- Arriving at Holkham Beach and dropping on the Household Cavalry training is a matter of extreme chance. The Regiments of The Life Guards and The Blues and Royals make up the Household Cavalry and they have a summer training barracks in Norfolk close to where we live. Once or twice a year they drop onto the beach at Holkham unannounced and we have been trying to watch them for a few years but never been lucky enough to to be there at the right time. This time we hit theJackpot, you will notice that some of the younger riders are not yet permitted saddles or stirrups.

Love watching the horses on beach
It’s quite something to behold Sue, they haven’t been this year due to other commitments but they’ll be back. They have a summer camp at Bodney and an open day usually in July . Thanks for watching Helen and Martin.
My local beach and couldn't imagine living anywhere else. Lost count the times we see this magnificent scene

You're very welcome , they are quite a sight. They have a summer camp in Norfolk and have an Open Day each year, although not this year as the Regiment are on ceremonial duties with the King in Scotland , but I took some pictures last year which you might enjoy - this is the link - www.behance.net/gallery/151074449/Household-Cavalry-Open-Day . They are free to view without subscription. Thanks very much for watching and commenting , all the very best Helen and Martin

Hi Julia, it's a wonderful sight, the horses are magnificent. It's an annual thing when the Household Cavalry come to Norfolk camp at Bodney. They usually have an open day to in July , but not this year due the additional ceremonial demands. It's a great day. We didn't video that day but there are some pictures here www.behance.net/gallery/151074449/Household-Cavalry-Open-Day . Thanks for watching best wishes Helen and Martin

The household cavalry was awesome thanks for sharing 🙂👍
They were awesome mate , did you see that some had no saddles ? Not allowed until they have learned to ride without. Thanks for watching.
Great! Thank you for sharing 😊👍👍
you're welcome , thanks for watching
It’s a great thing the trust between horse and rider- unless you have tried it- you have no idea how hard it is, so all the ‘experts out there’ try before you comment!
And yes- I ride, and my 18’2 shire loves the beach..
Most of the new recruits never rode before they joined the Regiment . The troopers riding with out saddles are the new starters . It certainly isn’t easy, thanks for watching Liz Helen and Martin.
I've only had one horse willing to go up to his chest in water.
Should have been brave enough to ride him bareback. RIP Flash.
How lucky you were to experience that, and so beautifully captured. Thanks for sharing 👍
So lucky Sue , I have waiting for years . Thanks for watching.
