We are so gifted as an audience to experience John Williams' immense talent as a composer. His work has touched me personally, especially his theme for Jurassic Park. His music will live on forever.
We won’t see another partnership like this in film ever again. And now that John is retiring from film work there will be an immense void left in the world of film music. Thank you for all you have given us over the years! We are not worthy.

He’s had such a varied career and has composed in just about every style there is, even if that is orchestra focused there’s plenty he’s done that isn’t exclusively for the orchestra. Sure Ludwig is a phenomenal modern producer. But that doesn’t necessarily make him more well rounded. It just means he has different sound. It also just means we’re seeing new trends in film music emerge. But I’d even argue that the films of his you mentioned are as really pretty similar. They’re orchestral based, using the same harmonic foundations, with some hip-hop styled production on top. And in the case of BP and Mando there’s also the element of world instrumentation. So are they that different? Granted Tenet is quite unique and certainly some his best work in my opinion. I think if you were to pick a selection of Williams’ work you’d find just as much variation as Ludwig. There’s also the fact that Williams has pretty much single-handedly transformed the film music industry more than any other film composer in history. No one has had a bigger impact on this world than him. Which is why now one will ever come close. Because of the way the industry is heading that’s why I say we won’t see another like him. Nor another partnership like Williams/Spielberg. John Williams’ music not only supports every second of every frame perfectly but as well, it almost always transcends the film itself.
God, it makes me sad to know that their collaboration has now ended, and John Williams will retire with Indy and the Dial of Destiny. It just feels like we've come to the end of an era that can never be replaced.
He hasn't "retired" per se - I think John Williams just wants to focus on live performances and touring now. He is 90 years-old (and does not look it!) and many musicians and composers love being on stage, so perhaps that's how he wants to spend the rest of his life whilst he can comfortably travel and be able to stay on his feet for whole performances.
You'll be happy to know he just said he's not actually retiring! He and Spielberg had a talk event celebrating their 50 years of collaboration and he even surprised Spielberg by saying he's not done!
True... I recall him "retiring" from film scoring after the 1-2 punch of Schindler's List & Jurassic Park (1993). I remember a more recent time he said he would focus solely on concert work after Star Wars 3: ROTS, War of the World's, Memoirs of a Geisha, & Munich (all 2005). So, as they say, we'll see what happens...
This is what cinematic film should always be. This is what film scores should always strive to be. Pure artistry. John Williams is absolutely brilliant and the world will never see another like him.
Best collaboration in film history. Hands down. Whenever I hear John Williams’ score to various films, I’m taken back to when I was kid watching all these films. Both of them are my heroes and have brought me so much happiness with their work ❤️❤️❤️

There've been other long term partnerships between directors & composers such as Robert Zemeckis & Alan Silvestri or Tim Burton & Danny Elfman, but this is definitely the most iconic.

I doubt either of them will ever read this...But I will NEVER forget a concert that Mr. Williams did in San Francisco, which highlighted his collaboration with Mr. Spielberg. Their synergy...their friendship...their love for one another was so apparent. And when Steven just sat, quietly, off to one side of the stage as the SF Orchestra played the theme from Schindler's List and wept...wept! I cried with him.I had never cried harder at something that wasn't a funeral. To see such emotion, and vulnerability from 2 men whose art has touched my life in some extraordinary ways was such a gift. I hope they understand that...because I am so grateful for both of them, and their work. Thank you, Gentlemen.

There’s no question in my mind. For George, and Steven Spielberg the single biggest collaborator that they have is John. George and Steven Spielberg always has the idea of what the music is going to do. Music is the complete and utter support system for the way in which he tells his stories. Because there’s never any issue, “Is this gonna work?” with John. You always know it’s gonna work, and you know it’s gonna work beyond anything you ever expected. There’s no doubt George and Steven Spielberg have the greatest respect for John and the L.S.O. It’s been the most wonderful collaboration and partnership in film history I think in terms of the set of the Star Wars Saga.
John Williams is amazing!! I think the one thing all these Marvel movies are lacking are awesome themes. There are themes in there, but nothing the average person remembers. Nothing that pops out like superman theme, indiana jones, the force theme etc... Love his music.
A beautiful and educational movie and a perfect collaboration in movie and music history! Hearing his Raiders March (probably slower) in the upcoming Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (which will be Williams' final musical score) will become a tearjerker. So, I'm grateful for Spielberg's movies and John Williams's music. Even though I like to rearrange music to make it sound better for fun and i like to do animation, it really does inspire me to do anything. And I'm very thankful for those 2!

What an iconic duo. Jurassic Park remains to this day my favorite film score. It was one of the first films I saw in theaters & even at 4 years of age the score struck a chord in me & I hummed the theme all the time. Thank you both for your contributions.
John Williams is the most best and absolute composer of all time amongs the living legends in the last and present century. His music moves people in ways that no one can even imagine. Listening to his music solves a lot of problems in our lives especialy when we are living through difficult times in our lives , his music helps us passing through it as we clear our minds and closes our eyes, everything fades away at that moment when whatever soundtrack your playing, at that specific moment, your problem goes away sensely for an amount of time and relieved and comfort that at the end of it, it gives you hope. His music always took us away from reality into a dreamland as we listened. There will be no one like him or take his place when he will pass away.
As a musician, all I ever dreamed of was to score films. I wanted to go to Boston to study with John Williams after graduating from College. Well, for a poor kid from the south Bronx in Ny, that wasn't about to happen. But I listened to every score and studied what he did.
Fun fact: The only 5 movies directed by Steven Spielberg that weren't composed by John Williams are Duel (1971), The Color Purple (1985), Bridge of Spies (2015), Ready Player One (2018) and West Side Story (2021)
