100% with you on this, ZOHD need to bring a new version out but same model with a few updates, i had one for LOS flying and it was ace, would have another in a flash
Absolutely Yes! I'm an absolute enthusiast of ZOHD Dart! If it is re-released, I hope the motor mount will be strengthened so that it can be equipped with a strong motor. My dart v2 has been modified quite a lot, achieved 260km/h(160mph) at level run, 6S 1400mAh battery with 2507/2200Kv motor and 5 inch prop.
I bought one second hand years ago. Love this small, agile, efficient plane without bad habits. Agree with your stars ratings. I had to repair the motor mount a few times, landing and prop issues. Removed the nose weights and saved enough grams to add an extra 18650 cell, keeping same CG. Stock motor on 4S18650 or 3S18650 with a Runcam Thumb Pro on top of the nose. I still fly this analog for nostalgic reasons. Walksnail maybe later, when available from a crashed plane? My Walksnail Dart250 is more fragile and doesn't like wind that much, it's also fun to fly, but different.
I have the dart 250 g set up with crossfire and I’ve been probably about 3 kilometres and still been able to get back without any problems. It’s a great little plane and I wouldn’t be surprised that the original was a great plane too.
What a great little wing, thanks for sharing your thoughts and experience with it. I’m pretty new to wings and sure wish this was available still, especially with an update to fit an HD system. It would be so perfect for taking on hikes. Here’s hoping for an update that doesn’t take away from the features that made it so good 🤞
I still love my Dart. I have a Walksnail unit it put in mine as well. Interesting that you put it all in the nose. Much extra cutting required and can you still get access to the USB connector for firmware updates and getting footage off ok? Aha - just noticed the Thingiverse link, so I'll take a look!
Some great features in this design that should be incorporated into upcoming designs. The stable lower speed performance, the no-faseners assembly, and decent efficiency. The fuselage is a bit dated, having a similar look to the orginal Sonicmodell AR wing. An update with similar blending of curse like with the AR Wing Pro edition over the fuselage would give it a bit of stealth plane feel. A more modern nose to accommodate HD video, with cooling for VTX. This from the time before rules encouraged sub-250g AUW, but the reality is planes need to be a bit bigger to fly well with a bit of wind. Ideally in 800-900 mm wingspan category. Any larger and transporting/shipping become more a hassle. Unfortunately I missed the opportunity to purchase/fly this original classic Sonicmodell Dart. Flying qualities remind me of Zeta Z-84, another similar sized flying wing. Big enough for fun in most conditions, but small enough to easily transport almost anywhere.
Hi Lee, Great video and review of the Dart. I have been thinking about getting the 250 Dart and using the 3ch Radiomaster receiver and a analog system. Thanks again for the revisiting on the Dart.
I still have mine. Set up with a Matek F411-SE, a Walksnail 1S (OSD on softserial!) crossfire rx and a generic M8N GPS module. Still running the stock motor and original servos. Battery is generally a 3S 2600 made up of some old 18650 cells. I flew it last weekend... one of the vertical fins blew off in flight and was lost. Post-inspection revealed that the magnet holding the winglet to the fuse was missing... the glue must have dried out and let go. I never noticed it until I was packing up for the day. Lol
Take my money!!! The Dart V1 looks like the product of aero engineering, V2 looks like something out of Star Wars. Maybe something that can squeak under the 250g bar
your 5 star rating system of how the plane handles is the reason i bought the dolphin and regretting my heewing f01. the f01 or the reaper 690 really is just for fast flying, anywhere slow, it would fall out of the sky. but i wanted something that kinda do both. i don't have a huge flying field, so this having good slow speed characteristics is really interesting to me.
Hey Lee, I was thinking... It shouldn't be difficult to build something like that out of foam board... It probably wouldn't be easily disassembled like that, but... It's a too good of a model to let it go! There's a new guy taking care of experimental airlines, his name is Nathan... I'm going to try to talk to him! Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
I agree, very easy to build, fly and carry. I have my in mint box condition, recently built and have had 2 flights. Now I don't wanna fly it anymore as I cant get spares for it.
Nah the Atomrc Dolphin completely replaces this and is better in almost every way. Zohd should make a twin tractor with landing gear to shake up the line up of fpv plane kits
@@dronepilot260rc can confirm. The Strix Goblin is a better airframe hands down than the Dolphin. Just a bit tight to get the electronics installed though
Guys, do you know of another mini wing that is capable of slow to decent speeds, is very stable, flies for 20 mins or more and great for FPV while still fitting in a 20L daysack backpack? I never tried the goblin, but would that fit the bill?

Just lost my Dart 250, really liked it, but I would buy one of these in a heartbeat!!!

Thanks Lee ! Feels good to hear that a "seasoned" plane is still one of the Good ones. Hope they do a 4s sequel with some refinements..I'd buy one....
May ZOHD wise up and listen to your recommendations.
Thank you for lobbying for it.

Ojalá ZOHD lo sacase otra vez, que tomen nota, lo bueno debe perdurar!
I would love this original Dart and the Zohd Orbit lol both models I never had a chance to fly haha 😅
Would get an updated ZOHD Dart straight away 👍 This is the perfect size wing for me.

Great to hear that the 5 star system is helping you find models that fit your needs... Happy flying
LOL mine still somewhere in the attic but still love it.

lol still a big fan of the orbit
Also if Zohd is watching. Could you make a 1.2M Nano Talon Evo 🎉
So, when does the new one come out?
When (and if) it does, I will have one in to try. Happy flying!
Why not the Dart 250G? Its still sold.
Too small, fragile and limited for my tastes.... Happy flying!
you still using X9d Plus sir ? Is that better than Tx 16s ?
I still love mine. I wish RadioMaster would do a radio in the same size... Happy flying
Does anyone fly with the Nano Talon too?

@@Painless360 Nano Goblin fits that bill. It has several long distance (30km+) and endurance records (120min+)
Interesting, I wasn't aware it broke down to fit in a small backpack. Happy flying!
