    1. Don’t retwist often or as much
    2. Try not to palm roll the length of your locs a lot because it restricts the thickness
    3. Wear curly styles give you more volume
    4. Wear hair down often (little to none manipulation)

    I had to learn ALL OF THIS on my first set... this is my second set and I totally freeformed...my hair is somewhat fine and soft and freeformimg has gave me much more thickness this go round...I also blowdry my locs upside down on cool with a hand held...in the mornings, I message my scalp upside down for a minute which give me more volume...it boils down to accepting your genetics and knowing what works best for YOUR locs... thanks for the informative video💚

    Hello Desiree. My hair is fine, yet dense. In other words, each strand is fine, but I have a lot of hair. I tried starting my locs out with comb coils and i felt that was not the right way for me to go considering my hair type. so I decided to go with get my hair instant loc'd and 6 months later I haven't looked back. Not to say I don't have my own types of struggles, insecurities, and severe loc envy. Your hair is looking amazing! I dunno why I said all this, lol, but the short answer is I have fine strands, but a lot of hair. Great video! Fabulous tips!!!

      Two stranded twist. I'm considering doing that an having someone else do my parts and fewer of them too. I would have to wait until the end of the year of the start of next year.

      @Boho Trends Locs & Vlogs!
      Lol yes I started two stranded and yes I am considering combining them out. I started my locs myself and maintain them myself. I combined quite a few. Started out with 141 and now have 109. Reason I want to probably start over is because of all the random sized parts and different size locs. Just bothers me a bit.

    • @melaninmoet217
      @melaninmoet217 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Omg, I'm only a little passed 3.5 months in and i started with two strands twists. I wanted THICK so I only did 64 but I wish I did less, I just didn't want to have a scalpy look but I wish I did coils.. but I love the texture and how it looked more like a style in the beginning. Coils are more uniform and they seem to fluff up more but I wont stunt, I'm OBSESSED with them whether it's to see what they look like every five minutes or just thinking about what I could've done.

    Thanks for the tips, based on your advice i feel I'm in the right track. My locs are 5 months old. They are small in diameter but I have high density hair, with fine hair strands. I'm hoping for a full looking set of locs once they mature. As I only interlock, I dont palm roll at all and I think that has helped them expand at the ends. They are fuzzy but I like it, gives them character it will be fun to see how they turn out, as I started them myself and maintain them also...loving your hair too, good tips.

I didn’t know that and I been doing palm roll for the past 4 years now because that’s what the salon tells me to do 😐 and the salons do way too tight, where I get headaches for 3 days straight and I have to take pain killers 😖. Update: I’m in my 4th year now and I’m still strugglin… but doing what i can
    My hair is thin, different textures all over, and annoying. I do agree if i were to leave them out, they may thicken but insecurity and patience is real. I keep my locs braided with either extensions or braided under crochet. Length wise they are growing well... filling out... extremely slow. I’m aware that it won’t get better unless i become more comfortable in its natural state however, i also do not have it monetarily for further support. I have researched and gathered the best insight possible to help such as routines that incorporate holistic products. The difference in thickness throughout my scalp is ridiculous though and I’m starting To think i May have an issue with my scalp; possibly traction alopecia. Figuring out maintenance plus scalp treatment has been a pain. 😔 I’ve always wanted locs. I’ll be a year in come 1st of January but feel the opposite of excited. Sorry to ramble but i found your video informative and your spirit humbling. Thanks for sharing.

    As always, these are great tips. Thank you so much. I am six weeks loc’d and I have only retwisted my hair once. My plan for now is to retwist once a month. My hair is fine and my locs are thin right now, but I am hoping they will thicken up some as they mature. I actually love the size of your locs. I keep my hair covered in a satin bonnet most of the time, except when I leave the house. I lightly moisturize and separate them at least every other day. I have a lot of fizz, which I love and embrace. Do you think it is okay to keep them in the bonnet the majority of the time? I don’t want to do anything that will interfere with their development. I wear the bonnet to minimize lint. What do you think?

      Congratulations on your 6 weeks! I'm so excited for you! You have a nice journey ahead of you ❤️ I think you are definitely off to a great start! You are already doing what is needed to protect your hair and allow it to flourish on its own. One thing I will recommend is that you allow it to air out but other than that amazing job! ❤️

    Re-twisting your locks once a month will break your locks to. In the Caribbean they don’t re-twist it that often either. You need to space out the re-twisting a bit more longer than that.

    • @ashantihendon
      @ashantihendon 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Is that suggestion for baby locs before a year or mature locs? It seems like once they are mature its easier to go a longer time. I’m asking because I’m on 2 months in.

    I love this video but one thing I didn’t hear you say hair density that means a hell of a lot because if you’re has nothing regardless of what you do I don’t know it’s not gonna get thick And we always comparing my hair to somebody else you can’t do that you should appreciate what God gave you and go with it what am I saying just be grateful that’s all I’m saying

      Hey love! Congratulations on your 2 months! I'm so excited for you! Have you thought about interlocking? It's not something I am too familiar with however my mom (who does have locs and a looser texture that is prone to unraveling) has done that for most of her loc journey.

      I’m in a similar situation. Have a head full of hair, 5 years in, most of my locs are still thick as original, but there are a few that are super thin. I also need to get out of the habit of playing in my hair. Kind of like an auto-pilot thing.
