I love it when your husband sneaks in as happy as a little kid. Nothing brings magic like great food cooked for you by someone who loves you. I am 75 and teaching my granddaughter to cook. I can imagine 40 years from now, her cooking for her family and crying because she remembers the time we spent in the kitchen.

And I just realized that you were the only daughter, with 4 brothers? You clearly had a special bond with your mom - it comes through in many episodes. Your mom touched her whole family with her cooking and brought everyone joy - that's why your brother and your cousin are hounding you for that recipe! They have fond memories of her as well. What a lovely episode.

I knew immediately what was wrong and I was waiting patiently for Robert to get it. God bless him for understanding your pain without you saying a word. I feel almost certain that you had at least 136,000 people crying WITH you. I lost my mom in 2015. Her death wasn't sudden but the pain was sharp. I miss her every day. God bless you, Ms. Donna. Love and prayers for you and your family. 🙏❤

Yes! I felt that as well and I immediately reached for a tissue. Mrs. Donna is heaven sent. I'm so afraid of baking and she makes it look so easy and enjoyable.... Prior to my mother passing she was a chef and I stayed in the kitchen learning from her. I just can't bake a lick from scratch. This is about to change. To God be the glory....Thank you Mrs. Donna.

My mum made the best biscuits. She liked the cruchy outer side so she would choose who got her fluffy insides. I loved her poor man's gravy spread all over the biscuits. I can eat the biscuits with butter and honey too.

This video brought to mind memories of my mom, a great southern cook, as well. She has been gone for almost 20 years and I still miss her and find myself wishing I could call her and tell her about my day...be blessed, Donna because you are a blessing to all who know you!

I tried your recipe for biscuits. I didn't think I could make them. I have tried numerous biscuits over the years with no luck.
I tried your recipe and IT WAS AMAZING!!! I was skeptical about using my hands, but I did it anyway and it wasn't bad at all, everything mixed great. I want you to know my BISCUITS WERE AWESOME. FLUFFY, GOLDEN and simply DELICIOUS. After so many years I finally can make a fantastic biscuit.
I put Butter, Apple Jelly, Grape Jam, Honey, Apple Butter on my table and my family had a feast. THANK YOU!!!!

I have watched enough of your content over the past several months to know that you make your mother proud every minute of every day.
I used to stay with my mother in the kitchen as a child and watch her and she taught me several tricks on how to handle working in the kitchen.
My mom truly was my inspiration for me getting into baking and even though I am a network systems administrator who is about to do a psychology course I have been baking on the side for the past 20 years to earn extra income as well as share the gift she passed on to me with others.
God bless you and your lovely family and thank you so much for sharing your beautiful soul with the rest of us.
I will definitely be making your mother's biscuits for my family.
I myself enjoy baking and my wife has requested my tweaked chocolate cake for this Christmas dinner. It is such a joy to be able to bring smiles through the gift of cooking and baking.

The Bible buts a lot of importance of food in different scriptures. It may be to show respect, and in some cases ritual. My husbands mom showed her love with food. It was hard for her to tell how much she loved us, but her food did! You do the same for your family, too. God bless you and your hubby!

Hi, I just discovered your channel today. I am absolutely loving it. I was born and raised in San Diego, California, but both of my parents are from Mississippi and I was raised on good old southern cooking. This channel makes me feel closer to the tastes and traditions came to as a child. I watched your cornbread recipe this evening and made that to go along with our jambalaya this evening. I plan on making the biscuits tomorrow night. This past weekend I bought myself my very first cast-iron skillet. My Mamaw and mama use them, but I have never owned one. Here I am 64 and learning to use a cast iron skillet. Thank you for allowing us into your kitchen. Your husband is absolutely adorable and I can’t wait to learn new recipes from you. God bless.

I lost my mother 3 years ago and I still cry. Words just cant express how much I miss her. She became ill and one week later we where told she had 4 - 6 weeks to live. From that time on my family and I literally moved in with her. Everyone had to continue to work (someone was always with her) but at supper time we all came together to eat and spend time with her. I will always treasure those moments as the most precious thing we did. So my 9 year old grandson and i decided we would cry any time we want to. Because she was worth all the tears we shed. So cry anytime you want to and realize how blessed you where to have the special mother that you had. She is worthy of all your tears.

Heeyy Mrs. Donna!! I wanted to say that your biscuits look beautiful, and your story behind it was very warm and touching. It reminds me of when I lost my mom. It was right after Thanksgiving, and no one in the family knew how to cook but her and me. In the midst of the loss I was feeling, I had to figure out how she made everything, because it was almost Christmas, and she just started letting me in the kitchen (even though I had been to culinary school). Anywho, I ended up cooking the entire Christmas dinner myself. It wasn't great, but at least we had left over greens that she made. I eventually got better, and taught my siblings how to make things so we could all share the load. But it wasn't until last year when I saw your cornbread recipe that made my dressing just like my mamas. If you've made it this far, thank you for listening to my very long story, and thank you for being you and being a light!

So, I was looking for this young lady's credit page. Found it and then came across your page cause one of the first foods I learned how to make was my grandmother's biscuits and her pound cake made from scratch. Her biscuits she didn't measure she just knew. But as I got older I wanted to measure to pass it on. I smiled thru the video cause my family is from New Bern, Pollocksville, just everywhere NC, and to see your husband bust out the MOLASSES...I clicked as a new subscriber...lol. It stays in my house, my mom and my grandmothers, and when we moved upstate NY, they were more into Alaga syrup and we had no understanding at 14yrs old. I read the comments before "it" happened and I was already tearing up but I wasn't ready as to how it hit. It was a good cry for me cause I miss my grandmother so much and I live so far from my mom to taste hers. However, I plan to make some this week. I just hope I know when to stop eating them cause I didn't back then😂 Thanks so much for reminding others to wash...dem ...hands. I'm teaching my last son (21 yrs old) and his friend how to cook so they are not hungrily waiting for me to come home or just when they have their own place they can eat and eat well-seasoned food.

I FELT ALL OF THAT - my mom passed right at the beginning of covid, before they knew what the covid was. After fighting with cancer for the previous 3 years and her not being ready to go... yeah lady. Whooooo I felt that. I was crying with you. As you soon as you said your mama's biscuits, I was like how long had it been since you had lost your mom and then you started crying. Oh I felt it ma'am. Thank you for your realness on this channel and your instructions.

I laughed and cried at the same time. My great nephew who's two looked at me like "you already?!". Boy! The way Robert tried to clean up that mess I died! His first facial expression was to die for. The story about your mom was touching.

Watching your video made me emotional as well. My mother also died suddenly in 1977 when I was a teenager. She was a great cook too, but I didn't really get a chance to learn much from her. I mostly did her prep work. So, I search the web looking for recipes that look like my mom's cooking. It makes me feel proud too when I prepare something that tastes like she made it. Thank you for sharing 🙂

So glad I ran across this. My mother had to make these biscuits everyday with dinner for my dad or there was hell to pay. And so funny.....when your hubby walked in with the molasses.......sent me back to the 60's. Thats exactly the kind we had to have on the table. Now my mouth is watering. I'm 70 and never make these biscuits. Why? I have no idea. I guess trying to keep my weight down. I should make a batch and freeze them, so when I want one I can just pop it in the oven to warm it up. Thanks for sparking the memories for me my dear. Much appreciated!!!!!

We were raised on these as well. My Grandmother used Blue Ribbon Pure Cane Syrup in a can, but that company went out of business so now I use Grandmas too but that she used was the bomb. I don't know anybody but now you that uses black strap on their biscuits! Grand Dad heated the syrup and poured it over a chunk of butter, mixed it up and then on the biscuit. WOW Thanks
