    I actually lived in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia in the early 1980's- literally across from the airport, in a little German compound. My father worked in the computer department of a US construction company. It was really an awesome experience, and of course we flew in to and out of King Abdulaziz International all the time. Every time I watch a TH-camr fly in and out of Jeddah, I get a little touch of nostalgia and deja vu.

    Hi Mr.Noel,
    I am from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and I’m really happy that you came to Jeddah!!!
    I wanted to tell you that the new terminal in Jeddah airport has opened and it’s amazing according to the rubbish old one, you really have to come and see it! It’s super cool and has a aquarium inside
    Sam Chui actually filmed it, you can see the video
    I went to it about 3 months ago when I was flying a domestic flight from Jeddah to Abha and back
    It was an amazing experience
    And the new Saudi Airlines Al Fursan lounge is really better than the old one that you visited
    I wish you had fun in your visit here in Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦
    And I have a (FACT) that it’s Arabic coffee not Arabic tea 🤗❤️ just corrected
    I Undoubtedly gave it a huge like 👍❤️
    Thanks for filming this iconic review and bye bye 👋
    Stay safe
    Greetings from Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦☺️😊🤗❤️👍😂

    ** NOEL ** - Top Camera tip (from a pro) - when you encounter indoor LED lighting that rolls and flickers, switch the camera from PAL (UK electric frequency 50Hz) to NTSC (USA 60Hz Mains Electric) and alter the frame rate to UK 50 frames per second and shutter of 1/100th second, and USA 60 frames per second and 1/120th second shutter. This matches up the camera sensor refresh rate to that of the local electric frequency and stops the flickers. ;)

    • @DerbJd
      @DerbJd 4 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      If you don’t have that much control or are using your iPhone, download FilmicPro app which is a doddle to use and gives every option under the sun. Still stuck? Flick between PAL and NTSC and experiment.

    • @DerbJd
      @DerbJd 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Pingu 86 possibly but a 1/12th shutter would increase motion blur in camera pans.

      Oh Yeah, I flew with Saudia back in December 1999, for a religious trip. From LHR to JED. And that time the food was very good, but they had the old airbus A330-200 which needed renovating and the cabin crew could have been more attentive and personable considering I was flying Business class. However, I flew Etihad's business class in April 2011 from NRT to AUH and they were utter SHIT. The food was AWFUL. They just reheated everything and the taste was terrible, unfortunately I had the mezze and the next day I had diarrhea Thanks Etihad! And they were flying the old A330-300 which were uncomfortable and the IFE didn't even work. The flight attendants were extremely rude and unprofessional. One female flight attendant was yelling at an Arabic lady for going to the toilet during turbulence. That pious 50 years old lady didn't even speak English. So, well done Etihad for being the WORST airline in the world. Yelling at a passenger in a language which she didn't even understand! So, all Etihad needs to do now is have a few drunks flight attendants and pilots like Japan airlines and Virgin Atlantic and they will officially be the Worst airline the world!

    I have been using Saudia the past two years the get to Skyteam gold with their amazing fares. I flew several of their aircraft in their fleet (A320 A330 B777-300 B777-300ER and 787) their service is developing so well (unlike my grammar in this comment) and I have started to look for a good Saudia fare whenever I want to go Asia. I really hope the new Jeddah terminal will open soon because I have had 5 layovers there in that awfull lounge especially compared to the one in Riyadh. Btw I love your videos Noel because of you approach to reviewing products and mixing business and economy. Saudia is one of my favourite airlines in the world. The crew is nearly always patient, all smiles, helpfull and friemdly. The planes are always clean and their planes are always new. Plus all planes are equiped with plenty entertainment system. Finally the food is in great proprortion but most importantly always delicious. Used to travel on it two times yealry out od Riyadh. But pre corona even treid them out of jeddah on a long haul to malaysia and it was just as good as it was before.
    I cannot wait when travel resumes again and international travel and borders open. Cannot wait and get back to travelling long haul.

    I'm guessing one reason Dubai Airport is so busy in the middle of the night is because that's when a lot of the airport's flights leave or prepare to leave (for very early morning departures). Given how hot Dubai gets during the day, especially in the summer, I imagine most flights are timed to leave and arrive during the relatively cooler hours of the night and early morning.

    There is a new terminal or we can say new airport in Jeddah, each quarter of 2020 the whole airlines will move to the new terminal (you can see it in TH-cam) it is really amazing (I think it will be from the top 10 world wide really soon). I hope that you will visit Jeddah and Riyadh (the capital) , you are welcome to Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦🙏🏻 any time.

    Recently filmed a Documentary in Saudi. Our American colleagues flew in from New York and were pleasantly surprised by the product. I then had the chance to fly from Jeddah to Riyadh on the 777 eco... Seat was comfy with good legroom. Leather Like material like the old BA regional flights. In seat entertainment and headphones provided to each passenger for such a short trip. I was also surprised by how well they did in getting the full flight boarded and in the air quickly. The flight from Riyadh back to Dubai was also nice. It was on an Airbus A320 and the seat type and consistency of service was good. By the end of the trip we were all surprised at the airline and would happily fly it back to KSA in future. For the longer flights I may consider other carriers because they fly direct from Dubai, but a solid option for those living in KSA for sure.

    Noel your videos open up so many different options for me as when choosing a long haul flight with connections if I see Saudi airlines I automatically run for the hills as I’m not keen on a stop or connection in “Jedda” but with that scenery and service you definitely are winning me over, after a recent flight to the Philippines I opted for “Cathay Pacific” via Hong-Kong I kinda wish I was braver and went “Oman air” via muscat I heard there business class is super reasonable. If you could some how review that flight, id gladly buy you a beer ;) As I’ve never flown anything more than economy it’s a affordable start for me

      Lol calm down there satan. To be fair when you're flying as often as Noel is, you probably don't want to be continually flying economy. Economy is great for most of us who maybe have a holiday or two per year, and it's why aviation is now relatively cheap and more accessible, but it isn't for the traveller who takes several long flights a week I'd say.

  • @binky_bun
    @binky_bun 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Hello Noel those lights flickering on the video are are really annoying. I notice you're shooting at 24 frames per second. If you can change your frame rate to 25 frames per second in countries with a 50Hz power grid frequency that won't happen outside of North America where their grid frequency is 60Hz so ideally you'd want to shoot at 30 frames per second in the north America.

    • @ClaireMcHardy
      @ClaireMcHardy 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Very good advice. He could also just switch his shutter speed to counteract the issue. From 1/60 to 1/50. Sometimes with the new and cheaper energy saving lights there is nothing you can do.

    • @binky_bun
      @binky_bun 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ClaireMcHardy yep for 50Hz you really need to shoot with frame rate of 25FPS and shutter speeds in multiples of 50. That said I think the power on aircraft is 400Hz but since that's still a multiple of 50 it shouldn't be an issue.

    • @ClaireMcHardy
      @ClaireMcHardy 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The other thing that is tough these days is the RGB lighting on the aircraft. Can produce some pretty crazy results with the camera sensor. Looks good for the human eye but can be wacky as hell on the camera.

    • @binky_bun
      @binky_bun 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ClaireMcHardy yeah that comes from pulse width modulating the LEDs off and on to control intensity. That also causes loads of radio frequency interference if not properly filtered. I'm a radio ham and the noise levels go through the roof when people cover their houses in twinkly LEDs at Christmas

  • @Lakesider52

    It's the intolerance of the dry airlines that's the issue Noel. A "wet" airline will be perfectly happy not to serve alcohol to a passenger just like a carnivore would be happy to serve a veggie/vegan meal so the tolerance should be replicated.

    • @654jimbob654
      @654jimbob654 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It may be a legal issue, since many of the dry airlines are based in dry countries. Personally, I think all airlines should be dry because that's better than dealing with drunken troublemakers in an enclosed space.
