Hi! Thank you for these videos. I have always wanted to act, passed it by in high school because of insecurities, and am in my senior year of college WISHING i could go back and change that.
After weeks I finally found the right time to tell my mom I miss acting (I was in class for 2 years and stoped for 2 years to focus on school) but now I can get back to acting classes in Amsterdam! I am so exited and want to act somewhere in Amsterdam south. is anyone here Dutch and/or knows a good acting class in Amsterdam (south)? There are a lot of acting schools that are just for theater acting and not film acting.
I'm in my last year of college (joint liberal arts degree). I have a background in performance art, have occasionally worked in theatre in the set&props&directing departments, and finally started taking an improv class two months ago because I want to transition into... less-abstract narrative, I think. As the weeks roll by, I'm becoming more unsure if I benefit from the (literal) direction of the class and realize that I have no reference point of what to look for in the teaching. This video gave me some helpful clues! Thank you!
I graduated from the university of North Texas and they have a really good theatre program. I learned a lot I didn't even know how to act until college late bloomer here.
I took drama 1 in my sophomore year of high school and it was awesome, I wish I hadn't moved cause then I could have taken drama 2 and learned more, I want to be an actress and take more acting classes so badly

Hey Rick, as someone who has been acting a long time and who has also done a lot improv teaching (where stuff like this happens a lot), I think your teacher did not handle this right. If you in any way feel like your personal boundaries are crossed during scene work, it's important to address - for both you and your seen partner. It's important to feel a sense of safety (physical, emotional, psychological, etc) doing your work as an actor - as you know, it can be very vulnerable work and you are accessing and revealing all sorts of parts of yourself. Now I didn't witness this happen, so I'm only speaking to your version of the story. I don't know what level of a class this was - often weird stuff happens in acting classes, especially beginner/intermediate level classes - when people are performing and being watched, the ego reacts in multiple ways - so not sure what the motivation was for your scene partner to knock your hat off (whether it was a character choice, weird impulse, to get extra reaction, etc). Anyway, it could have been a great teachable moment for the class - sorry your teacher didn't validate what happened for you and take it as an opportunity to address boundaries while performing. All this said, over time, you learn the best way to take care of yourself as an actor no matter who is in charge. It's a strange world to work in - but a wonderful one! Hope this helps!

Acting classes do ask for money; you have to pay for them. Agents and managers should NOT ask for money up front. You should try finding a community of actors in LV and get recommendations for good classes from them.
Sorry Michaela, I'm not familiar with the industry in that area. I would advise joining an acting class or theater group near you, and then asking for referrals from other actors.

master kenobi YESSSSSSSS never go to big cities for acting jobs unless you’re ready to go against actors that 3/4 have already been in film. In Austin its less competition and lots of movies are being shot here just this year. So stay here OR a good state RIGHT NOW is North Carolina.

Hi great video
Criticism? Classmates are just trying to help
Usually, but not all of them. Or they may mean well but are way off base.
Im trying to find a las Vegas acting class >.< I’m 24 and I’ve been scammed when I was in high school and I definitely don’t want for that to happen again what’s a red flag ?? Besides asking for $$$ upfront >.
Acting classes do ask for money; you have to pay for them. Agents and managers should NOT ask for money up front. You should try finding a community of actors in LV and get recommendations for good classes from them.
Are there any in the antelope ca area near sac?
Sorry Michaela, I'm not familiar with the industry in that area. I would advise joining an acting class or theater group near you, and then asking for referrals from other actors.
Hi
Where does one find these acting classes?.
There is a list in the description box of this video, and most of them are offering virtual classes right now. :)
@@AngiePattersonYT My apologies I should have looked before asking. From my research so far Canterbury University ranks highly. Although I am unaware if they do virtual classes. Thank you for the prompt response.
Do you have any recommendations for a class in Austin TX?
Hey Jorge, sorry, but I'm not familiar w/ the industry in Austin at all... I would ask around on Twitter if I were you! :)
Is Austin a good city for actors?
Angie Patterson thank you!
Carol Hickey, Maurice Moore are GREAT TEACHERS ! Carol has a class May 5th for beginners. I’ll be there actually so yah
master kenobi YESSSSSSSS never go to big cities for acting jobs unless you’re ready to go against actors that 3/4 have already been in film. In Austin its less competition and lots of movies are being shot here just this year. So stay here OR a good state RIGHT NOW is North Carolina.
_ok_
Any good private coach in NYC??
I'm not familiar with the business in NYC, hopefully someone here can answer! :)
@@AngiePattersonYT thank you 🥂

Hi, I’m from Toronto, Canada. Where do u recommend me to start studying acting here? I just finished school and didn’t got to any acting classes before because I was scared, I really love acting and I really want to pursue my dream now :)
