I'm an American. My lifestyle consists of buying food, having plentiful drinking water, electricity, heat and air conditioning on demand. Screen time, gaming, and being relatively sedentary. The largest problems I face, and the majority of the people living in the United States face, are considered slight inconveniences to people living this type of lifestyle. In all honesty, this kind of simplicity in life is something I envy. From the constant bombardment of modern day politics, to people hating each other just for existing, and everything in between, watching this makes me jealous of the Yakut lifestyle. Simple, Wholesome, Surrounded by friends and family, and everyone gets along. It's places in the world like this that restore my faith in humanity. I come from a country that's "Devoted to freedom", when in reality, what we see here is true freedom. Being self reliant, purpose driven, hard working and family focused are values we have lost in the modern world. Arian and his family truly know what it means to live free and prosper. God bless all of you, and thank you to Kiun for delivering such an eye opening docu-series into the daily lives of these people, who have so much more in life than just material things. God bless you, Yakut residents.
    Love from the United States.

It's so cool to see how things are different yet the same across the world. My uncle lived out in the country in the US. Like 60 minutes to the nearest fully stocked grocery store country. For the longest time he used a wood burning furnace. Every spring and autumn I'd go and help him fell and chop wood to use in the winter. I grew strong using wedges and a sledge to split apart massive hardwood tree bases. We'd break for a hot lunch with a cold drink and then get back to it until the sun started to set. He had a hydraulic log splitter at one point but it broke down and would cost waaay too much to repair it. So everything stayed manual.

Just to say for those who aren't aware: 5:10.
That is pretty much perfect technique for splitting logs with a two handed axe. Obviously he'd get on better with a smaller log, or a bigger axe (which will have to wait until he grows up) but he's nailed the skill. Clearly extremely well taught!

Well he has to learn how to actually survive. Kids in developed countries don't need to and learn what he learns as a recreational skill. The good thing about computers is that they can eventually learn skills that they might not be able to learn from anyone else. I always find it funny when people are bothered by anime of all things hahaha. And it's up to the parents to teach their kids soooo

My family lives on a farm in Missouri, USA. We harvest wood all summer and fall, though our house has electric heating, cutting trees saves us alot of money. Our woods are mostly oaks which are very very water dense, it takes me about 10 swings to cut through them when wet. In every country in the world there's a family just like Arian's cutting wood together, it's one of the oldest family traditions in the world.

In the Himalayas the use dried yak and goat faeces on their fires. I know there’s a lot of farming in the area of Yakutia do they ever burn animal faeces? I like how they use trees that are easily sustainable like firs which can regenerate in a few years, which actually helps the forests.

Fascinating. Such Hardy yet happy people. I think the actual ‘summer’ is only like 7-8 weeks before it’s fall again and marching towards that long winter. A friend of our family who works in the natural gas field says that once all the snow is gone there’s a period of about a month where the swarms of mosquitoes are like nothing we’ve ever seen. They apparently lay eggs just below the ground and they hatch once snow is gone

A aby malo drevo svoju výhrevnosť. Veľmi milé bolo, že tam bola celá rodina. Radosť pozerať. Vidno , že cez zimu spadne veľa stromov i od vetra. sekera v Jakutsku je troch tupšia ako naša, širšia a dosť ťažká. No išlo im to výborne. U nás sa drevo v lese reže na dĺžku 1 metra. To ale i záleží aké auto to potom vezie ku domu. Slovensko je tiež krajina kde sa stále chystalo drevo na zimu. Zmenili to až dodávky plynu z Ruska.

Great video, thank you! I am a midwife from Canada and I am very interested in birth, pregnancy, postpartum and breastfeeding traditions around the world.
It would be great if you could make a video about that. For example: what are your traditions regarding pregnancy? Do you announce the pregnancy? Do you have any beliefs on what to do and not to do in pregnancy, birth, postpartum?
Do you have an option of a home birth in villages? How can people get to the hospital in a Winter storm? Do partners attend the birth? How long is the average breastfeeding period? Is prolonged breastfeeding acceptable (beyond 2 years old)?
    Thank you!

I wish you wouldn't put -71C on the title of every episode. A quick wikipedia search reveals that average temps can dip below -35C. −64.4 °C was a maximum record set, not what you live through daily.
It takes the heartwarming content you have and skews it with skepticism. Why not just be honest? It is not -71C all the time, every day, or even... ever.

The inhabitants of this area, are very happy as compared to others around the world. Because they live together, work together, help each other and respect nature. I think you will not find all of the things in one frame in today's world.
Arian is being raised as their parents, actually they have kept their tradition which is another important thing in this modern world. Overall, they can survive here because of the above mentioned things. If I hold enough money, I will go to yakutia once in my life.

Love the video! Reminds me of growing up with my family. Every year we would chop wood and stack it for the winter. It was very tiresome, but it was a good/efficient way to stay warm all winter! We would often have soup and sandwich for lunch. So nice to see the entire family working together! Can’t wait for the next video😁
