I've always loved the stereotypes in Punch-Out - there's something about the way they handle it where it all feels so light-hearted and not in the slightest hateful. It's just fun and celebrating how different our cultures are. Okay maybe Vodka Drunkenski is a little bit on the nose, but still.
@@Fobb Absolutely, that and the remix of the classic Punch-Out theme everyone got in a musical style tied to their respective homelands are the best two new ideas in regards to highlighting cultural backgrounds of each fighter.
As much as like Hondo in this game, Don is just transisted way too well from his last debut. Yet the Next level games added enough extra to get you caring for this guy & the events he's participating. Precioso.
@@Fobb StrawHatNo pointed out that he looks like Nicholas Cage. Also, 1:31: The woman in the Super Macho Man example (who is clearly visually different from Carmen, based on the hairstyle), I’m guessing you’re saying Carmen and Don handled his loss a lot better than Macho’s.
Ngl, I don’t think the girl with Super Macho Man is Carmen, especially since SMM is constantly seen around many different types of women. Both their hairs are blonde but they’re different shades of blonde, I think the one with SMM is a different girl. But Carmen probably still left Don after his loss.
i just love don flamenco and his fighting style, not only does he look kinda hot (i'm sorry, but it's fucking true) but the way he fights is just so unique compared to the others.
I always read Doc's toupee line as him joking with Mac that he suspects Don's bald. Maybe because Doc knows Don is super vain, he's trying to find some flaw in his perfect appearance so Mac can expose it to enrage him... It's kinda funny, when you put it like that it feels like Mac and Doc are now the ones using cheap tricks because their opponent outsmarted them; when normally it's the roles are swapped with it usually being the opponent who's trying to find some underhanded tactic to use against Mac.
i dont think that was carmen who was with super macho man, that part was speculation but i rather have it the wholesome way where carmen is just with don
Pretty sure the thing about chocolate being doc's favorite flower is an ongoing joke about how doc jokes that chocolate is his favorite thing relative to the opponents quirks.
Lets just say in Title Defense Mode… Don swapped out “Running of the Bulls” ❤️ for Linkin Park’s entire discography of “Hybrid Theory” to prep for his inevitable runback with Mac. 🖤
Those two women do look similar, but I'm assuming they're different people. The eyes and hair are ever so slightly different enough for me to firmly state such and then assuredly denounce anyone who says otherwise :p Still, Don Flamenco is another great character in a cast of great characters. Much like with Von Kaiser, he doesn't need any new tricks or schemes to get his revenge on Mac - he just needs to work harder. Unlike Kaiser who needed to remember his former glory, Don instead sets the theatrics aside and puts even more effort into his training. He was skilled before, but it wasn't enough for Mac so he puts in the work and stays true to his fighting style. It amplifies his strengths, but his weaknesses (the infinite and losing his toupee) still persist. This was another great video from you, it's always a good time when the love that this game got gets more attention.
Thanks so much, I really appreciate the support! It's very possible that they are completely different women hahaha, but the resemblance is there The Kaiser and Flamenco TD fights are both masterfully done, they both improved a ton over their original matches through grit and determination alone 💪
Fabulous editing, and an interesting topic! I’m still a novice at punch out, so i really enjoy your videos covering the games! As per usual incredible commentary too. A+

Actually "Carmen mi amor" , "Uuuuy mi Carmen" & "Por Carmen" is a referenece to Bizet's Carmen. An opera from 1875 that takes place in Seville, Spain. The piece that sounds during Flamenco's intro is The overture: th-cam.com/video/pmuFOuh3QHs/w-d-xo.htmlsi=7mf3PObaW0-uuBFP
