Thank you for this list. I own 7 of the 12 from this list. Some of these I wouldn’t really call strategy games. Some are too tactical to be called strategy games, because you really cannot plan ahead so much as you have to play based on what you see available at the moment, but I love this list. Strangely 2 of these, I don’t know why I don’t own yet - Maglev Metro and Fantastic Factories. Never heard of Four Gardens - I gotta check that one out. Gizmos should be on this list too!!
12 newer Strategy Games that should be available in retail. No specific order. 1. Scythe 2. Lorenzo il Magnifico 3. Terraforming Mars 4. Everdell 5. Isle of Cats 6. Space Base 7. Raccoon Tycoon 8. Gizmos 9. Raiders of the North Sea 10. Museum 11. Roll Player 12. Hadara
Four Gardens left me so unsatisfied and bored like not many games before. The idea sounds good at first but the downtime is killing it for me. By the middle of the game I was just hoping that it might end soon.
I like Quacks but it's pretty casual. Sure you can get in a strategic mood with almost every game. But this game is very light and simple, and very luck driven.
I think Strategy Games in the context of DT's Christmas lists are always going to seem light because they are targeting more occasional or gamer-adjacent folks than the lists they put out for their everyday audience.
Woohoo! Thanks for including Maglev Metro!
I really love bringing the contributers in!
Some new contributors I've not seen before doing a great job. What channel is Britta on?
I love this series. I hope there is a list for beginner games and unique games like dive or canvas
Fantastic Factories is so good and satisfying. My wife and I can get it played in 30 minutes. I've had the expansion pre-ordered forever!
Quacks strategy game - you gotta be kidding me
I was about to say the same thing. My kids wouldn't call it a strategy game either.
Yeah, wtf
Really liking the 12 days of Christmas series. 👍
Such a great list of strategy games! I really have to give Fantastic Factories a try.
"what makes this game unique is that it's kind of a race to ten points" that's funny

These lists are so much fun 🎅
This is my category right here.
I agree, Tom. “Fantastic Factories” is a fantastic game.

I've heard great things about the gameplay of Khora. I'll check it out!
Is Fantastic Factories a bit like Steampunk Rally but without the racing? Because that sounds amazing.
Khora should be the english writing of the greek word χώρα which means country

Anyone else dislike ares expedition? TM is my favorite game but ares just didnt connect with me.
Quacks is not a strategy game, Matthew's takes always confuse me
What kind of game is it then?
Strategy is a very wide category, I think that Quacks fits there. It's not quite casual and it's not quite advanced.

There's an advanced strategy video if some of these games are too casual.
