Today we go through building and installing a LiFePO4 battery as a drop-in replacement for any Razor electric vehicle. The battery made is 24v, but 36v just requires 4 extra cells and a 12s BMS rather than 8s.

What an awesome uncle! You made it look so easy, thanks for sharing the build.
That's a great video. It looks like you made your niece very happy. That makes it worth the work. Cute baby too.
Thanks for the inspiration for getting into custom batteries
INCREDIBLE! but for those of us who are not electrical engineers or Nikola Tesla types (or like me, cant figure how to use a multimeter), could you give detailed instructions on how to do this build? I would happily pay you for it
🔥 as always my brotha
I'm wanting to build a 12s version of this for my scooter. would it be possible to shoot me a link to the bms and plastic cell holders you used?? I can't seem to find those. I found the cells but I'm worried I'll need to order 18 or so to make sure I get 12 good cells.
thanks
Can you remember the type of female port that you purchased and from where for the charger that you used? Thank you. Great Video.
The cells seem to be higher priced than I thought. Any cheaper options?
How has it held up? I just got a razor pocket mod and want to go Lithium Ion. Any suggestions?
Great Video - I'm going to try it but I'm an English lit major with a desk job. Can I ask a question. I'm confused about what happened with the charger port. If you ended up bypassing it what does the charger plug into? Is it the old one (female end) and then wired right to the BMS?
Gave you no issues when leaving out the circuit breaker?
I need some part numbers, the ali links don't work
HE's back at it!!!!💪Hey stop making me wanting to upgrade the battery in my electric moped 😆... serious question, what gauge of wire are you using to connect each of the cells to each other.
Do it! That one was 14 gauge since it was only pulling 7 amps. I’m using 8 gauge for the larger builds and some proper busbars
How do you charge it?
Hi stupid question here! ^^`
What made you go with those battery cells versus the 18650s?
Probably because of safety
I'm looking to get more range on my Chinese sport bike, it 5000w with 72v30ah battery. I get a good 20miles, What will I need to get to at least 60miles, 100 miles would be great.
Do you sell a pack made and for how much
Hi, if I put a lithium battery directly into my scooter and plug it in exactly into the original wiring, why can't I just use the original charger?
It’s a vary slightly different voltage, but it should be safe to do if you’re looking to simplify
My son has an E300 and I’m assuming it would be the same process. Why can’t you use the original 24v charger? Will it not charge a lithium battery? Thanks
Same process! The original charger is just a fraction of a volt different than the new batteries can handle, but as long as the original charger is lower voltage than the new charger would be it is safe to use. That should be the case, so totally fine!
Awesome! Thank you!
Do you sell battery packs?
How much total for build this battery brother?
Total was about 60 USD at the time, but some components may cost a bit more now
beau boulot L.C. !
Can i possibly purchase a made battery pack from you?
If you change the first timestamp to 0:00 in the video description, "chapters" will work. Cheers.
HEY Lord Curt 🖐
Are the 33140 Lifepo4 cells able to be spotwelded with Nickel strip ?
I noticed you also used them for E-motobike, another Great build by the way.
Are you happy - long term with these type of cells ? Im guessing they Capacity tested close their 15Ah rating ? 🤔
Only asking as I may buy a few for my own projects. They look promising & "SAFE" 👌👍
Sadly, they can’t be spot welded with nickel unless you get one that has nicker strips laser welded on top. Some listings come with those. These have copper terminals, so without something on top it doesn’t make enough heat to spot weld.
You get a few duds that self discharge, but if you voltage test them you can filter those out.
Capacity tested well! Long term they’ve been working out well also.
@@LordCurt cheers, yeah have noticed an option for pre-laser welded nickel strip's on both sides of these cells. They seem to have pretty good capacity vs their physical size, especially in Lifepo4 Chemistry hey. Thanks Kurt 👍
Does it make it faster?
How much cost a 72v 30ah battery with your work?
What motor and controller does it need to run and what size space does it need to fit in? That helps pick cells
@@LordCurt I am running 6000W motor and the controller rated voltage is 72/120a the space I have to measure.
@@leandromachado2854 cool, it looks like you’ll need a decently high discharge. Send me an email at cmcustomelectronics@gmail.com so I can reply with some options and what it might cost
@@LordCurt thank you
why you take test drive at night only?
Happened to be when I dropped it off for my niece and nephews, but they’ve ridden it plenty of times since
can you make me a pack for razor e300
Subbed
8 of those cell you recommended from the Ali link will set me back $155 + $191 shipping. Yikes, that's not cost effective.
Batteries are expensive
