you know who Tim Riley is? He’s one of the best bass singers of all time. He’s not well known because he sings gospel. But I think you would really enjoy his bass singing. He’s a living legend
30 is the new 20, you guys are so young;) enjoy it..;)
You should check out Never Enough from the actual singer Loren. She did it on Britian has talent
I love your reactions ❤
Enjoyed the reaction

The video was recorded in one shot and she was getting truly emotional which is why some of the lip syncing is off.
Would it be possible to make analysis of Ignazio Boschetto and his singing. He is a member of Il Volo. Thanks :)
Man, can you react to Epica please? Their lead singer Simone Simons has a wonderful soprano!
EPICA - Unleashed (Live at the AFAS Live)
Loved the reaction!! Do a cocer
Can you make a Taylor Swift reaction video?
While I enjoy the song and her performance, this song just does not resonate with me at all. I think I just led a very different 'young adult' life.
