      My Step dad isn’t stupid
The people ahead of him who can’t use a CBR are. Everything that the mobile device or computer that you’re using was brought by a truck driver.? How about the lumber that built the home that you sleep in every day? Or what about the food that goes in your cupboards? Or the toilet paper that wipes your ass.? I’m a trucker’s daughter and let me tell you something the amount of unbelievable ignorant comments that I have seen makes me sick! My dad is literally in critical condition. The police don’t even know how he is alive right now and by critical I mean on oxygen, he may never drive again. He may never be able to be the same person he was last week. do you understand that do you understand? Do you understand that life is precious? Do you understand that is somebody’s loved one risking their lives to bring the necessities of life to the world and a big truck or how about the fact that they don’t get to eat with their family or wipe our tears or miss our graduations Maybe think before you speak. Words hurt they hurt a lot, especially in this situation. Nobody is stupid. It’s lack of experience. There’s a difference and to be perfectly honest with you I would like to find the stupid person who caused the accident and I would like to rip them a new one like they did my dad! Life is only what you make of it just remember everything we have in this world was brought by a truck driver risking his life to make sure everybody else is taken care of whether it be a piece of steel a piece of lumber, a pack of cigarettes, a banana that you bought at Walmart or how about the toilet paper that you wipe your ass with. Be thankful that you’re still alive today because some of us are clinging to hope. My mother always taught me if you have nothing. Nice to say then don’t say anything at all so I’ve been a brutally honest person all my life. I say it how it is I was taught to work hard and bust my balls, even though I’m a woman, and you know what I will forever be grateful for everything that my stepdad taught me if you’re a trucker my heart goes out to you honestly

Imagine that! A bit of snow and a pile-up on the 401! It's usually driving way too fast for conditions. However, that piece of the 401 can be trecherous during bad weather, but there are just too many lousy drivers out there. Everyone thinks it's okay to drive like it's a sunny summer day, no snow-rated tires and playing with some sort of device instead of concentrating on driving in crappy weather. I used to drive that stretch of the 401 for many years. I sure am glad I don't have to any more. Hauling gravel and heavy equipment is bad enough out here in Alberta. Good luck to you all.

With every snowfall we are getting more and more of these accidents, especially on the 401. People we live in Canada, get used to driving in this, slow down, or stay home. Half of them don't even follow the route and instead tare up the back roads that are not meant for their weight and often get stuck on them too.

By the way, Pakistani truck drivers never use flip flops while driving and in the trucking industry, there are not even 1% Pakistani drivers. Most Pakistani drivers speak pretty good English. I ran a small trucking business 20 years ago. I know the facts and progression of immigrant truck drivers. Among those Indian truck drivers, the most dangerous are those who came to Canada on a student visa, quit their studies, get a G license and then truck license ( Only God knows how ! ), some are 20-21 years old, have no road sense, no training and a very aggressive attitude on the road. They are mostly from Indian Punjab, have very little education, from very humble farming background and over here, they think that they are Kings. I suggest that minimum age should be 28 years to get a truck driver's license, especially for the immigrants and a stern action against fake, poorly managed training schools.

Following too closely is a common problem with many trucks on the crowded 401. Some drivers are good and experienced. Others and not experienced, in too much of a hurry, not courteous, often dangerous. You get what you pay for.Sometimes tragically its costs someone their life.

I would like to comment please. I know the world will eventually see this but I am going to be open and transparent with everyone. I posted this video on Facebook on Friday morning. There is another video circulating social media with an actual reporter stating the facts of the conditions.
The big red Mack truck is my Step Dad… someone who has loved me and guided me in life for over 25 years. A man who has 4 children, who is a father, a brother, a son. He is a human being who plays a vital role in the world. The long hard nights, no showers, poor weather conditions, violence in some parts he’s travelled. Let’s not mention he was in New York City when 9/11 happened, stuck for days while my mom was at home with 2 young babies. Let’s not mention the holidays he missed, the birthdays, the graduations.
I’ve seen some absolutely horrible comments people post about this person and that person wearing sandals and a bunch of bullshit and ignorant comments.
Without a truck driver risking their life you wouldn’t have :
    The car you drive
    The phone you talk on
The lumber that built your home
Let alone the toilet paper used to wipe your ass with !
People don’t realize that in Canada we have laws on the right to refuse unsafe work… in this case it was unsafe! But you know what? All these truckers knew that driving, knew the risk was being taken. Knowing they may not make it home in one piece.
I won’t go into details about the injuries as it is not good. He’s lucky to be alive. To be honest i don’t know how he even survived this given the injuries he sustained. He has a big heart and loves his job, he taught me how to drive… The day my daughter was born in 2008 he was in the USA and showed up a day later. She was his first grand daughter, I didn’t have a name for her and he said name her “Harley” because he had just won a FATBOY. I looked at him and said “okay”. A name is very important in life it’s our identity. He gave her that. He named my baby girl. He busts his ass everyday to make sure that my younger siblings have a roof over their head, nice cars to ride in and the necessities of life. He has risked his life many times to do a “load”, to bust his balls for the world to make sure whatever he’s hauling gets delivered regardless of the poor weather conditions, the lack of hygiene, or the sleep deprived environment.
Just remember something the next time you judge or say something. Words hurt and those words can’t be taken back. If you have a trucker in your life, hold them close, wash their stinky clothes, pack their blue collar pants and hug them tight. Never forget the 3 words that mean the most “I love you”
Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery but today is a gift that’s why we call it the present.
The minute I saw his high viz jacket and pants I never cried so much, I could smell the diesel when I hugged him the last time we spoke.
He’s been like a father to me since I was 12 years old. He’s wiped my tears, gave me advice, gave me a place to stay with my kids when we faced homelessness. He is a proud and strong man. No matter how much you pray it won’t take back the reality that has been faced from this.
On the ministry transport website they posted 3 vehicles, 6 transports and some were jack knifed. He was 1/6. The only one critically injured, literally on oxygen suffering severe injuries. My heart is broken for my family. Nobody wants to see a loved one suffer. If you have a heart please don’t say things about “bad drivers” because he was not. He has over 50 plus years driving experience. I’ve been on many motorcycle and truck rides with him and he’s probably one of the safest drivers I know. Tomorrow is never promised so be happy with what you have today as our life can change forever in literally 1 second. If you’re a blue collar man/woman I love and appreciate every single one of you and everything you do for this world. You deserve all the credit in the world for what we have today.
Life is a gift, live each day like it’s your last…
In my step dad’s words he would always say when I was younger “it’s not you driving it’s the other idiots on the road” and he was right! 💔💔💔

So many inexperienced truck drivers some women on the roads. They think they are driving a small compact cars. My dad and brother drove for 20 years doing the east & west coast and never had an accident. Let the old boys teach the new drivers they might learn some defensive driving. Hope they are smart enough to have enough gas to wait it out until being able to get moving. ?????

Yep they follow ten feet apart thinking they might get lost , guessing that’s why or stupid, plus there’s so many buttons on the dash of a truck it’s to overwhelming for them ,not. To lazy to figure out turn that Jake off on ice snow, winter period until they at least have another weeks experience. That cow they drove harvesting the opium never hit the ditch.

All the genius here with the advice on how to drive. You can't go too slow right? All it takes is one fool with a death grip on the wheel going way to slow and this happens. This isn't even a bad road no need for this.
