That was a great story! I'm 63 years old and have loved Corvettes all my life, but I never owned one until recently. I now own a 2019 Arctic White C7 M7 2LT Corvette and it puts a smile on my face every time that I drive it.
When I was 25 I bought my dream car. A blue stingray. I still have it. I’ve owned it for 25 years. It gave me grief plenty of times, but these are special cars unlike others. Each year is a little different to those in the know. A car like this is a Time Machine. A celebration of the past and uniquely American. I don’t care much about numbers matching, but I do enjoy seeing period correct. The 76 steering wheel is a great touch and the side pipes, while “incorrect” are exactly what guys did in the 70’s. Long live white letter tires!
I agree with you! I don't think it looks right without them! I love my sidepipes also! Sort of liked the "modified" for the time period look! I have debated restoring it to factory condition but I don't think it would be as much fun lol!
60's Vettes are around $60K + over here as well! The late C3's haven't quite taken off yet but i'm sure in time they will just like everything else lol!
Dang you went through so much effort to get it congrats man! I respect you for the amount of dedication you had to get it! And that was awesome for your parents to top it off and help!
I got my first vette when I was 18 - 69 350 350 4 spd in Daytona Yellow. I have 2 1971 LT1's now... a 3 star survivor with 45k miles original paint interior never restored TOP FLIGHT only missed 75 points out of 4500. AND the only BLACK LT1 built.
Congratulations on making your dream. It was a dream of mine as well. My wife and I got married in 1979,, and I told her some day I will own a corvette.. Well life happens priorities change you do what you do. Well thinking that dream was long gone, at age 69, an opportunity to get a 79 corvette came along. It was my grand daughter's boy friend who got the car and circumstance happened that he wanted to sell. So long story short I am in the process of restoring this car. I've slowed down, but I guess living my dream!!!!
Beautiful C3! I had a 71 convertible w/ a BB hood and I sold it when I was 19 >:( . When I sat in the C7 and saw the new hood style, I traded in my Grand Sport C6 on one immediately! I have a 2019 C7 Stingray. Went to the dealer to trade for a new C8 and I just couldn't do it, so I I just had it Procharged and I love it. Would NOT trade for a Lambo or McLaren or a C8, wouldn't mind racing them though.
I looked at the C8 when I was buying my C7 but I couldn't justify the price difference with similar performance! I am like you I would rather spend the money on building a fast C7 over buying a base C8!
