On horrified. A house rule we sometimes use is not pick a monster till a monster card applies to a specific monster. that way, the team has no idea what they are up against. Now this variant uses one monster, but since it has the element of surprise, its surprisingly challenging
Tom, will you be at the World Series of Board Gaming 2022? Will Jason Levine? :) Seems like a good candidate? I wonder if they will put timers on players or just let them take forever on their turn...
We did our best to check on popular retailer websites if pre-orders were available and scheduled for before Christmas. I checked GameNerdz and it looks like the pre-order has closed since we put the list together. Sorry, it happens sometimes. There's 11 other great recommendations though!
There is currently a pre-order at BGG where it says it will be available in December. boardgamegeek.com/thread/2753479/november-store-update-promos-vault-and-games-get-f
@@DTChrisYi Thanks Chris. So Matthew is (was?) Melissa Makak? Does he not want to be known as Matthew Makak? Gives a more instant clue to who it is for those of us not in the know. Sorry for the deadnaming, but their BGG profile still says Melissa.....
Hey! Sorry for the confusion here. I go by both names: Matthew and Melissa and identify as non-binary and use he and she pronouns. Hope that clears some things up!
@@matthewmelissamakak2615 Hi! That's fair. Thanks for the reply. I don't watch all the Dice Tower segments otherwise by gosh I'd never get anything done! 😃 but I keep up with most of the presenters and I thought "hey a new guest face!" I haven't caught one of your segments in a bit and you've gone very skinny in the face 😊 so it threw me off, but I'm all up to speed now. It just helps to know who is recommending the game because if it's somebody who you've established has kind of the same tastes as you do (or the...ahem... 'person' you're buying the gift for...lol) then their picks hold a bit more weight you know? Anyway, thanks again and have an awesome day!
@@EmpressG Hey makes total sense! Haha yea I've lost a bit of weight due to anxiety (I talk about this on my own channel) but yes, keeping up with all the content is impossible especially the amount the Dice Tower creates! Haha yes, yes of course the gift you're getting for someone else ;) thank you for watching and hope you have an awesome day as well!!
The closest thing might be cards with synergies for different factions that get stronger with other cards from that faction. I appreciated the enthusiasm of that segment regardless.
I thought last year this format was because of COVID and stuff, but now it looks like this is how they are going to do the yearly 12 Games of Christmas. Where instead of being in the same room and talking about the games they each do a segment and splice it together. It just feels like an ad/commercial and not very fun. It's informative I guess. I miss the old way of doing these 12 days of Christmas. I suppose this is easier to do on top of all the other stuff they do.
I want to be clear it's not EASIER. In fact it's MUCH more work. We did it this way because we wanted to include a diverse range of voices in the videos, and we couldn't afford to fly everyone in.
I love the big top 10 lists where everyone presents their picks and they discuss the picks but I appreciate this format too. It’s nice to hear from a bigger group of people and in this short time frame I think it provides something different.
On the podcast, Tom and Eric listed their top ten games that they should play, but haven’t. This was in Eric’s list. And it’s on mine. I really want to play this, but it is extremely rare for me to be able to play a 2 player game that lasts four hours.
Yes, this category is for thematic games. Games that have a strong theme to it, a theme people would be interested in or recognize. The Christmas part is all about games to buy for family and friends or for yourself. Gingerbread House is my favorite Christmas game but it's hard to get now.
@@nancyann1090 I get it. It was just my initial thought that today's 12 Days list was actually Christmas Thematic games. I think I did see them do a list of Christmas games before. Funny I got called out when I posted a list of my Christmas themed games and I included Gingerbread House. They said it was actually a fairy tale theme. True but I still associate Gingerbread Houses with Christmas. Glad I'm not the only one that still thought it fit the category.
I love when the purple Dino ends up on top of the ice dice tower graphic. Don’t know why it just makes me happy.
Good job Chris sneaking jeeple in the video.
The one Jeeple. I like his Mr. Roger’s outfit!
Mik and Starla are so great! They are the best contributors by far! :D
Another great thematic game is Star Wars: Outer Rim! :D
Thanks. A great list and I appreciate the diversity of the games and presenters on so man levels 🙂

Love these videos! So helpful for gift ideas!
And Mike "The Rock" DiLisio is still presenting G:JotL . . .*chef kiss*
Chris Yi is looking sharp here 👍 fancy and holiday-ish! Beat Tom for best dressed on these top 10s 😁
Great suggestions! Dune is on my list!! Cheers
So nice, rewatching this one twice (after the re-upload)

I can almost guarantee there will be timers.
Hi Clara, what does your T-shirt say? Very intrigued!
I recognize the shirt. It says "Don't forget to love each other". It's a shirt produced by Critical Role.

I've watched all of these now and thought I knew pretty much everyone, but.....who's Matthew? I'm confused...
Matthew is a regular contributor on Board Game Breakfast with Smashing Buttons and Slamming Cards and does a video series called Teach the Teach.

Dune imperium has set collection?
Hmm I suspect they meant deck building. I can’t think of any set collection in the game.

Are there lots of MoM first ed still around? After all theese years everyone still underline "second edition".
a fair point and probably not - but it's such a big difference, needing a DM vs having an automated DM that I feel it's worth a few words :)

There's no scripting from us at all! Each person can say what they want about the games.
I agree does not have a nice flow. I don't like saying it but this video felt forced. There were some great games showed off though.

Have to agree with Clara for ‘SW: Rebellion’ as my top thematic game.

None of these were Christmas themed 😑
There is a top 10 holiday-themed list or something. I think these are just suggestions for Christmas shopping. Holly Jolly is a new Christmas game!
