oh my gosh the "wife, wh0re, mistress, maid, mother" sounds like "Wife wh0re mistress MADE mother" like they were made into a mother because of whats being done to them MY GOD THIS SONG IS EVERYTHING
I love the way this song FEELS like a horror movie. The whispery tone, the breathing and choking sounds, emulate the terror of a protagonist hiding from the monster, while the loud piano and the ever increasing tension of the melody never lets you stay at ease. Hell, “The doll people are alive” is a genuine jumpscare! The pace of the sound suddenly picks up, and the several voices give the line a supernatural aspect to it, mixed with the instruments we might hear when we see zombies crawl out of their grave in a movie. The imagery of the song itself is based on elements associated with horror : uncanny dolls and statues, rot with the maggots, even the sexual violence is a signature feature of horror. On top of giving the song a strong emotional identity, these parallels with horror help get across the point of the text through the form. It emulates the horror of being a woman in a world that is inherently against you: just like a horror film protagonist, you are a prey facing a seemingly unavoidable threat, you have to hide and be as quiet as possible if you want to survive. I feel like the trope of the final girl would be relevant here too, but I won’t expand on it. Interestingly, it also reflects the way our world (aka the men as a societal collective) see women: we become the horror movie threat. The uncanny nature of dolls, who look like humans but aren’t alive, becomes the cognitive dissonance of not seeing women as people yet being unable to ignore their humanity when it inevitably shows through. Just like the dolls, men become afraid of us- which leads to hostility, alienation, and further dehumanization to restore a coherent worldview. Of course there’s a lot more in the text, this is just a long ramble about how I love the vibe of the song and how it’s very good at getting its point across
Came back to write a personal comment that nobody asked for. This song really tied itself to my soul. I am trans FtM, and I transitioned in part because of the way that I saw the women in my life were treated. I was afraid to live a life as someone seen as lesser-than. It takes so much effort to exist as living art, and it is the most thankless job. From what I witnessed growing up, it looked like nothing women did was ever good enough to be seen as human. Like nothing women ever said sounded as good to men as it does coming from another man's mouth. And I never knew why. Young me thought that if I was a man, I would finally be safe. That I could treat women with respect by intimately understanding the struggle, while simultaneously being a voice that men would listen to. I strive for that every day. Because nobody should be silenced/reduced/dismissed/ignored/disrespected the way that women are all over the world every day
God this just exemplifies the feeling so well. You can be staring into a man's eyes, speaking his language, expressing your thoughts, engaging with his, and he will still think you are an inanimate object that thinks its alive. Its the most insane cognitive dissonance. They are speaking to a human but they just see a doll.

@fenec71__ when people say ''men'' or ''a man'' they dont mean ALL MEN!! no one ever said it was all men, it's just such a large amount that saying ''some men'' downplays the issue!
I think this is the rawest and most brutal way to describe SA or even just being a woman in general in a world where men look at us like we’re nothing and just a pretty face and body to use, that’s what I personally feel like this song is about and she hit the nail on the head. And my god… Sofia’s lyricism is hauntingly brilliant. I predict in 2-3 years, she’s gonna be big. And the most ironic part is that men STILL don’t get the meaning behind this song, even when it’s clear as day what she’s talking about. Edit: This comment section just proves my point.
Pretty sure those of us with a brain got it the first time we heard it. It's blatantly obvious and has little room for interpretation. But keep on doing the exact thing you complain that we do to you... categorizing us all as one being the same.
“A woman who doesn't want it is much hotter than one that does” is a chilling reflection of grape culture and the fetishization of female resistance. It suggests that a woman's lack of consent is eroticized, revealing a violent power dynamic where the woman's autonomy is stripped away for the sake of male desire. This song just SPEAKS 😢

One of my favorite parts of this song is "the doll people are quiet/what is there to say" this perfectly captures just a feeling as a woman. You want us to be dolls. Shut up and not talk much. We have to speak gently or softly or childlike. But then the raised voice after with "what is there to say" we can scream, cry, shout. We can speak sofly gently, or write it out. The tragedy of being a woman is that what you feel is enough is... ...to be beautiful enough to be one of the doll people ...be cool enough to be the one who does not want it And you aren't. What a smashing piece of art this song is. Sofia, I wish you all the success there is!
I wish artists like this got more recognition. Too many people don't want to pay attention to music like this because it makes them think. Every single one of her songs is so well written and produced, like damn. 😭
"they dont know what happened, they looked under our skirts one morning and all they saw were maggots" my heart shattered all over again. i feel so bad for victims of this type of abuse.
Every detail is so deliberate, every breath, every variation in dynamics, every word in the lyrics. Must have heard it 10 times in a row and it didn't fail to give me goosebumps once. And such a powerful message, too! I am so glad I found your work, my favorite find of the year.
I just realized that the reason she's not more popular is because its too hard to hear for some (especially the ones who see us as "paintings with legs")
I’m so confused why this is not more popular because this is a beautiful piece and oml I feel what she is saying and I can feel the music this is just awsome
Every once in a few years I find something that makes me NEED to make something. Like I need to go sculpt a grotesque piece of art. Thank you, you are encapsulating
Oh my god… this song is perfect. The way it emphasizes the silent moments just as much as the loud ones, and the way the lyrics draw out like quiet screams is just… I didn’t even realize I’d been holding my breath until the song is over. You are so talented, please keep making art, you’re definitely helping people with your song ❤️❤️❤️
I’ve probably listened to this song at least 20 times today. It’s mesmerizing. The small sounds, the power behind the voice, the instruments in the background… ethereal and haunting and full of energy.
"Our skin is clay and painted blue" gets me. Clay to be crafted into whatever they want. Painted blue with bruising from that process. "Our head can detatch" following it is just chilling. The constant reminder of the threat of violence and death. "Art does not interpret itself" suggesting the case that men define women. Women can not decide for themselves what they are or what they mean.. This song hits haaaard
The musical composition of these songs amazes me, stuns me, moves me. The poetry of the lyrics already makes my soul squirm and swim and cry. Unhinges my knees. But to use a classical background to make songs like this… I’m bewildered someone could be such a great poet and composer, that the lyrics and music feel like they birthed themselves from your soul as one.
I saw the short and this song has been stuck in my head for days. It's brilliant. I don't know how to describe what Sofia does with sound, but I love it.

This is so real. As somebody that has been treated inappropriately, been touched threatened and told i was rape bait atleast once by every guy in my life i identify with this song. I dont care if its not all men because everyone can take advantage depending on the situation.
Everything about the song is incredible. This is a unique song to experience and provokes so many thoughts and feelings, more so than a lot of music out there.
I knew from the moment you were promoting this that it was gonna be a masterpiece. As a musician myself, this is one of the most genius pieces ever written. It's so incredible.
Thank you for making this. I've met too many women who get dehumanized by the men they interact with, often within relationships and family. It makes my chest hurt hearing the ways they've been treated. It hits even harder hearing it from the women that i love like my girlfriend or my sisters
Wish I could hit the like button more than once for this, there really isn't enough time to explain all the things I find so compelling and perfect about this
I've been searching for some new music and I was just captivated by this song... It's insanely good! It's so raw and haunting, I FELT painful as if I've gone through anything like what you're singing about... Wow... Thank you so much for this art!
This song is absolutely amazing. The way it portrays sexual assault/rape into a song is a masterpiece. You rarely hear things like this and I personally love the piano and the chord progressions. The gasping and breath sounds add so much more emotion to it and desperation!!! The wife whore mistresses maid mother interpreted as “MADE” instead really showcases how for women to be seen as not great mothers because of their environment or to act like they have it all together and not make mistakes on their child without being a parent at ALL. (to add: Where the part where she says “fuck” It’s almost as if either the pain is so severe you can barely pay attention to it and just becomes second thought. Or that as much as you express it, nobody will hear or pay attention to you. So at the end of the song where the LOUD piano covering “fuck” is not present. It’s almost as if nobody is present to hear anymore. Or that the person just doesn’t see it as a real thing, almost a dissociative like state. As if now they don’t believe they are of importance anymore, hence the dehumanization). Yes this goes for planned and unplanned but also SA, as you NEVER asked for the child and yet responsibility holds you because of guilt, fear and/or shame. This really really encapsulates beautifully I believe the turmoil and the almost lack of hope at the end in themselves or others or even society to hear their voices as it gets quiet with the piano. I love songs where you can interpret things because it is what makes it more wildly relatable or enjoyed. saddest part in real world thing is that even when you explain it as brutally honest and straightforward to your partner, they just still dont understand. Or even want to hear your problems as if it’s like you don’t matter, your feelings are not important. Or they don’t want to admit their faults. And yet they still expect you to be compliant. ALSO, The fact that the song also states that some men see women as just seen as objects with the inconvenience with thoughts and feelings and the conscience of a pretty and warm body for them to project their issues and control and sexual desires on over really goes to show the struggle of a mother in an abusive relationship, whether forced or not forced to have the kid. You are essentially formed to be dehumanized while also to act like nothing is wrong. You are stuck with a responsibility to care for the kid and the father doesn’t make it easier, simply makes your life a living hell and taking control over you as you are stuck to pick up the pieces and be ridiculed for it as if you really had a choice to leave the father. It’s you either think what’s best for your sake and be called selfish or think what’s best for the kids sake and be considered as a mother who doesn’t take action and you and your sanity just depletes. And they don’t do all this because they don’t care or are too weak . But because reaching out for a hand while tied to chains can only be seen as seeking and looking for help ,but, help will only arrive if anyone pays attention or believes you aren’t doing it for attention, as sometimes doing things on your own just isn’t enough. we can look at this song and it’s why I love it so much. I dedicate this to mom 💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛 and as for me I just love the elements of this song and the vocals and chord progressions and dynamics of the piano!!!! And the ORCHESTRAAAAAA

What a smashing piece of art this song is. Sofia, I wish you all the success there is!
That was intense. Shes got pure talent & determination
"they looked under our skirts one morning but all they saw were maggots." And the line after that, I really felt that.
I’ve never seen art so alive before. This text touched me like a few ever did.
I'm glad I found a talented performer. +1 to the fan base.
I wish artists like this got more recognition. Too many people don't want to pay attention to music like this because it makes them think. Every single one of her songs is so well written and produced, like damn. 😭
This was a TH-cam recommendation I randomly clicked. I was not ready for this level of awesome.
"they dont know what happened, they looked under our skirts one morning and all they saw were maggots"
my heart shattered all over again. i feel so bad for victims of this type of abuse.
How is this not millions of views deep??? God I felt all the things this is so powerful
It has millions of views on other platforms!!! :)
America, what have you done?
What do you mean? (I’m not asking with intent to be rude, I am honestly curious).
I think what they mean is that this song is about how SA is common in America? I could be wrong

jesus this is INCREDIBLE why does it not have a billion views
I predict that your career is just beginning and will Flourish. With talent like this, how can it not?
The chorus scratches a musical itch in my brain. It’s just gorgeous
2:06 i loved the emotion in her voice
The transition to Major gives me goosebumps
on the word "does?" Yeah best part.
you are absolutely INCREDIBLE sofia, i adore you, your art will never fail to give me chills and amaze me
My soul feels understood when I listen to you. I feel soothed by the raw verities you sing.
Sylvia Plath would've been so proud of you
Every once in a few years I find something that makes me NEED to make something. Like I need to go sculpt a grotesque piece of art. Thank you, you are encapsulating
The lyricism and instrumental is just so...wow. ♡
Genuinely astounded and thankful that i wandered onto this song. The artistry is out of this world
Oh my god… this song is perfect.
Her songs are always so good
I’ve probably listened to this song at least 20 times today. It’s mesmerizing. The small sounds, the power behind the voice, the instruments in the background… ethereal and haunting and full of energy.
Gave me serious 19th century Ballerina vibes. So spectacular. Currently listening to this on repeat while I paint!
My heart goes out to all the women out there.
Oh please. The world is yours if you want it to be. Especially now. Go make it over in your image if you so choose.
@@rankrightseo ? I am killing it in life? I am so confused?
"Our skin is clay and painted blue" gets me. Clay to be crafted into whatever they want. Painted blue with bruising from that process.
"Our head can detatch" following it is just chilling. The constant reminder of the threat of violence and death.
"Art does not interpret itself" suggesting the case that men define women. Women can not decide for themselves what they are or what they mean..
This song hits haaaard
this deserves praise, lyricism at its finest
Genuinely amazed by the creativity, the way the sonics echo the message
The musical composition of these songs amazes me, stuns me, moves me. The poetry of the lyrics already makes my soul squirm and swim and cry. Unhinges my knees. But to use a classical background to make songs like this… I’m bewildered someone could be such a great poet and composer, that the lyrics and music feel like they birthed themselves from your soul as one.
I saw the short and this song has been stuck in my head for days. It's brilliant. I don't know how to describe what Sofia does with sound, but I love it.
I can't wait to read all the interpretations of this. This is the definition of art.
this feels like an abstract painting
I love how brave she is. There are not a lot of Artists that have the courage to challenge topics the way she does 💜🧸
Ren just mentioned her and how awesome she was. As always, Ren found another genious artist! ❤
just a question, who is Ren?
@1_melanie_fan he's a rapper/musician/artist/poet/singer
Best rabbit hole in have found so far. He has lyme disease and has many health problems but uses his platform to be a voice for the voiceles to all those
Who have been living with chronic pain
This deserves to be seen and heard by the world.
Thank you for this art. Even though this isn't directed at me as a man I have a had experiences that coincide with being seen as and used like an object by both genders. This one hits me in the heart.
I got chills throughout this whole song, this is such a masterpiece
So many distinct sounds. And wow...the sound differentiation.
I literally love you, Sophia iseIla saw you on the trilogy tour and after that I’ve been in love with your music
Woah so glad I came to listen to the full version
So good! Tells a story that's gone on for thousands of years in the way it should be told!!
This is so real. As somebody that has been treated inappropriately, been touched threatened and told i was rape bait atleast once by every guy in my life i identify with this song. I dont care if its not all men because everyone can take advantage depending on the situation.
This song is truly goosebumps material. Truly ethereal.
Literally got goosebumps all over my body while listening this!!!! ❤
Everything about the song is incredible. This is a unique song to experience and provokes so many thoughts and feelings, more so than a lot of music out there.
SIMPLY TRANSCENDENTAL. INCREDIBLE WONDERFUL
I will never get over this song
this is so symbolic. genuinely amazing how well you captured it all with only a few minutes.
Wish I could hit the like button more than once for this, there really isn't enough time to explain all the things I find so compelling and perfect about this
Are men not allowed to like this? This is incredible. Such a sad song though. Raw, with so much power!
Of course, everyone is allowed to like this and most art
I've been searching for some new music and I was just captivated by this song... It's insanely good!
It's so raw and haunting, I FELT painful as if I've gone through anything like what you're singing about...
Wow... Thank you so much for this art!
This is the first song I heard from her on shorts and I love it so much
I'm in love with this creation of yours, it's so touching, and I honestly don't know what to say to express how this makes me feel; thank you.
🐇🐇🐇 this is amazing!!! sent chills down my spine, just wow
your art is so beautiful, please don't ever stop creating
This is my favorite at the moment!
Never see music that actually talk about this, seriously
This song is absolutely amazing. The way it portrays sexual assault/rape into a song is a masterpiece. You rarely hear things like this and I personally love the piano and the chord progressions. The gasping and breath sounds add so much more emotion to it and desperation!!!
The wife whore mistresses maid mother interpreted as “MADE” instead really showcases how for women to be seen as not great mothers because of their environment or to act like they have it all together and not make mistakes on their child without being a parent at ALL.
(to add: Where the part where she says “fuck”
It’s almost as if either the pain is so severe you can barely pay attention to it and just becomes second thought.
I dedicate this to mom 💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛
and as for me I just love the elements of this song and the vocals and chord progressions and dynamics of the piano!!!! And the ORCHESTRAAAAAA
Its so raw and the lyrics. Wow.......
My god....I'm a 40 year old dude....why do I love this so much?
Because it is beautiful art, about a sad truth that need to be talked about?
I'm also a dude, ten years older than you, and I'm mesmerized by it. Found here work yesterday and everything I listened to by her since has been wonderfully creative, beautiful and thoughtful.
im so obsessed with this song what in the what i cant stop thinking about it 😭
