- Several folks have talked with me about how to restore the factory patches on a KORG Trinity. I decided it was time to make a walkthrough of the process. Hope it helps - leave any questions you might have in the comments and I'll be glad to help!

Hey Matt! Thank you so much for your wonderful video. I just had a new battery put in mine. Lucky I had the disc with all the sounds. Fun thing was...I had a set of sounds in it from a friend Zon Piles. When reloading I discovered that the original bank B sounds were loaded over by some of his sounds. So , all these original bank B programs and Combi sounds were new to me! Wow! Thats was an awesome surprise! Mark Bensette Aux Bois 🇨🇦.

I had to do this on my Triton years ago had the same issues maybe a little different but I saved all my sounds to CD PRELOAD.PCG file from the included floppy disk it took some doing but I got it working again thankfully.

Hey Matt. I'm have problems finding out how to load sounds into sounds into Banks C And D from a floppy disc. Do you have a video for that? Thx a bunch. Mark Bensette Aux Bois 🇨🇦.
Hello. Unfortunately I don't have a video for that. If I'm correct banks C and D would be for the V3 version of the Trinity? There is a procedure for loading from floppy that's pretty simple. Do you have the floppy disks? If you do then I can help you get them loaded.

Works on the M1 too! And KORG actually provides the M1 sysex on their site 😃👍🏻

Hi Matt, thanks for the video. The floppy disk in my trinity has stopped working so I'm unable to load from disk, do you have the original sounds as syex at all please? I'm stuck with a silent workstation at the moment.

this video is greatly appreciated! Worked like a charm. one question I have is; once the restoration is done and I turn it off and on I am back to the generic piano again. How do I make sure the factory pre-sets are saved on the trinity once and for all?
Thanks for stopping by and glad it helped! If you’re being reset to the init patches when you power off you likely have a bad internal battery. If the battery is bad the patch data will not be retained when the power is switched off.
it indeed says battery low at start up! I'll look into replacing it.
just to make sure, so with a good battery it saves automatically?

Hello! Once I had the sysex file I just double clicked on it and it opened in the system librarian application. Hope that helps but let me know if you have any other questions!

Will this work if your CMOS/C2032 battery is low/dead? Do I need to replace the battery first?
Yes, that's a good point. It will work while the power is on but as soon as you shut it down you'll lose everything again if your battery is no good.
@@mwmusic29 I just replaced the battery. I am using Sysex Librarian to import the sysex file. The transfer completes with no errors but the synth hangs at the splash screen upon restart. Any help is appreciated! [Trinity Pro Version 2.2.0 w/ HDR-TRI]

I bought a Trinity that has a bank A & B, but they are only Combi patches. How do I get the other banks with the single instruments, or is this video the answer?
I would start with a factory restore. The combinations are made using the single patches so it seems strange that you don’t have the patches. Let me know if the restore fixes it. If not I’ll try to help you figure it out! :)

Hi there, very helpful video but I don't see where the Korg Trinity sysex file to restore to factory presets can be found. Is this demo just using an alternative set of sounds from a different developer? I really need to reset my trinity, it had to have the battery replaced and the floppy disk hasn't worked for years. Where may I find the original/factory patches sysex file?

@@mwmusic29 the website allow downloading the file with *.exe format.
@@drtolgaege I don’t understand the question. If you need software for a PC to use you can try MIDI Ox. Sysex files are .syx no matter which OS you use.
Thanks a lot. I have just downloaded syx data and sent to my trinity plus v2.1.4 however it is not responding after then. I had hard reset the unit. Do you have syx file for ver 2.1.4

Hi Matt, very informative video. I'm considering buying a preset pack for the Trinity. But the presets are .pcg files. Can I use the same method to transfer these files to the Trinity or does this only work for .sys files?
I don’t know for sure if you can send other file types with this method but I don’t think you can. Does the website you’re purchasing from have instructions? That would be a good place to check first. :)
@@dwarkanathpramanik8545 Yes if you can get some free files to try that would be a good idea. I’ve never used Trinitro because I’m on Mac but I understand it’s a very good program and that program may work well with pcg files. I’d love to know how it goes if you don’t mind telling me after you try it. :)

Hi, i have a question about .syx files.
I have a korg prophecy and a personal syx files i want to load to the keyboard. Can you explain how and a free software (as simple as possible). Plz thank s. Thank s fot this vidéo.
Hello! The process will be very similar to loading to the Trinity as I show in this video. The cable connections are the same. You just need to make sure you go into the Prophecy menu and set it up to allow incoming data. If you use Mac I recommend the Sysex Librarian app and if you use Windows then MIDIox is a great choice. They are both free apps. Hope this helps!

I use a usb-to-midi (in and out). So PC usb to keyboard midi in and Out. I have midiox soft. But i don t know how to configurate the prophecy for reciving data in the menu keyboard for incoming data. Do you know how to do that? Thank s from Switzerland.
@@mr.roboteliot7445 Take a look in the global menu. You should find a setting that mentions system exclusive data - make sure any of those settings are set to "allow" or if there is a protect feature make sure it's turned "off". Also, sometimes the USB to MIDI cables can cause problems so be aware of that as well. Good luck!!

The procedure will be very similar but the menu of the Triton will be slightly different. Let me know if you need any help! :)
What is the name of the Mac app you mentioned and where is it available?
It’s called Sysex Librarian and it’s available from a website called snoize. Just google sysex librarian Mac and it should be the first result.

It’s been a while since I installed the program but I think you’ll have to download it from the internet. Just Google sysex librarian macOS and I’m sure it will pop up for you. Let me know if you need any help!

Boa noite, tenho trinity ele possui botão combi e o prog, tem sons no prog 099 piano ele é mais baixo volume que os outros, e tem outros no combi uns sao um pouco mais alto que os outros, isto é normal da promoção dele , obrigado
Não tenho certeza se entendi sua pergunta, mas você deve ser capaz de ajustar o volume de um programa e salvá-lo. Isso também afetará qualquer combinação que use esse programa. Espero que ajude!
@@mwmusic29 o prog quase todo os sons são do mesmo volume. Só achei alguns mais baixo daí da pra aumentar o volume normalmente
No fone, a saída não é igual que na caixa , acho que no fone a placa de áudio é mais fraco?
@@jljuliomartins2614 Pode valer a pena tentar uma redefinição de fábrica do seu Trinity para ver se isso resolve o problema. Lembre-se de fazer backup de todos os dados que deseja salvar antes de tentar o procedimento.
@@mwmusic29 obrigado pelas dicas , utilizo uma caixa peavey, deixo o volume no 5 e no teclado na metade da barra do volume sai bem alto, acredito que não seja problema,

Thanks for the nice vedio. You have used midi input of the keyboard and the midi line of USB interface. My interface does not have a midi line. Can I use the USB port of midi. Q2, if the sysex has the windows version.
