Thank GOSH for making this, I’ve got a weird software for my vinyl cutter where you have to have the outlines done in illustrator before you even send it to the second software, so WHY DO I HAVE THE SOFTWARE!? It can’t even make its own outlines -.-
Well, going to have to get myself Adobe Illustrator now. Just got myself a nice Gerber vinyl cutter that runs off Windows 3.1 and it can import .ai files, so I reckon it should work 👌
finally found a video for my problem. as for shapes, is it possible to add outline on to a shape. basically i have a circle within a circle, but the inner circle is not getting any 'outline'. tried the object>path>outline stroke but it didn't work

I've been using AI to make clipart for Etsy and Teachers Pay Teachers for about a year now and want to start adding cut files and logo design to my services, and I'm pretty much self taught through TH-cam tutorials. It would be great to have an expert to ask about things!
Excellent video for a beginner like me but I have a question? I was told my logo may be stacked is the reason my cutter is cutting doulble on each cut it makes. How can I delete a dupllicate layer in illustrator???
I kmow this vid is a few years old now but would this process work for the dreaded Artcut 2009? I have a cutter on the way and it has this program which is not an optimal program from all the bad things I hear. Thanks for this.
@@Hey_itsJDog Ya I'm not sure yet but I nknow it came with what has been described as horrible artcut, I do also have cs5 I could try. Waiting for inkcut to come out as it will be the only open source free cutting software out there but they're still working on it for windows. They have a linux version but not what I use. Yes you explain everything but one big question where do you cut how do you start it to cut you did what everybody else did. but you did a little bit more yes at the end of the video you didn't show people where is the cut button and how do you start it to cut which button do you press lol

@@leebangz Inkscape does not cut files you would need Inkcut (limited support cutter drivers) and python, limited support cutter drivers. I am using a Vinylmaster cut that came with my Titan 3 just as a cutter interface. VM Cut is limited and i dont want to learn another software no matter how simplistic!
I thought about this too but I think it needs to have the cutting points built-in for the program to know where its cutting so it wouldn't work with png maybe?

Any vinyl cutters you recommend. I do a lot of work in illustrator and I was to cut vinyl but no idea what is a decent cheap cutter. Any advice?

go into your layers, and delete the extra layer you don't want. Just drag it to the garbage can:) Hope that helps!:)

Why not just export it as a PNG file?
