Worked at Emage and him and Angel were the park groms. Kid had it rough but skated all day and clearly had the skills and drive. Best thing he ever did was jump to LA and go for it's obviously worked out. Love watching him succeed from afar and on social media. Good dude and great skater
this is a real one for the top 3 best episodes ever! David is a true soul skater. so muchhhhh inspiration through the years! loved every second of this. we need more big hearts like his in this industry.
Wow! Just WOW! I am left speechless… thank you David for opening up like you did and being as vulnerable as you were.. Big respect 🫡 It’s a beautiful thing to see someone come out of “the trenches” like David said… even more impressive/respectable when that person keeps on getting knocked down and gets back up each time and exceeds in every sense of the word! David, you’re a true inspiration not just for people in similar circumstances but an inspiration for all humans!! Thank you Nine Club for always always coming through with the best interviews/content… Love you Ol’ buddies !! 🫶🏽
Genuinely one of the nicest guys not only in this industry, but in general from every occasion I've had with him. He's an example of what your demeanor should look like in every situation
This has to be one of the best episodes I've ever watched, and I've watched most of them. The level of commitment he had to that tre flip nose blunt and putting together that part is extraordinary. Honestly made me emotional hearing about how much it meant to him. Also F those guys that robbed him, I hope they sit in prison for the rest of their lives.
im so fucking happy they finally did this. love you david. was waiting a long time for this one. dudes a homie, a legend, and an inspiration. thanks for doin this one guys. i needed this in my life.
Hell yeah, Mr. Reyes. Thank you for sharing your story. You're the living manifestation of skateboarding. I shed one tear when you said your Muska board got hit by a bus.
I remember downloading “what are you doing” in like 2007 or something from Florida off of IRC chat and thinking how ahead Colorado kids were, especially David. Now I live in denver and David is such a legend, really like how thorough this episode is. Shout out to Colorado, I’ll miss ya
Another great episode, can't wait for his second and third visits to get these next chapters! Dude sounds like he could walk outside and do nothing and still have a story at the end of it.
This dudes story is crazy , emotional rollercoaster of gnarliness and perseverance , amazing interview Nine Club crew , definitely an eye opener on this most underrated skateboarder , OG storys were epic , Good job guys 🙌🍻🛹
Wow dudes been through a lot. Have always liked his skating since the foundation days. I hope to see this dude continue to succeed in his endeavors, he’s very deserving of it.
Brilliant episode fellas. I had to rewatch a bunch of David's parts after this, the man is a machine and he's clearly got a lot more in the tank too. Thank You is clearly a great home for him.
The story of him landed the trick hits home and always refreshing to others who have been through that work of not giving up =} inspired! Thank you skateboarding ❤️
Wow. Best episode in a while my dudes. Right on David, keep the firing burning! Loved the story, and definitely eating my words anytime I said only the old heads have good stories.
I'm from Denver and I remember seeing this kid just tear up the park when he was really young. So stoked to see him getting the love he deserves.....Mile high!
Wow - seen every episode and this snuck up on me. Like Roberts I also didn't really know Reyes' backstory and he tells it well. Much respect, seriously great episode!
Great episode. Love David Reyes. Been following him on Instagram for a while. Always seemed like a genuinely good person. To hear his whole story really confirms that and I'm so happy for him being on Thank You and just killing it
Hearing the story of clipper.. gnarly. Also why I miss stop and chats. Watching/hearing stories behind a lot of the clips was always great. Hope they come back.
Such an amazing episode, I'm so happy things worked out well for David after all the bad luck he's had in the beginning of his career. Can't wait for his new part!
It’s so funny that he talked about that XGAMES board. I literally had one like that too for my second board. It was from target and it was actually proper! It was really close to a cheap complete you’d get today! Love this episode.
Two of my favorite skateboarding memories are working with David on frontside flips and varial heels down the double kink stairs at Denver park and another night David, Angel and myself racing to see who could gap from the double kink area to the mini ramp area first, my last attempt the lights turned off mid air(pretty sure Angel was who I learned how to hack the lights to turn them back on after park close as well…). Soon after that, the saga of ankle blowouts started.(9 total, right and left combined) I knew in the 01-03 range that David (and Angel) would be the ones to carry the Colorado torch. David’s Thank You part honoring CO roots was massive, and learning the story of that 3flip nose blunt makes it even more heavy. 303 came about just a couple years after I started skating so a 25 year video, sight unseen, is one of the greatest things a CO boy of my age could hope for. I hope Gordie is a part of this as well, in any capacity. David. Thanks for getting back up. Thanks for skating with your heart. Thanks for giving props to your roots. Love for you brother.
I filmed a line for David Reyes at a skate park before and I fucked up the clip he landed so bad I still think about it. The line had a kickflip front 5050 on a flat round bar.
met him many years ago in puerto vallarta on those bikini contest, he was always always so kind and nice glad to see him still skating hard and been healthy
Went on a skate trip to cali! Skated Cherry park and this wholesome ass dude gave me his time, great vibe and convo off the back! I was nervous skating with alot of pros for the first time , he also said some motivational shit and he really reminded me that pros can be super genuine and unique like himself !
God. Skateboarding what it brings. The bonds you make. These stories how every interview you can find something to relate to. I think skateboarding is so special in a way where it can be still skateboarding and take you on so many paths. I hate and also don't hate to say it but im so glad I didn't miss out on skateboarding. Im glad the times of mental break downs, my best friends ever, the perfect pinch or catch of a flip trick. Manual balance. So many things. I talked to a doctor when I was 19 or so sayin how invested in skateboarding I was and he said that may have an effect on future life. Like both mentally and physically. He was right and wrong. I haven't skated in 8 years and still my brain won't stop. Its never left. I also think how healthy I was is keeping how unhealthy I am now and able thing. Which isn't great. I highly recommend skateboarding though. At first it isn't easy but once you find a little rhythm its the best addiction
Grew up skating with little David in denver. So great to see him succeed despite his challenges, great human and great skater.
Damn battle rap royalty has entered the chat! Cool to see you're into skating too haha 🙌
Worked at Emage and him and Angel were the park groms. Kid had it rough but skated all day and clearly had the skills and drive. Best thing he ever did was jump to LA and go for it's obviously worked out. Love watching him succeed from afar and on social media. Good dude and great skater
