  • Hear me out guys. Here's my list of things to not do in an audition - these really apply to both commercial and theatrical auditions!
    These things might not seem like a big deal but trust me - sometimes they can make or break the casting director's opinion of you.

      You have to let that go! They most likely don't even remember that it happened. Just learn from it and move forward.

    "Don’t apologize" should always be the rule, even on set. Or don’t beat yourself up for messing up. It’s totally amateur. Assume yourself like a pro. Always better to laugh at yourself and ask to do it again. Thanks for mentioning.

    Crazy story.....One time I auditioned for a police training video as a guy who waved a gun around. Turned out that he *wanted* them to shoot him so he could commit suicide.
    When I got there and checked in, everyone was introduced and then they handed me a prop.
    A Mac-10 submachine gun. A REAL ONE!!
    Don't worry it was cleared and locked so no danger but still, a super soaker or something equally innocuous would've worked just fine!

    Enjoyed the information. I am thinking of coming back to LA to be an actor. I have been doing theater in New England. Great information presented in a funny and friendly manner. Thanks. Nothing more difficult than going on auditions in LA. I always used to think of what I should have done in the car afterwards. Call backs are worse because you were close but did not get chosen.

    Do you have a video on television acting vs theater acting?

    • @AngiePattersonYT
      @AngiePattersonYT  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      No, but that is something you'd learn in a class. The base of those two acting mediums is the same, but just projection/delivery is different.

    What's the difference between supporting and principle actors?

    • @AngiePattersonYT
      @AngiePattersonYT  5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Hey Ginny! I believe they're very similar in most cases. For example in commercials, even if you're "supporting," as long as you actually auditioned for the job you're still a "principle." You'll get paid the same as the people who are more featured (if this is a union job).

  • @kristen_perry002

    I have a question. Do you want to walk in to the audition room being your character or yourself?

    • @AngiePattersonYT
      @AngiePattersonYT  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey Kristen! Great question... people (both actors and casting directors) have different opinions on this. I say it's a case by case basis - meaning it depends on a few factors like the size of the role, the actual character, etc.

    • @ellak.8600
      @ellak.8600 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      no no no no no. do not walk in as character. most tv characters are jerks, stupid, or drug addicts. they might think that you are actually like that and they would HATE to work with someone like that
