    Wow, that maple ply is beautiful, really makes the bed look so much better than normal birch ply. We don't get such a variety of Ply here in UK, really envious. Can you send me some offcuts for Christmas please?

      Haha we love the maple plywood too! It's a little less yellow than birch with finish on! Glad you enjoyed the video :)

    A nice tip I learned if you get squeeze out on inside corners is to cut a drinking straw on an angle and use it to scrape out the squeeze out while it is still wet.

    Awesome work and design. Genuinely curious because I’m an amateur...is there a reason you decided to cut the joinery on the table saw instead of just using the router? Or maybe a router table?

    Love the build! Couldn't you have used a dado stack on the table saw though to cut the rabbet rather than making two passes with the single blade?

    • @Woodbrew
      @Woodbrew  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes you could! I prefer this method in plywood because if you cut in the middle of a layer then the cut tends to be cleaner doing it this way.

    Are dadoes really necessary? Since wood glue is strong enough, are they more just for alignment? Reason I ask is I don't have the necessary tools to cut dadoes accurately.

  • @nguyenchester
    @nguyenchester 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Why do you need to use the clear and the satin? Can the satin be used on its own?

    • @Woodbrew
      @Woodbrew  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Build coats with the clear and then top coat, or 2, with the satin if you want a more matte finish! If you build with the satin, it could make your finish look cloudy. 👍🏻

    Very nice project and video. One question: didn't the client want the plywood edges covered with veneer?

    • @Woodbrew
      @Woodbrew  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      He gave us full control over the design and we love exposed plywood edges! We do sometimes use edge banding to cover them depending on the project, but yes you could totally cover them!

  • @devils30hockey
    @devils30hockey 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Very good video. I have alot of problems using router bits on plywood to much tear out even with sharp bits. I do have a question: Why didn't you veneer the plywood edges? Was that yours or the clients choice?

    • @Woodbrew
      @Woodbrew  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not covering the edges is the look we were going for. Probably wouldn't have even use plywood if we were going for the solid look.

    If i was a client and saw how loose those dados were i wouldn't be happy

    • @Woodbrew
      @Woodbrew  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      They aren’t loose at all. We made an entire side and realized the measurements were wrong, so we tested it by literally jumping on the box and nothing broke. Wood glue is stronger than the plywood itself. We put up a few stories the other day showing just how strong these joint are😊

    I was back and forth with myself on whether or not I should make the comment that I'm about to make. I actually wasn't going to, because I thought it would be very inappropriate of me. However, your comments at the end of this video, changed my mind. I mean this in the most respectful way possible; though, it may not seem that way. You should consider a different style of facial hair and possibly a different type of music, or at least not having both of these in the same video together. I apologize if you find my comment to be offensive, and feel free to remove it. I hope you don't, but understand if you do. Other than being somewhat distracted and giggling through most of the video, I still found it to be very informative and entertaining. Thank you

    You guys are a waste of time.
    When someone searches on TH-cam then it is really because they haven't done it and they don't know it.
    You are skipping through the cutting bit and measurement. Then you guys are asking to purchase a rabbit joinery. Honestly, a lot of people watching the video don't have a router. And if they have then they don't know how to use it.
    Please understand that you are providing help not just making a video on what you are doing. I am not interested to know your project.
    I will advise anyone who reads this comment to not waste their time watching your useless video.
