People really don't understand what guts you need to get on a ramp with a bmx. And how many years and broken bones it took to be the best. He really is the master of the sport and always will be.
I looked up to that man growing up. I wanted to be just like him...I just didn't have the coordination. I'm clumsy. I played his games and watched him hurt his head live, then he started to wear helmets. You're so lucky to be friends with him
Weird that someone as popular as Matt was and the legend he is doesn’t have tons of podcast trying to interview him. Searching for interviews only bring up this and it’s 3 yrs old and only has 8k views.
ALWAYS AT THE END OF A BMX SESSION COMES THE IDEA 💡 OF LITERALLY CUTTING YOURSELF SHORT AS MATT HOFFMAN SHOWS HIS LEFT LEG ALL JAGGED RIPPED UP & BRUISED.. GEEZ MATT STOP FORGETTING TO DO THIS: SAFETY 1ST. THEN DO THE PERFORMANCE.. SO AT THE END.. YA GET TO ENJOY THE 👏 APPLAUSE OH WAIT NOBODY AROUND ON THAT ONE.. 😆 🤣 I WOULD HAVE PROBABLY DONE THE SAME.. OOPS 😬 BUT IT COMES WITH THE SPORTS ENTERTAINMENT TERRITORY OF THE WORLDWIDE KICK ASS SPORT OF BMX ✌️🇨🇦😇🇺🇸🤙
Definitely disagree with your opening..Dave Mirra was the best BMX rider at that time.. Matt Hoffman is no where near the best BMX rider of all time.. Ryan Williams now is the goat.. he has pushed the sport so far. I understand he can’t do certain things a ton of other riders can do, but he can do a lot of things that no one else can do in the world.
If it wasn't for matt bmx wouldn't be where it is today he one was the first bmx rider to ride everything the first to double peg grind a hand rail. Personally I think Matt was a more technical vert rider that Dave but Dave had better style and smother lines and was a better park and all round rider than Matt. Matt landed a no handed 900 mid run in xgames 2002 on a very heavy ass bmx a lot of top vert pros would struggle to Pull that off using the same equipment. To me there are both legends of bmx and their riding is timeless.
If Matt had Resi ramps and foam pits when he was young he would have had much less downtime to injury and would have pushed the sport well beyond where it is today.
Crazy how time flies I remember watching him on tv in the late 90's to early 2000's.

When Matt went brakeless on vert, that only street riders really do, was batpoop crazy. I can't believe he's still on it. LEGEND.
