    • @AVMEVideos
      @AVMEVideos  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      you would need 4 speaker PA system , make a note of the SPL of the speakers , place two at the front then two roughly after 25-30 feet. Add delay to the 2nd set of speakers , formula to calculate delay is .88 x distance in feet = delay in mili seconds . Place the speakers in same direction to avoid phasing issues. Hope this helps.

    Bought a new 2018 Mackie Thump 12A 1300 watt for a personal vocal monitor to hear my self more clearly and most of all more loudly.
    Already running 1200 watt peavey amp into 2 peavy passive 15 inch speakers. Its level has been loud enough for years but i knew I needed to hear myself better to perform better and avoid vocal fatigue. Its not loud enough and disappears as soon as we start playing. Tried different cables, dynamic and live condenser mics etc. Mic gain and mon both up at 90% then starts feeding back at 100. Sounds ok when no one else is playing. Plays music from phone or ipad much louder than singing. Were not crazy loud either. Loud but not intrusively or out of the ordinary for a rock band. This thing would be great for kareoke or an acoustic quieter band but not for rock music. Talked to several techs who were all confused from different companies. Finally received a replacement and its exactly the same. 1300 watts should be blowing my hair back. Is one powered wedge usually good enough or do you absolutely need 2? Never had many problems on stage hearing myself on 1 of the houses though they were not self powered. We have an old powered old JBL 500 watt or or something that's around 30% louder and lower watts.
    Anyone else experience this with Mackie or any other mfgs? Is this normal? Thanks!

      ok i know all about this as an electronics hobbyist. [ my mates got one ] mackie thump 15 quotes 1,000 W. ; 400W RMS , 800W peak, for bass, 100W RMS 200 peak for top, this is a con, i downloaded manuel, where i got all thoses figures, where it also says MAINS LINE IN 130 W, so how can it give out around 8 times more power then it takes in, ; answer by law an amp company have to quote accurate power consumption but for output power the can quote what they like ie i can garrantee that your amp is absolutly no where near 1,300 W its a big con and just about all manufactures do it, check your amps manuel, and look for power in/power consumption [ or check the back plate my roland KC550 claims 180W but back plate says 135 W so allowing for loss due to inificiancy, proberly only 100W RMS. and base your understanding of the actual amp output power on that. taken account of loss in efficiancy from powere consuption input. cheers. carl.

    • @wakerickman
      @wakerickman 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      forgot, my comment is the reason your new makie thump isnt blowing your hair away is becaused as ive said below, yourve been conned like thousands of people the macke thump like all amps that dont quote there powere output honestly, and your mackie amp wont be any where near, 1,3000 W, i would urge you to read the manuel and look for "line in" or "power consumption, or its "back plate" to get a real idea of what the wattage of the amp rearly is. cheers. carl.

      also dont know where you live but if you live in the U.K. we have some good laws when buying from a buissness/dealer [ doesnt apply to private sales ] except goods must be as described ie if anyone including private sales sell something with a discription, the goods must be as described or your entitled to your money back, and you would have a good case there as ive exsplained, also laws that only apply to bussnessis / deales which say goods must be fit for purpose [ yours obviosly is not ] and mechanable quality which i guess that wont apply hear as quality is obviosly ok.so you could allways take that route if you live in the U.K. and get your money back. note if you are looking for a better powered PA speaker get the top of the line yamaha one, cant remember its name off hand [ my bro has a pair ] but its the best on the market puting out 132 Db only cost around £450, there very light and blow away all the compatition [ ]makie thump 15 only 127 Db ie the yamaha is 4 times the volume. cheers. carl

    • @AVMEVideos

      yes zoom f8 would do the job , install a condenser shotgun mic on top of your camera or any other LAV mic for interviews , feed into zoom f8 . Get a audio feed( mix of all mics) from the in house audio mixer & feed to zoom f8. In post use the audio feed that suits you & your client's requirements.

    Hello I have to two hundred watt speakers if i was buying a powered mixer how watts does it need to be or if i get a power amp how many watts would it need

    • @abearun
      @abearun 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      kennedy boucher you need at two channel amp that delivers 100 watt to each channel if 100 watts is your speakers program power. If 100 watts is your speakers continuous power then the amp needs to be able to deliver double that power for each channel and if 100 watts is your speakers peak power then the amp needs to be able to deliver half that power to each channel. More importantly check the impedance of your speakers and the amp needs to match the power at the same impedance. Hope this helps😊.

    can you give me a diagram illustration on how to connect 2 single speaker and a double speaker to an amplifier

    • @NyxeeLindo
      @NyxeeLindo 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      On each speakers, you will see a "link". Say if you have 4 speakers and 1 amplifier which only has 2 outputs, 1st thing to do is connect the first two speakers into each outputs of the amplifier. 2nd, connect the remaining 2 speakers to each of the "link" on the first set of speakers.. Make sure the wattage and resistance correspond to the speaker and amp relations.

    GREAT VIDEO!!. I have a question I hope someone can help me with PLEASE! So in my PA system I have sonic maximizer, graphic equalizer, two-way stereo crossover, compressor and a Behringer ultra bass enhancer and 2 amps 1 playing my mains and the other for my subs. I am running my system in stereo meaning channel 1 channel 2 (left/Right) my bass is in mono my problem is I want to add second EQ just for my subs because my mains are getting too much bass from the single EQ so my question is how do I add a second EQ for just bass with my mains still in stereo. Thank you so much in advance.

    • @AVMEVideos
      @AVMEVideos  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      low output CH1 from crossover to 2nd EQ CH1 input ( i.e for right bass bin / sub)
      Low output CH2 from crossover to 2nd EQ CH2 input ( i.e for left bass bin / sub)
      2nd EQ CH1 output to 2nd amp (driving bass bin Right) CH1 input
      2nd EQ CH2 output to 2nd amp ( driving bass bin Left) CH2 input
      2nd amp CH1 output to right bass bin input
      2nd amp CH2 output to left bass bin input
      there are many different ways of achieving this depending on your setup and equipment , this post crossover-EQ is for your speakers only and should not be confused with the parametric EQ on input channels and GEQ on inputs/outputs , hope this helps ! Let us know the outcome.

    my question away from this, we are using lifesize video conferencing and we have always the problem of return sound , i guess due to the sensitivity of lifesize mic .. any idea to reduce that
    if we used 2 different methods for receiving and sending sounds through different speakers is that would help
    thanks

    • @AVMEVideos
      @AVMEVideos  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      In lifesize VC unit there is tool built in , its called echo cancellation , enable it . Make sure the mics are placed as far away from speakers as possible in your setup. Adjust the mic input gain to a level where they are audible don't apply too much gain , same applies to speakers ( adjust the output from amp to a level where they are audible but not too hot in the room ) . Setting up proper gain structure is an art , play with your devices and room acoustics to get best audio possible .If you are using external dsp then make sure feedback eliminator or echo cancellation is enabled.Good luck.

    Hi sir.. i have two fullrange passive speaker, each speaker is 450W 8ohms and one active subwoofer 550W 8ohms..what amplifier should i need?..second question if i use PASSIVE sub woofer 550W 8ohms, what amplifier should i need?..thank you sir..

    • @abearun
      @abearun 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      If 450 W 8 is the continuous power then you need an amp that can deliver twice that power in each channel at 8 ohm, if 450 W is the program power you need an amp that delivers the same amount of power in each channel at 8 ohms, if 450 W is the peak power then you need an amp that delivers half that power to each channel at 8 ohms. Same rules apply to the passive subwoofer. Now the active subwoofer does not need an amp. Hope that helps.🙂

  • @lightspeed79

    Very helpful. Ok so If I need an output of 1500W, I would have to put in parallel 2 speakers of 300W in parallel. Therefore I would get 600W by daisy chaining them then multiply by 2.5 to determine my power amp wattage which would give 2.5x600=1500W? Is this correct?

    • @AVMEVideos
      @AVMEVideos  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Juan Pablo Monzon , Correct minimum 960W (1.6 x600) & maximum 1500 W (2.5x600) to drive two speakers from one channel ( on amp) in parallel mode. make sure the impedance of the speakers is supported by the amp as well.

    excellent video, i learned a lot from it specially running 2x8 ohms speakers in parallel mode and how much power you would need for that.
    I have Mackie PPM 1012 powered mixer 1600 watts at 4 ohms. My speakers are (Peavey PR15) 8 ohms. I realized that my powered mixer is running at full capacity and it gives only 250 ohms when I run my speakers and the sound quality is very very bad. I am only one man band with one mic and a keyboard and still my setup sucks.
    What do you recommend to fix this set up? how can I EQ my keyboard to get a better sound?

    • @AVMEVideos
      @AVMEVideos  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sudanonlie , i have checked the specification of your Mackie powered mixer , the amp power ratings are 300 Watts RMS per channel at 8 Ohms , 500 Watts RMS per channel at 4 Ohm . Your Peavey speakers are 400 W RMS @ 8 Ohms. So yes your powered mixer/amp is not providing required Wattage to your speakers. My recommendations are as follow.
      1: Buy a seperate amplifier minimum 600 W RMS @ 8 ohms per channel to support your peavey speakers. If you cannot buy a new amp then try running the speakers at max 60 to 70 % output volume .
      2: No need to EQ your keyboard , keep the original sound coming out of it. But if you must need to do then EQ using the EQ knobs on the channel the keyboard is connected to.

    How about if I mic my guitar cab, then run mic xlr into di then into mixer. Would this be okay but seems like everyone hooks it up this way.

    • @AVMEVideos
      @AVMEVideos  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't see any technical benefit of doing it that way other than eliminating ground loops if any in signal domain of connected devices. Main purpose of using DI box is to match the impedance of guitar ( instrument level) to line level input or microphone level input on a mixer. If plugging in a microphone to microphone input on a mixer then I don't see any point of using a DI box other than ground lift element.

    If there are two speakers what should be the distance between the speakers?

    • @AVMEVideos
      @AVMEVideos  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      depends on the SPL of first speaker from 2nd speaker , calculate the distance from 1st speaker to 2nd speaker and formula is 0.88 x distance between first speaker in feet to 2nd speaker. Sound travels at 1130 feet per second.
      So lets say the distance is 25 feet between two speakers then 0.88 x 25 = 22ms of delay should be added to eliminate the eco effect and keep speakers in sync.

    How far should you keep speakers from the audience also height of speakers?

    • @AVMEVideos
      @AVMEVideos  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      again depends on the SPL of the speakers used for the application and the layout of the sitting. Height should be adjusted to their ears if standing or sitting , general rule is adjust the height to carter both sitting and standing positions.

    I'm an acoustic musician, currently working for small gigs and on a fairly small budget. What equipment would you recommend? Since I'd just be using mic and acoustic, would a small mixer work?

    • @AVMEVideos
      @AVMEVideos  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes a small mixer would work perfectly if you are starting with a mic and acoustic Guitar. I would recommend you to buy Yamaha AG06 , it is a very good live mixer , recording audio interface and a loop back mixer , it comes with decent mic PRE amp , sample rate is 192khz and 24bit-depth . You will get the famous Yamaha SPX processing effects DSP app with it as well & Cubase DAW.Price in US is around $100-120 & in UK about £100.

    • @AVMEVideos
      @AVMEVideos  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +martin kalule , I have created this video , link is ( th-cam.com/video/qXpe5WZkU1M/w-d-xo.html ) . If you have a external GEQ and want to connect to your PA system then following is the signal flow. Lets say you are putting a GEQ for 2 wedges ( monitors ) on the stage.
      1: From mixer take AUX 1( L monitor) out to CH1 input on GEQ.
      2: From mixer take Aux 2 ( R monitor) out to CH2 input on GEQ.
      3: GEQ CH1 out to Amp 1 CH1 input then CH1 out to L monitor input. ( if Monitors are active then GEQ CH1 out to input on L monitor).
      4: GEQ CH2 out to Amp 2 Ch2 input then CH2 out to R monitor input ( if Monitors are active then GEQ CH2 out to input on R monitor).
      If you want to put the GEQ on your final mix Stereo L & R , then same signal flow applies , it just from mixer L & R output goes to GEQ CH1 & CH2 inputs.
      I hope Martin this helps in your setup , if you have any more questions then please do ask.

    • @AVMEVideos

      if two speakers are connected in parallel then ohms drops , if connected in series then ohms increases. The amp/s to be used should support the ohms of speakers in conjunction with the connection sound design .

    Do you recommend a DI box for an acoustic guitar going into the mixer? Particularly in a live band setting, where there are electric guitars/bass going through amps?

    • @AVMEVideos
      @AVMEVideos  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I recommend it 100 % , actually it's a must in Live & recording sound. Just a rule of thumb, If your acoustic guitar has no on board battery powered EQ & dynamics then use a active DI box , if it has then use a passive DI box.

      Electrovoice SX series speakers are great for vocals (speakers used in this video are SX series, probably SX300s)
      They are passive speakers and would require an amplifier that has at least 300 watts of output power at 8 Ohms in order to get full potential.
