I just welded the taller version to my diamondplate flatbed. Was way easier than trying to fit the mounting plates between the frame rails. Hopefully it holds up its pretty stout. Just gonna use it to lift a plate tamper and fuel tank, whatever else. Its probably not OSHA approved, but i work for myself, by myself and thats why i bought it to begin with.
You need a thicker and larger base plate. I'm using 3/8" steel, and extending it out a lot further. 300 lbs at 4 ft distance is the putting thousands of lbs of torque on that 6" wide base plate.
If you read the manual carefully it says be sure and mount it to the bed frame not the truck frame. There are support members under the bed they are calling the bed frame.
this was the onley place in my truck bed that would make it useful and out of the way enough, so for my purposes i had to modify it. you may be able to use it without modifying it in whatever truck you have.
