- Restoring a mostly-functional 1981 Lear Siegler ADM-5 dumb terminal. The main issues here were noisy/non-functional picture, and stiff, sticking keys, both of which are taken care of in this video.
OK, now YOU have taken vintage modem-ing to a WHOLE new level here! Forgotten Machines SALUTES what you have done here! I'd love to see MORE videos like this, and even a display like this at a VCF somewhere...would that ever happen?

I'd love to go to a VCF, but I haven't been able to make the time yet. Midwest is closest, but it's still a ten-ish hour drive. I will definitely bring the Livermore modem and my dial-up servers if I do though!

still waiting for my beloved adm-2 to appear on youtube :( lost it long ago in storage (moved, lost the unit). it appeared on ebay a few years ago, very same one as i recognized the blemish on it. almost surreal to see it again. i didn't buy it, didn't have the cash at the time (was $200) not a bad price for a non-functional unit with missing keyboard. hopefully one day someone brings it to light. for now, this adm-5 restoration is great.

Hey, I'm restoring an ADM-31 and it has the same CRT and CRT driver board as your ADM-5. I can't for the life of me work out how the CRT board sits in the casing, could you perhaps do a video or send some pictures? I have an email address listed on my about section - thanks!

My guess is that your unit is missing this odd metal bracket that holds the board down, but check the photos to be sure. It's kind of an odd mount.
