What helps me write is the detailed approach. Let’s say the subject is an apple. Verse one can strictly be about the stem, verse 2 the skin and verse 3 the core. Now you have a full song because you stuck to each detail of an apple. This technique keeps you from veering away from the topic. I find the studio the worst place to write lyrics because of how closed in it feels. I get my inspiration from just being outside doing everyday things. Once I’ve finished my lyrics, then I go to the studio to only record. The studio is not the place to be thinking about what you want to write. Use your studio $ wisely!
Em and Kendrick are two of my favourite emcees. They both inspire me in different ways. I want to make music as good as theirs one day. I’m a rapper too, but I’m not very good yet.
Never say that. You putting yourself down. Anything you do is magnificent. I put myself down for so long and never thought I was good enough. Now I write songs without a problem, because I taught myself to believe!! It you make yourself believe you can’t do something, you’ll spend the rest of your life believing it’s true when it’s not. PUSH YOURSELF, even when your own brain won’t believe in you. You got this!
I started off writing my lyrics in a notebook but switched to my phone since it’s easier to erase/tweek lyrics. Plus it’s easier for me to look at when I’m at work or anywhere I wouldn’t take my notebook to

I appreciate it drew. I’m a rapper that’s been dragging this shit out way to long and I recently started incorporating these don’t leave until it’s done sessions. It’s hard but I’m lovin the finished product
(Sry for text wall) So I’ve been rapping since I was 16 (22 now) and when I started I was pretty much strictly writing because I didn’t really know what I was doing I just knew you had to write something to rap if you can’t go off the top. Over time you get comfortable and some may get more comfortable than others and find the flow/style that really works for them while at the same time having that experimental mindset like said in this video , it will give you that versatility to rap in different voices ,styles , genres even. Now after making hundreds of songs I just hear a beat and every time I can just go off the top and destroy that shit . It’s taken years of dedication but I noticed it’s just like acting in a sense , you can’t tell a good actor is acting really because he’s playing the character so well. If you play the character of yourself better and better every time you make a song it’s just like having a conversation you don’t necessarily have to try so much like em said the rhyming gets easier but rapping gets harder. The actual technical ability to rap is much more difficult imo than writing good bars, that’s the thing that you just have to practice over and over again until it becomes fluent and like muscle memory . To sum it up , it’ll get easier but don’t think you can just ride the same flow every song and expect to get better that way, same goes with lyrics you gotta push yourself to write story’s , stupid shit sometimes for fun, good metaphors , double entendres, alliteration , all of that stuff is needed if you really want to be taken seriously but don’t forget to have fun. it seems like it won’t be but if you really love music the work never feels like work
Lmao im the typa person who talks too much people get annoyed. I used to Watch how to rap videos and smart rapper kinda religiously when I was younger, tbh TH-cam and the great teachers on here have really been the biggest help to me throughout my time rapping I could not recommend enough just to hop on Yt if you want to learn anything
This video basically serves as a reminder to those who already do these things since nobody would ever pick up these habits unless they loved writing to begin with.
I've always been a writer being that It was poetry that got me rapping on a personal level. It's still a thought process involved as I write what I'm thinking but never been a from off the brain rapper to its definition. I got a lot of practice to be a freestyle rapper. I started off with paper as many have but I use the song keeper app.
Great video, my take away is that anyone can honestly learn how to write music , they just gotta be in touch with themselves in one way or another to know what they want put out or say to the world. Maybe it’s different for you than it is for me . Just gotta find a process that suits you even if it has to come through trial and error
notebook and phone. I've written in my head before but I feel like that way takes me longer to "write" and come up with the lyrics since I'm trying to memorize simultaneously
It's depends on the vibe I'm in I can definitely think of bars off the top of my head like Wayne and Jay z I have a extremely good memory but I do have a notebook of bars as well I like the artistic aspect of writing bars the only time I write if I wanna write a conceptual record with details but I just rather let my mind be free flow from my subconscious mind and memory
Here's something I came up with... Tower of Babel and an apple; wisdom bedazzled// Like Heaven untraveled, that's your life for an example// So if you want to battle, you'll have to go through an eye of a needle with a camel; the dragon that chya cant handle, your left behind and dismantled, going upstream without a paddle, life sucks; you have no dick for a girl to straddle, your nothing but dirt and gravel to trample upon as the world travels// My grace is sufficient,// wish you weren't so fragile, you're bound by sin and shackled on the pedestal in the chapel, nothing but a pharisee to tackle// I'm the Holy of Holies in this tabernacle, trapping souls in little gel capsules, to shine on my mantle, you can never put the flame out on this candle, Messianic ramble, slaughtering of lambs to be raffled// lyrical blades, ancient of days, blank kicks like Guile to the brain donkey kong country where you go insane, and I play you like a video game, gotta to be born again to step to my fame, treat you with the mark of Cain for saying your hard in the paint to the public domain such an antichrist when your rap'pin in vain, I could go on and on for days and days putting you to shame now the ball in your court for the rap game Writer Ryan K Pendley
Another great way is whatever is most comfortable to you, meaning once you set a limit. That's death to a bunch of ideas. Study everything, acting, writing books, scripts, kobe bryant.
I mostly get the ideas and bars when I'm on toilet seat or in bathroom. I always run towards my phone or notebook or anything where I can write it down before I forget it or the idea is gone. Doesn't matter if my hands are wet or I'm naked.
Can y’all tell me how this sounds Niggas like to play so i told them I got it I was running your favorite rappers pockets Now we at the top and we ain’t tryna stop it I just found 100 dollars in my pocket This got me feeling like a rocket This for my ladies out in the projects We made 100 grams in the projects We started running ems and firing poppets Now we got coppers out tryna find us We was ditching school and doing projects Niggas was being flam so we hoped in the cockpit I got skinny bitches flying in my cockpit We took a trip to go and see the rockets We left to go and see him lock it He was being a bitch so we had to pop him Niggas was snitching so we had to rock them
when I write in the uninterrupted writing session, do I need to finish the whole song by then or no ?, if not then what's the goal by the end of the hour ?

Competition’s getting higher I’m in too ._.

I can sit down and write and if I do it’s on the phone or computer and write.
But most of my songs are Freestyle, for the past 18 years.
Still experimenting, right now I use a phone but once I really get into the stu on da regular I might try to think it out
From the very beginning this is very relatable.
I may not be able to stand Em's voice but, he always makes sure to give it up to the artists that have influenced him.
Write on my Phone, Book and in the booth
I usually Think my lyrics and recite on the mic, but i started off as a writer and slowly getting back into writitng
