    In nature seeing the change of weather is always special, every cloud/fog changes anything and shape.. the forest is beautiful 😊👍💪

      Would love to bike it some day! Besides the climb up to Ces Clark, the rest of the track would have been a lot of fun on a bike! Was great walking it too though 😊
      Would love to paddle the river at the end as well, but we didn't have time unfortunately

    That was the first time I've seen you demoralized. I'm glad conditions improved. Beautiful views. My compliments on the musical scores. I typically prefer the ambient sound for footage like yours, but these were complimentary to the scenes; very pleasant additions. Great choices. Thank you for the memory. I lucked out with a nice, sunny day for the part of this one I did. Wonderful video.......again. Thank you for sharing.

      We were pretty demoralized on that first day to be honest! We were really looking forward to this tramp, specifically that first day across the ridge and the weather was pretty brutal. We thought we might have to turn around and head back, but luckily the wind calmed down a bit and we could safely cross.
      The next day was beautiful with the fog through the forest and spirits were back up 😁
      NZ Mountain Safety Council contacted us recently to use some of our footage crossing the ridge in bad weather, so it was worth it! 😅
      Thanks again for your kind words John!

    Did you find it all the more rewarding after the suffering?! The woodland shot alone was epic.
    Where are you now, Perth? You should seriously get in touch with Tourism Australia. Your cinematography is some of the best on TH-cam and way better than some hikers with 200k+ subscribers. One day… !

      We spent a couple 2-3 hours walking through that forest on the morning of the 2nd day, it was so beautiful.
      We're moving back to Perth this week and will be there for about a year, before we move back to Canada for a few years.
      Still got a good years worth of videos from New Zealand to get through 😅

    Gee.. you're keen to go out in that weather but I guess that's just part of the game in the West Coast. Really loved how you captured the rain forest at 7:00 👌

      The forecast for the first day didn't look that bad, but it ended up being a lot worse; classic New Zealand 😅.
      We seriously considered staying at Ces Clark hut and then turning around the next day. Luckily we soldiered on and the weather gods were nice to us

    Classic NZ most of the year regardless of the area. Wet, cold, mouldy and miserable. West Coast is just a place you cannot find a sunny day to shoot a welcome to NZ video as in Auckland or Napier. Greenery comes at the price.

    • @ChrisandDanya
      @ChrisandDanya  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We definitely got lucky during our 2 month trip up the West Coast. Besides this trip, it mostly rained during the week while we were working and then the weekends were mostly sunny.
      It's definitely a different part of the country that's for sure! Especially compared to the East Coast

    • @ChrisandDanya
      @ChrisandDanya  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Dave! 🙏
      I've got a wind sock/buff that wraps around my GoPro and then I make sure to face away from the wind 😅
      There's also a voice isolation feature in Davinci Resolve 18 that helps a lot

    Noticed the stinging nettles warning. No joke you wanna stay away from those. I slipped once in the Tararuas and grabbed a branch to catch myself - a branch covered in them. The initial pain like electric shocks was intense and lasted so long. Then the arm swelled and began to ache and for the next two days it was like I had the flu. So awful, from just contact with my palm and fingers!

    • @ChrisandDanya
      @ChrisandDanya  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the warning! We had never seen it before, but people have told us how bad it is. Doesn't sound like a good time.
      Glad you are alright!

    • @sal8527
      @sal8527 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Oh yeah it’s bad. Has killed a few people who, stumbling home drunk from the pubs, stumbled into a nest of it and got entangled. Can even kill horses! Serious neurotoxin. But on the bright side there’s a Uni in Oz looking into using it for a new class of painkillers so …. Maybe good stuff after all!

    • @ChrisandDanya
      @ChrisandDanya  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      By all accounts, the Old Ghost Road is supposed to be absolutely stunning, but definitely more of a challenge. One of our only regrets for our time in NZ is that we didn't carve time out to do it.
      Regardless of what you choose, you won't be disappointed!

      Her Nicholas, thanks for watching! 😁
      We generally prefer to hike to our car so it's there when we finish.
      In this case there is a transport company that operates from Punakaiki. You can drive out there on the morning, leave your car and get transport back to the start of the track
