MG sites in needed positions. Amazing number of troops needed to man them all I would imagine. Great spotting from EE who is growing taller each episode. Keep feeding him!
i can understand why some of these old bunkers and gun positions have been buried, WWII was so horrific in so many ways, people want to forget. but we should never forget or doomed to repeat history...
Some great bunkers there and was terrific that you came across some bunkers that you didn't even know about! Will be looking forward to part 3 and seeing what else you came across.
The gun turrets had it going on ! They were very good at protecting a place! Way to go EE , finding the lost turret! Great job ! The place would have been fun to walk it myself . Thank you , HH and EE I have my Sunday afternoon walk in ! Enjoyed it much . Be careful! Be safe ! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Very well defended airfield, couldn't imagine having to attack this location from the ground. The ammunition bunker must have held munitions for the aircraft also. Thank you and EE for the tour and can't wait for the next part of this location. Take care and stay safe out there my friends.
Yes there are even more of the " defensive system " around there but fully buried today. Yes they stored bombs and ammo for the aircraft there. Thanks for your great support Allen and we send a greeting your way :)
EE living up to his name once again. Very well spotted young man. What a wonderful site, with so much undisturbed, and very little spray paint. That airfield seems to have been important to the German war machine as it is very well defended. I wonder if we will be lucky and get episode 3 from here? Thank you both for sharing with us. Stay safe and well my friends
Yes this was a very important place for them and we loved to find these positions. There are even more that are fully buried and we could not find them. Thanks form us and greetings.
Great to see this history, amazing to see the original ring for the MG’s. Nature has claimed back the airfield but what you showed was amazing for history buffs like me. Thank you 👍🍻
Must have been quite an installation with all the trees cleared to form an operational airfield. Doesn't look like the place is visited that often, I guess the bunkers are quite easy to miss amongst all of the trees. Great video again HH and EE.
It actually looked nothing much during the days and that is what i think the Germans liked about it. Just a couple of fields where they could have their aircraft and hide away :) Great explore and thanks for your great support :)
You definitely walk some miles on these ww2 adventures and eagle eyes the amount of hours he's racked up over the days and years doing this amazing history project's is phenomenal
Finding all those MG areas was outstanding! Indeed they wanted to protect that air field lol. Can't imagine how it must have felt out there on guard duty. Love the area . Curious if any battles were ever fought around that airfield???? Thanks for an outstanding job on showing us; and EE spotting that one, good job! Looking ahead/forward to the next. Hope you are well. Stay safe and smile
Thanks. Here is a tiny bit towards fuel. The underground ammo storage bunker you found EE was very interesting. I wonder too how come they didn't build a 3rd room HH. The sand bit mystifies me a bit, as if they wanted to totally forget about the buildings, they would fill them in right to the top I would think. I can only imaagine the amount of steps you two put in, during your excurions. Hard work indeed. Yes, some might forget that most of the German soldiers were like any other human being with dreams, families, loved ones, felt pain, and fear. We must never judge soldiers on any side of a war as either all evil or all good. Life/human beings are not that simplistic. You discovering the 58C Tobruk Turret was an incredible and unexpected find. Also, found that historical site very interesting and looking forward to P2. Thank you HH and EE. Stay safe and keep smiling.
yes we do a few steps on our explores that is for sure. This place is something else and we loved to share it. Thanks for your kind support and we send a warm summer greeting your way :)
😊Another interesting WW2 German Atlantic Wall defensive set-up. EE of course found an opening for an interesting Tobruk MG mount. Thanks for taking us inside HH & EE.
So happy to see these defense positions before they disappear into the landscape. A few more years of vegetation growth and most of them will be gone. It was unusual to see the bunker with the two rooms separated by a large wall. Wonder if it was a protective measure to protect one side if the other side exploded? So nice that Eagle Eyes used his super powers to find the machine gun position you didn’t know was there. No telling what is out there that you may have walked past. Am really enjoying this massive road trip.
yes not much time left before they are fully gone. The bunker could have such a feature yes. EE is really doing well out there and loved that. Thanks Anthony.
Love it when EE lives up to his name. Most of us would struggle to find those Tobruks in that forest but he just has "the eye" for it. Most of those bunkers have been buried really well, so finding them all would definitely be a challenge. I think for those we have seen, we have to thank Mother Nature's rains, over the last 70 plus years, for washing the soils into them, and revealing the entrances. I am glad that they were buried, rather than blown up, as it preserved them for our HH Team to find, and to share with us, and has also saved the for future "HH Teams" to ponder on. As always, thank you both for all you efforts to bring these amazing places to us. Stay Safe!
Yes EE do have a special sense for this and he really do find stuff that i cant even see and very glad for that. Agree , better that they are buried then removed or blown up as they can then always be refound and studied. Thanks and greetings from us.
Nice place, great defenses. It doesn't look it now, but it would have been wide open, great for viewing. That so many of the MG positions are still there even though filled up, is remarkable. Well done my friend, as always EE is talking to the ground dwellers to find the positions. This would be interesting to map out and compare to other large locations. Another well done video my friend. The 2 of you stay safe and well out there.
Yes there are even more positions around there but they are fully buried. EE loved this place and so did i. Thanks so much for the great support and greetings from us.
Everytime I watch you go into one of these elaborate bunkers, I think to myself ,"How did the Germans move so much concrete into these remote locations! Concrete requires a mixer and the sheer size of some of these dug outs meant they needed quite a large amount of equipment to do this including the machinery r man power to dig out such a large structure!
We agree Larry , they really did build a lot there and even more that is fully buried that we cant see. Important it was and who knows what more is around there. Have a great summer and keep smiling :)
@@WW2HistoryHunter And a good afternoon my friend, intensive fields of fire ,then the anti aircraft guns, FLAK City, my uncle Everett Lloyd was a B17 tail gunner, shot down over the 2d swienfurt run, 305th bomb group
This is an absolutely brilliant location, it just keeps on giving. Well done for managing to get into those partially filled bunkers 👏. Well done to EE a well for shooting all those extra features. He certainly lives upto his name. Thanks for sharing this excellent video 👍
How awesome that EE could spot tobruks that you didn't know from the maps! He misses nothing andis a great spotter. Awesome that you couldwalk through the underground munitions bunker. The partial blocking resulted in zero graffiti. Looking forward to part 3 and what could be more spectacular than what you have already revealed ❤
That partially filled bunker was something to behold! Are the airfield runways gone (removed) or just covered with soil? So much of the munition and protection infrastructure is still around I wondered if the runways are still there. Thanks for taking us along on another adventure! You and EE stay safe and stay well!
They only used the grass as landing fields there. Lots of more structures still there and some we did not even find. Thanks Donald and greetings from us.
Great video from the dynamic duo, a question. Can you tell me if metal detecting/digging is forbidden here, as it is in other parts of Europe. The reason I ask is that a barrack foundation would be a great place to metal detect as the barrack had a wooden floor, coins etc would have easily been lost. Thank you again for sharing your time and knowledge with us.
There are different laws and regulations all over Eur. At this location one could do MD if one wanted just following the regulations for the area and landowners permit and good will :) Thanks my friend.
Another fascinating defense position! The number of machine gun tobruks is a definite show of force to whomever decided to storm these positions. Without the forest you could see for miles in all directions and anyone trying to sneak in would be cut to pieces. Yes we need to be remined that they were more than just soldiers. They were human beings. There were atrocities done by all sides not just by the Germans. History likes to leave things out in their teachings. Until part 3 take care and stay safe. 💖💯
Hi all, in that ammo bunker with the walled up bit did you look outside to see if it could be a sealed up secret part? You might find some gold or something 😊
Really interesting base thank you. It amazes me the HOURS they must have wasted pile sand into that bunker trying to seal it up only to give up and realsie they could never do it. STUPID people.
There is no way I'd ever be able to get into those partially filled bunkers. Thank you for getting in there and showing them to us.
