    I just want to THANK YOU🙏for your well explained video! 👏😊 Thank you so much for taking the time to do such an in-depth demonstration along with your explanation. Many of the things I've been trying to learn prior to this video in the field of audio have become so clear now, especially when you began to turn up and down the audio levels. I look forward to seeing more of your videos! 😊

    Hi, Your video teaches me alot , learnt few things but still unable to use my dbx 234xs crossover properly , I need quick help from you , please reply me asap , here is my question
    I have dbx 234 xs crossover , sound craft 16 channel mixer, and 4 subwoofers , 4 mid speakers, 2 high speaker(hf's) and the amps to drive them.
    I cant produce best quality output with by using my active crossover, the crossover has 2 freq knobs one for low freq and other for mid freq, I can not make use to produce best output with that . Can you please make a video to demonistrate this or else any diagrams ?
    Please tell me how to connect 3 way stereo mode using dbx 234xs crossover for my setup.
    Right now I am using the following way without crossover
    1. Mixer L output to Mid speaker amp ch1 and then ch1 output to input of my second amp ch1 which is using for another mid speaker
    2. Mixer R output to Mid speaker amp ch2 and then ch2 output to input of my second amp ch2 which is using for another mid speaker
    From groups section of the mixer
    3. Mixer group1 to sub woofer amp ch1 and then ch1 output to input of my second amp ch1 which is using for another sub woofer
    4. Mixer group2 to sub woofer amp ch2 and then ch2 output to input of my second amp ch2 which is using for another sub woofer
    5. Mixer group3 to hf amp ch1
    6. Mixer group4 to hf amp ch2
    Please correct me If I am doing wrong.. also I hope you will explain how to connect stereo mode with dbx crossover and its front panel functionality.
    Thanks,

      +Benny B , EV ZLX -15p is the best choice you would ever make . For subs i would recommend the EV ELX118p . This pair of speakers and subs would sound amazing & will easily accommodate a small audience of up to 250 people. . As the technology as evolved over the years , you don't need rest of the gear as the DSP , AMP and active crossover are built into these speakers and subs ( with limited functionality at great price ). IF you are a new DJ , instead of investing in a dedicated DJ desk i would say opt out for something like allen and heath qu-32 or behringer X-32 audio desks . This way you will have a studio and live desk all under one hood. The behringer X-32 is amazing because it has MIDAS mic pre-amps built in. Stay away from other behringer equipment unless you are on budget .
      SO the summary is all you need is the following for what your requirement is and to be future proof.
      1: EV ZLX-15p > two speakers.
      2: EV ELX118p > two bass bins.
      3: Allen and heath QU-32 or Behringer X-32 desks( both are designed for studio and live environments so your are covered.)
      4: Once a master in your profession invest in a DJ desk either by Pioneer or DENON.
      hope this helps in your purchasing and decision making , if any further question then please feel free to ask.

    Great video, straight forward, and simple to follow! If i may question one thing... shouldn't your three amps be stacked according to use.. High freq. on top, mid freq. in middle, and low freq. at the bottom? Or is yours just racked this way due to the depth of the high freq. amplifier. I guess if it was racked at top, you would have problems getting to the terminals on the other two..

    • @AVMEVideos
      @AVMEVideos  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      HI , thanks for watching the video , amps can be stacked in any order as long they are routed correctly to the destined speakers for required frequencies . I just stacked them this way for demonstration knowledge purpose .

    hi, thanks for the video, its quite helpful but can i connect a 3way stereo with only 2 full range speakers and 2 subs only, without setting up the third small speaker. maybe using bi-wiring? please explain

    • @AVMEVideos
      @AVMEVideos  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      3 way stereo is like tri-amping , you would need a 3rd pair of speakers to be used as tweeters & a amp to drive them. Just stick with 2 way stereo option with your full range speakers and 2 subs and you would get good sound.

      Mixer L out to CH1 on dbx 234XL. Mixer R out to CH2 on dbx 234xl. On back of dbx 234xl make sure it's on stereo mode and x10 freq switch is off. From dbx High output from CH1 to 1st amp CH1 input then out to L side EV 215. dbx low output from CH1 to 2nd amp CH1 input then out to L side sub.. From dbx High outout from CH2 to 1st amp CH2 input then out to R side EV 215. dbx low output from CH2 to 2nd amp CH2 input then out to R side sub.Then on front of dbx crossover between 70 to 80Hz and adjust the high and low outputs level as required. Let me know how it goes.

      Iosia Pati , yes it's possible. just take a output from ch1 on crossover , connect to amp input ch1 , output to 1st speaker then from 1st speaker to 2bd. make sure ur amp supports the dropped impedance and added watts of 2nd speaker per channel. let me know how it goes.

    sir can you make a 2 way stereo set up,what is your low cut off in stereo 2 way?

    • @AVMEVideos
      @AVMEVideos  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      low cut off is a term used to cut off low frequencies ( usually 20Hz to 120Hz) in an audio signal chain usually referred to as HPF ( high pass filter ) not be confused LPF which is for cutting high frequencies ( usually 10kHz to 20kHz ) .

    Mid frequensi (L &R) connect ti input of the 2nd amp(L&R).

      RIGHT XLR output from your mixer goes to channel 2 XLR input on your amplifier.
      Channel 1 speakon output from your amp goes to speakon input on your LEFT speaker.

      with passive speakers you would need an amplifier in the audio signal chain . Instead of purchasing a crossover , just purchase a Powered guitar amplifier speaker . Something like this : amzn.to/3YLSwG2

      How many speakers in total you have ?

    • @AVMEVideos
      @AVMEVideos  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      if you have only one speaker with High and Low terminals then the setup is as follow.
      1: Configure the cx3400 run in stereo mode.
      2: Take high output from CH1 cx3400 and connect to CH1 on your amp then output from amp to high terminals +/- on your speaker.
      3: Take a low output from CH1 cx3400 and connect to CH2 on your amp then output from amp to low terminals +/- on your speaker.
      If you have a 2nd speaker . You would need a 2nd amp and the connections would a little different to run highs from one amp and lows from 2nd.

    great video. I just want to ask. if my amps have enough power. can i use 2 amps to split my highs, low mids and lows. by linking my 2 high frequency speakers and using high to channel one of my amp, linking my low mid speakers and using low mid to channel two of my amp, then connecting my low speakers to my second amp to both sides of the crossover as you demonstrated?

    • @AVMEVideos
      @AVMEVideos  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes you can , Do daisy chain your Highs to Ch1 on amp 1 then daisy chain your Mids to Ch2 on amp 1. Make sure you calculate the total Rms of your highs is less than your amp 1 RMS wattage on Ch1 and respectively for your mids for Ch2. Also by daisy chaining the resistance will be dropped so the total resistance (Ohms) of two speakers divide by 2 should be supported by your amp.

      Frequency response of B215XL is 55Hz to 20Khz so it produces all frequencies in that spectrum range so use it as high/mid speaker and use your subs to produce LF. The setup is really simple , just follow steps in this video th-cam.com/video/35ShkaBQQAI/w-d-xo.html.

      Peradin Sinaga Thanks for liking the videos. Its called ringing out the microphones with GEQ ( graphics EQ) during sound check by eliminating the frequencies causing the feedback, It is really necessary practice during multiple microphones setup in a live event because during the Event you don't want any feedback etc. Now a days almost all digital desk comes with built in GEQ but if you are using analogue desk then you have to use external GEQ . I will make a video and upload it soon .

    • @AVMEVideos

      No if you have three amps you can adjust volume of subs , mids and highs.

    • @Trpmanne
      @Trpmanne 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      AVME Videos OK I have 2 full range 3way tops in one amp and 2 subs in the 2nd amp. I was hoping to get individual level control of each on the mixer... I guess I'll need to individually control volume only though the amps themselves not the faders on mixer

    • @AVMEVideos
      @AVMEVideos  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Basically both , that is called gain structure . You don't want low , mid , high frequencies to be distorted or clipping. For the sake of the explanation let's say you have just one input of music play back output to main L/R bus via one fader. Put the fader to 0dB , Main L/R to 0dB , crossover to 0dB , output on your amps to 0dB. Now start adjusting the input gain of music playback channel till you see 0dB on the input Signal meter. Now you can control the signal going to the L/R bus via channel Fader ( how much you would like to send).
      If you have multiple inputs , outputs , crossovers and amps then the same formula applies , the amount of signal you want to output to different Mixes. Best way is to practice this during your setup to achieve the optimum sound. Notching a dB here or there on different devices would get you the desired sound.

    the 1st part-3 way mono... does that not make the subs stereo since they are connected to output one and two of the amp for subs?

    • @AVMEVideos
      @AVMEVideos  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      craig christison Yes Craig the signal flow for subs from active crossover outputs CH1& CH2 is stereo but the setup also falls in 3 way Mono region as there is no tweeter & mid speaker connected to channel 2 on the active crossover . With a tweeter and mid range speaker connected to channel 2 on active crossover then this setup is 3 way stereo and can also be called TRI-amping stereo mode.
      Ideally for better understanding of 3 way mono concept to the viewers i should have connected the 2nd sub to output speakon on 1st sub .But keep in mind that would have dropped the input impedance of the subs and increases the RMS Wattage in total for two subs . So the viewers who want to do the 3 way mono with 2 subs by using this signal flow method then please make sure to calculate the impedance and RMS wattage of the subs & then make sure the amplifier to be used supports the required impedance and wattage .
      Thanks for raising a Valid and genuine point.

    Good video I have just bought this x over and going to run it 3 way stereo. I have 18 bins for low and for mid Martin bins with 2 10inch drivers. Then for tips ev also am adding logic 12s to the top in bigger place am worried about the bass lows cancelling the mids. Is there a delay on the x over so they since cancel each other out . It will be playing dance music so need a lot of mid kick . What best seetings for this on the cx3400 pro. So the mid and bass don't cancel each other out. Thanks ps when I get it more money will get a dbx drive rack.

    • @AVMEVideos
      @AVMEVideos  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There is time delay for phase alignment between drivers in CX3400. Best settings depends on the frequency response of your main bass bins , mids and tops. Setup as shown in the video and play dance music then start benching in the crossover points and delay times to see at what point you get the best dance music output with your setup. The settings shown in the video are guidelines or starting point.

    • @djbrad1000
      @djbrad1000 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      thanks for the reply so if they do cancel just adjust the Daley times a bit? and also x over points for best sound what points would you cross over at between the mid and tops ? also would you bye a graphic eg? cos will be running the decks through my Angelou sound desk.

    • @AVMEVideos
      @AVMEVideos  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      xover starting point between Bass bins and Mids should be 50Hz to 80Hz ( sweet point is 70Hz to 80Hz) , lower than 50Hz is felt rather than heard and not many bass bins have frequency response lower than 50Hz. X over between mids and tops ( proper standalone tweeters ) should be 4kHz to 6kHz. Playback the music and start tweaking as you would listen to music in a club , concert , add delay to tune if required. GEQ wouldn't harm and tweaking the signal via it can give more clarity to your output but bare in mind the bandwidth is 1/3 of the octave so tweaking one frequency will have effect on neighboring frequencies .Best is to put this in practical and start tweaking you gear at different settings till you find the sweet spot of all settings. Best tool during tweaking process should be your ears not the gear.

    • @djbrad1000
      @djbrad1000 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      yeah i understand and think my 18s can go down to 30hz so i try them at that also i got the amp se on 30hz for the bass bins ...and for the mids kick i do what you side 70hx or 80 what ever sounds better my cick is martine ccs300 with 2 x 10s in each cab. 400rms ported so should sound good as mids ??

    • @jacobhn2
      @jacobhn2 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      you do not necessarily need an extra crosover filter, your speakers have the built-in filter. set up your system and play a song you know , let equlaizer be neutral on the mixer , adjust now filtered and the volume of the loudspeaker and subwofferen for the beste sound and now you're ready to turn up the volume on the mixer and adjust equlaizer. :)

    • @AVMEVideos
      @AVMEVideos  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +jacobhn2 ,For pro audio to distribute the signal properly to the relevant drivers you would need a active crossover. EQ processes the overall signal by adding cut or boost to selected frequencies. Active crossovers are used to set up a crossover frequency point where the frequencies are then forwarded to the destined low/mid/high drivers. The built in passive crossovers inside most speakers do a good job but you cant select a crossover point as it is pre configured .The built in active crossovers in most active speakers is limited to 80 , 100 and 120Hz so again depending on the application there would be need for external active crossover.

    • @jacobhn2
      @jacobhn2 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      You're right. I was wondering if digital filters have phase shift as pasive filters at the crossover frequency or some like that.
