Surely there's a control code for switching the cursor off? There is on the vt100, but maybe that was an advantage that DEC had over Lear Siegler at that time? That was my favorite terminal back in the early 80s.
@Kazuo1G I was joking ;) I don't think the refresh rate would be hundreds of times per second (then even the camera would not be able to capture it like it captures regular TV's and CRT monitors at 50-60Hz), though :)
How did you get yours to refresh so quickly? My ADM-3A is much slower, if I try to play something like the blinkenlights starwars the frames scroll up the screen. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
If my memory serves me correctly, the dipswitches inside set the baud rate, which would affect how fast the data streams. I don't remember what our switches are set to, but they are definitely set to the max baud. Also I remember modifying the source file of the star wars ansi stream and replacing ansi escape codes with lear friendly ones, such as clear screen (instead of doing things like 100 spaces to clear the screen), so you must have both issues.
@@Baltimorehackerspace Hello. can you share the code you used? I have my ADM-3 terminal working and my Ardruino getting the data from the telnet site but need to convert the "[H" at the end of each frame to something that the ADM-3 can recognize as a clear screen. Help Please.
thats the coolest pc design ive seen why cant they make new pcs look like this!?
Because unfortunately a new design like that would not sell well
Was fun trying animation on these things with text
JUST MAGICAL at the time

@technoshamanarchist Actually, those falling leaves is the single cursor refreshing the screen at hundreds of times per second.

Why are there flying leaves?

Is it possible that the internal switches are set wrong? I acquired the terminal from a university and they may have changed the settings.
